HADIT’S MORAL FOUNDATIONS AS PROPERTY RIGHTS
    (repost from 2014)

[O]f Haidt’s evolutionary origins of moral intuitions, three can be expressed as individual property rights:

    1. Care/harm for others, protecting them from harm. (The asset of life and body.)
    2. Proportionality/cheating, Justice, treating others in proportion to their actions. (The asset of goods.)
    3. Liberty/Oppression, characterizes judgments in terms of whether subjects are tyrannized. (The asset of time, opportunity.)

And three others can be expressed as community property rights covering social capital. Which obviously enough, have been, and continue to be, mirrored in corporate shareholder agreements.

    4. In-Group Loyalty/In-Group Betrayal to/of your group, family, nation, polity.
    5. Respect/Authority/Subversion for tradition and legitimate authority.
    6. Purity/Sanctity/Degradation/Disgust, avoiding disgusting things, foods, actions.

It should be noted that the male reproductive strategy among chimpanzees as well as humans evolved to kill off males in opposing groups and collect females. And that females evolved to place greater emphasis on children and females than the (fungible) tribe.

As such the distribution of moral intuitions varies in intensity between the feminine (1-3) and the masculine (4-6). This difference in moral intuitions roughly reflects the voting pattern we have seen since the enfranchisement of women into the electorate: an increase in the use of political violence to produce an increase in the female reproductive strategy (individual dysgenic reproduction) and a decrease in the male reproductive strategy (tribal eugenic reproduction).

When I first read a paper by Jonathan Haidt, years ago now, I immediately understood the implication.  Just as the ten commandments are reducible to “There is but one law: property, and thou shalt not steal”, all our moral rules can be reduced to one: “thou shalt not steal directly or indirectly, by action or inaction.”  These rules are genetic in origin.  They are necessary and immutable.

    PRESENT CONFLICTS
A superior population from a superior civilization, when forced into competition, will often conquer and displace an inferior population from an inferior civilization – and it is unclear that this isn’t the optimum for civilization, man, and nature. The question remains – why are a population and civilization inferior? We know the answer.

In the present conflict, a superior population from a superior civilization is colonizing a territory previously occupied by an inferior population from an inferior civilization.

This is the pattern that has been constant in the middle east for six thousand years. The question is why so many inferior populations from inferior civilizations persist as inferior populations in inferior civilizations over so long a period?

The next question is why an inferior population from an inferior civilization resists adapting out of its inferiority of population and civilization? We know the answer.

Why is it that inferior populations from inferior civilizations require the rituralization of an obvious falsehood that they are superior – when on one hand they cannot form a stable state and on the other they cannot form a stable anything.

Why is it that Islam, Russia, and China – all failed civilizations cannot adapt to modernity? In islam it is the people. In Russia and China it is the government, and less so the people.

Modernity does not require permissive western decadence. This decadence is just the effect of women in the voting pool. Modernity does require truth before face, the natural law, rule of law by the natural law, and court system that is relatively free of corruption, and a population capable of trusting one another.

The middle east is a face betfore truth low trust civilization. The courts can fix this over time.

The crusades were successful, and we had ample military economic and technological advantage sufficient to end the expansion, reverse it, and restore the eastern empire.

We had ample opportunity at the end of ww1 to do a better job of organizing the regions in to ethnostates with rule of law and education in literacy.

The question of why Europeans did not reverse Islamic expansion during the Crusades, and why they allowed the Byzantine Empire to fall to the Ottomans, is a complex one that involves a multitude of factors. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

    The Crusades
Lack of Unity: The Crusaders were not a monolithic group but a collection of different European states with varying interests and objectives. This lack of unity often led to infighting and weakened their overall effectiveness.

Logistical Challenges: The distance between Europe and the Holy Land presented significant logistical challenges, including the need to maintain long supply lines and navigate unfamiliar terrain.

Local Resistance: Muslim states in the region were often more unified and better prepared to resist Crusader invasions, particularly under strong leaders like Saladin.

Limited Goals: The primary aim of the Crusades was not to reverse Islamic expansion but to secure Christian access to holy sites in Jerusalem. Once this was achieved, at least temporarily, the impetus for further action was reduced.

Economic Factors: The Crusades were expensive, and the economic toll could be burdensome for European states, limiting their ability to sustain long-term military campaigns.

    Fall of Byzantium
Internal Decay: By the time of its fall, the Byzantine Empire had been weakened by internal strife, economic decline, and military defeats.

Western Indifference: Despite calls for aid, Western European powers were often indifferent to the plight of the Byzantines, partly due to religious schisms and also because they were preoccupied with their own concerns.

Rise of the Ottomans: The Ottoman Turks were a formidable military power with effective leadership, making them a challenging opponent for the Byzantines and any potential European allies.

Failed Crusades: Attempts were made to halt Ottoman expansion, such as the Crusade of Varna in 1444, but these were largely unsuccessful and further weakened the resolve of European powers to intervene.

Geopolitical Calculations: Some European states, like Venice, had complex relationships with the Ottomans that included both conflict and trade. The economic benefits of maintaining these relationships sometimes outweighed the ideological desire to defend Christendom.

Under feudalism (distributed rule), the aristocracy (military), needed to maintain landholdings(production) in the family by giving it to the eldest (Primogeniture) instead of distributing it to all the males. This caused much of the aristocracy that had no other options to take positions in the churches which were all paid for by these aristocratic femilies. This meant that the aristocdracy owned both the manor and the church, and they divided responsibility giving church management of the peasants in matters of behaviora and morals, and the manor in matters of property, and the shire courts, city courts, and parliament for escalating resolution of disputes. The aristocratic families would then accumulate land in the local church to provide income for these sons. The church landsd were not taxed. Over time the church held half of all land in Europe.

    ECON OF AI PRODUCTOIN
You might think the AI wars are absurd now, but Amazon is releasing compute-time to anyone willing to pay. This means people like me (us) and thousands of others, will build custom AI’s for different purposes. And as we’ve seen over the past few months, these AI’s are better at training a new generation of AI’s than are people. So AI’s will get dramatically better with lower cost compute.

Why? Will this happen? Because, as we said in the 80s, the tech isn’t the problem, it’s the hardware. A decent engineer can learn the software model for LLMs in about two weeks.

The only ‘moat’ that the big companies have, is the cost of the hardware from Nvidia in particular. And Tesla is building it’s own. And more will come on line over time. So the shortage of and cost of compute will continue to decrease until it’s the power consumption of the training algorithms that’s the cost barrier. (And it’s not cheap).

Then when neuromorphic chips are available they’ll destroy both the energy cost and the competitors producing the current technology. Because, as Turing stated, many tiny simple processors with light or hardware connections, operating at low power, will defeat any set of cores in existing processors without effort.

THE FEMALE CLIQUE AND MANIPULATION OF EXECUTIVES.
Ancient history now, well over a decade ago, but as a CEO it was very interesting to watch a cult of women in the organization turn hostile to me because my wife (who also worked in the biz) and I were getting divorced.
Also, when the board forced a change from one ‘next in line’ (who was deserving) to another (who wasn’t deserving) how the women circled around the one deserving – not because he was deserving but because he was easily swayed by those women.
I don’t really know how many companies I have, or my companies have, consulted for. But it’s extremely common for a CEO to be insulated by a group of influential women who manipulate him in one way or another to the detriment of the business.
I’ve come to understand what makes men vulnerable to this but, I don’t like the answer, nor do I like the cure. Because it’s the sociopaths that are invulnerable and the kind men who are vulnerable.
And my work has made me increasingly saddened by what I’ve discovered.
It’s quite amazing humans accomplish anything at all in large numbers. But it’s even more amazing that we survive introgression of women into any such organization. 🙁

    It’s meaningless.
    All life must acquire.
Life can acquire without movement, or with movement.
Movement increases probability though at the cost of movement.
Memory allows for prediction, though at the cost of memory and movement.
Involuntary cooperation allows for multipliers not possible by individual organisms at the cost of selecting predictions for the outcome of cooperation.
Voluntary cooperation allows for multiples not possible by individual organisms and involuntary organisms, but allows for the costs of defection, cheating, harming.
The division of temporal labor between the sexes: female short term hyperconsumption and risk evasion causing evasion of responsibility for commons, vs male long term hyper capitalization at the cost of risk mitigation, causing status by competition for responsibility for commons.
The amount of memory (neural volume) increases the number of parallel predictions (the field of predictions) an individual human can choose from, over longer periods of time, over greater populations, and over greater complexity.
The variation in neural volume, neural fitness (adaptation in time) determines the division of labor between individuals in addition to the division of labor between sexes creating the division of labor between classes.
The variation in systemic knowledge, general knowledge and experience, and specific skills further determines the division of labor between individuals, classes, and sexes.
The organization of metaphysical presumptions, group strategy, sex strategy, class strategy, individual strategy combines with the organization of individuals into families, clans, tribes, nations, civilizations, and races.
The organization of knowledge production, invention, prediction, production distribution, trade and consumption by the markets for association, cooperation, reproduction, production, commons, polities, institutions and war, organizes people with and a cross clans tribes and sometimes nations.
This organization is habituated by metaphysical presumptions, group strategy, mythology, institutions, traditions, norms, habits, and fashions- and humans are highly resistant to modification of the accumulation of above networks of understanding and relationships – in no small part because only about ten percent of humans do and can think – the rest merely react and then way-find a justification to their reaction given the above stack of indoctrination, habits, knowledge and incentives.

    THEREFORE
    Acquisition is meaningful
    Cooperation is meaningful
    Reciprocity of cooperation is meaningful.
Division of labor by many dimensions is meaningful
Cooperation in overlapping networks at increasing scales is meaningful.
Because we are all more affected by the behavior of those we share a polity with than we are our own words and deeds (actions).
As such it is the production of commons that is more meaningful than the production of individuals.
As such the purpose of law is to prohibit interference in the potential of cooperation in divisions of labor at increasing scales.
And the purpose of policy is the production of commons that remove frictions to cooperation, including the reduction of free riding, irreciprocity, privatization of commons, socialization of losses, rent seeking, corruption, lawfare, and authoritarianism – granting priority to the capital produced by the inter generational family before that of the individual, who, until producing offspring is a dead weight on accumulated spectrum of physical, behavioral, and genetic capital.

Now if you’re competent to make a judgement sufficient to hold an opinion, just in that sequence what did mises get wrong before we even begin to attack his epistemology – which upon his later years, he quietly recognized was false.

NEW RELIGION: MAKE MYSTICISM GREAT AGAIN? (NOPE)
Zero chance. At present two things are required for faith in traditional religion: 1) family indoctrination 2) empathic personality (feminine). These are amplified by 3) Status Insecurity.

The correct incentive is the Anglicans (CofE), which is, that it’s for the purpose of raising moral and psychologically healthy children and adults can otherwise ‘go their own way’.

Meaning all that matters is that as children they were taught christian morality. If they grow up atheist, agnostic, traditionalist, or devoted, is immaterial to the church and its mission. They have produced the desired output: ethical and moral behavior.

The orthodox church (unlike catholic or protestant) is apolitical so it’s doing a better job at retaining focus on the family. There is a need for behavioral indoctrination into mindfulness by scientific means – ie: without nonsense. (japanese , korean, chinese social saturation method is also an alternative).

Stoicism is just lifetime cognitive behavioral therapy but it is not as socially reinforcing. Epicureans provided the social reinforcement and that’s why they evolved into monsasteries under the christian conquest.

Chrsitianity is a feminine religion. But we managed to germanize it enough when combined with the martial aristocracy. But it’s not survivable in its current form without another reformation.

Same for Islam. Though islam is a low-IQ religion and it may persist in that frame. But devout christianity is far better for africa than islam and that’s obvious.

    The Problem of Raising Girls
Spent the past couple of hours in a meeting with a friend and female thought leader, where she tried successfully to draw my attention to the incentives and behavior of girls and young women.
And it was pretty depressing. I mean, depressing enough that both of us lost more than a little optimism for the future.
Now, it’s one thing to say ‘here are the institutions, laws, policies, and incentives, we need. And it’s quite another to say ‘how to you modify the behavior of girls so that they practice civic duty rather than engage in infinite personaly hyperconsumption?’
I mean, we are very poorly organized for dating, marriage, having replacement level reproduction, and doing so at a young enough age that it produces health children from healthy eggs and sperm, and makes possible all the economy and intergenereational redistibution we have today.
