    Morality = Reciprocity

    Reciprocity = limiting our display word and deed to productive, fully informed, voluntary transfer of demonstrated interests, free of imposition of costs upon the demonstrated interests of others by externality to the action, and warrantied within the limits of the actors’ capacity for restitution, between those who demonstrate, promise, imply, or expect exchange of reciprocity.

    As far as I know, that is the logical, empirical, biologically necessary, genetically necessary and complete definition of morality, for conscious beings, and there are no cases under which the definition fails.

    Some people will try to conflate the moral and the good, where good consists of an additional investment in addition to not violating reciprocity – but this demands involuntary transfer from others, and violates reciprocity.

    Some people will try to demand involuntary exchange of a promise of reciprocity from those who do not offer it – but an enemy is nothing more than an enemy who will not engage in reciprocity.

    Some people will argue this is a binary condition rather than an agreement, under which we match their level of reciprocity and irreciprocity. But while we seek perfect reciprocity, we rarely obtain it. In international trade and in politics we all but never obtain reciprocity, instead we exchange selective reciprocities and irreciprocities within our tolerance for continued cooperation, boycott, or war.

    Some people will try to demand reciprocity in war between groups, between whom the exchange of reciprocity has been withdrawn, but this demand violates reciprocity.

    Humans demonstrate the minimum morality that they can get away with without provoking altruistic punishment from others.

    Humans possess extraordinary abilities of accounting for debts and credits with others, our relative status, status differences, and the tendency of people to engage in moral or immoral behavior.

    There are two debates in the Greater Heathen community over two different concepts.

    1. Odin is a deity who comes after and through the higher gods Orlog (natural law) and the Nine Wood Ogresses,

    2. Odin was a mortal man who through right good will and action became deified as a god (this concept comes to the tradition via Snori in his Prose Edda (Reinterpretation of the Poetic Eddas) and his Heimskringla.

    These works were his equivalent of a Doctoral Theses written as proof of his ability to interview and collect data as he was becoming a regional law man.

    In order to write on this topic he had to toss in his Christian influenced apologies, namely the old gods were just mortal men deified over time.

    The answer to 1. Is the concepts of gods vs giants. Gods have your people’s invested interest, while giants can be ambivalent, hostile or apathetic to your people.

    Other people’s gods are your people’s giants. Therefore Orlog, and The Nine would not be considered gods as they are indifferent to any people’s well being.

    Odin is therefore not a demi-god, but the primary god of his people. Not sure why Curt chose to list them this way. I’m sure he has his own reasons.

    (CD: I used demigod because that is the technical term for men who become gods, rather than gods whose origins are eternal. The old gods fit the pre-ie gods. thor fits the ie gods. Odin appears in the pantheon and ascends. So I’m of the opinion that odin existed. That does not mean I am right. It just means thats my current undestanding. Additioally, in my understanding of religion, that is the best kind of religion to have: man transcendent. )

    Not sure how you got there. I wouldn’t and didn’t say that There is nothing to outlaw. Conquest and colonization is just war, and we cannot outlaw war. Peace is just war by other means.

    instead what i say is that some civilizations are parasitic and destructive (islam, gypsies, jews). Some are slow conquerors (china’s gradual borg-like-assimmilation), some are consolidators (india). And some have not yet consolidated (africa).

    P-law is negativa: we need a reason NOT to conquer, colonize, or replace others who are irreciprocal. reciprocity is the only reason.
