Its 11:30 and i am already creating enough trouble that the waiter is bringing me coffee.

I am sure that the master of ceremonies did not notice my attempt to look up his tunic to see if he was a real scott or not. If so he gave no signal. Although the women laughed heartily.

There are no women here to flirt with that wont start a fight. I dont like to start fights ( unless i am sober. ) and the waitresses arent cute enough.

I feel verbally hog tied and socially oppressed, but i will soldier on, looking for opportunities to cause mayhem despite the middle class civility of the crowd.

Honor is at stake after all! .

( Nerds rule in an absurd world. We find joy in it. )

    !!! 🙂

IS IT DONE WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND IT OR EXECUTE IT?

    (self ridicule)

My long time business partner, Jim teased me for most of our twenty years together, that I separated problem solving from work. “You think something is easy once you understand how to solve it. But the work still has to be done.”

I would agree. Always. Because my job in our business relationships, across multiple companies, was to figure stuff out: solving the problem, solving it early, and organizing execution. After that it’s just making license plates. And that wasn’t my job. I don’t make license plates. I hire people to make license plates.

But he is right. work is still hard, and you still learn, and details affect the outcome.

    Writing is hard work.

This is one of those days where I would much rather be in Maine with my friend Skye Stewart talking philosophy, enjoying the cold with something warm to drink. 🙂

Love you man. Missing New England at Christmas.

VERY HARD TIME THE PAST FEW WEEKS

    (venting)

I had to miss our London conference, and it was possibly one of the most saddening times of my life. For about a week I couldn’t sleep. And at present I’m still in limbo waiting for the government to process forms. (argh)

Meanwhile, no income, no access to funds, and the level of person you deal with who has total control over your life, is one step above Guido the mobster. Most IRS people appear to be lower middle class and upper proletarian bill collectors, with the same ethical standard.

Its not even that I can’t or won’t pay any given fine. It’s that I can’t get access to money because they use bureaucracy as a weapon of punishment.

This is one of the problems with the ‘aristocracy of everybody’ nonsense of the enlightenment. The cops are from the upper proletariat, the government workers are from the middle and upper proletariat, and the management is from the lower middle class.

Government is, by and large, the refuge of the lower classes.

I am fairly sure that aristocracy is better than proletarian statism.

Some day’s you’re just twiddling with some little bit of text, trying to fit it into the broader puzzle of your argument, and something just dawns on you, and … boom.. you’re both elated, and you feel painfully stupid that you didn’t think of it before.

    It’s awesome. It’s just awesome.

It’s like finding a present in the mail. 🙂

    But crisis. maybe. solved.

Sleepy old man must go to bed.
