You would think it was ridiculous. Turns out it isn’t. It was just very, very, difficult.
Why?
Self Determination > Sovereignty > Demonstrated Interests > Reciprocity.
So irreciprocity (unethical, immoral, ‘evil’) is universal, even if the portfolio of norms varies by culture and context, therefore we do not solve for morality but for immorality. If it is not immoral (irreciprocal) then it is either amoral(irrelevant) or moral.
We can find no exception to this rule throughout all of history. We can find errors in norms and then reform them, but we find no cases where this rule does not hold up.
The reason is quite simple. It’s just physics.

NATIONALISM vs CIVIC NATIONALISM vs ETHNO-NATIONALISM
The terms “nationalism,” “civic nationalism,” and “ethno-nationalism” encompass different concepts related to how nations and national identity are constructed and perceived. Each of these forms of nationalism prioritizes… https://twitter.com/curtdoolittle/status/1773554779697934364

Nationalism refers to the relation to other states: external.
Civic Nationalism and Ethnonationalism refer to the addition of culture then ethnicity internally to nationalism.

NATIONALIST VS CIVIC NATIONALIST VS ETHNO-NATIONALIST
You’re conflating Nationalist, Civic Nationalist and Ethno-Nationalist – which is a common tendency.
Ergo the distinction between :
1. Nationalist: pursuit of national interests to the exclusion or detriment of the interests of other nations.
2. Civic Nationalist: culturally homogenous but ethnically not: anyone who shares the country’s values and adheres to its laws can be a full member of the nation, regardless of their ethnic, racial, or religious background.
3. Ethno-Nationalist: both culturally and ethnically homogenous: defines the nation in terms of ethnicity, asserting that a nation is defined by a shared heritage, which usually includes a common language, culture, and ancestry. Ethnonationalism seeks to promote the interests of a particular ethnic group and often aims for self-determination for that group, which can include autonomy or the creation of a nation-state for that ethnic group alone.
Cheers

Hard to know. Germans might tolerate it but eastern Europeans not. Especially because France and Russia share imperial ambitions and being caught between those two is no something they’ll tolerate.

If you can obtain a monopoly of violence over a territory by attracting enough people to it, and to your institutions and policies then you can have your own nation state. However, nation is a genetic (ethno-linguistic) term, and it appears to take quite a few people of shared genes, language, and culture to hold a territory.
The reality being that small nation states with high average IQ’s are the optimum social, economic, and political order. The challenge being, that they must form federations in order to resist conquest.

It turns out that we should be singing god save the king. Sorry but it just turns out.
The difference is the USA is not only a reluctant superpower, but a reluctant policeman, and a reluctant globalist – Americans are largely isolationist and always have been. It’s the postwar attempt to prevent another world war (ending the age of empires and birthing the age of nation states).
The french want to lead (aggress, dominate) the americans want to defend. There’s a very big difference.
That said I preferred living in Ukraine to the states. I hated living in Canada. I love the UK people but it’s government makes business impossible, and the folks are lazy as heck. I love germany but they have no sense of humor and I find it depressing. I’d live in moscow if it would go back to the openness of 2010. I’m trying to decide where to live in the states, but portland and seattle were the only cities not ruined by the Democratic (socalist) ‘slaughter of the cities’ but even those two places have been destroyed by the left ad immigration.
So there is nothing left except the South, NH or Maine.
