    THE IQ SCIENCE READING LIST
by Brian White, Scientist (via Quora)
(Tip: “libgen dot is” is your friend for science books)

    Probably the best starting point:
Haier, R. J. (2017). The Neuroscience of Intelligence, Cambridge University Press.

If you want something more basic:
Intelligence: All that matters, S.J. Ritchie, John Murray Learning, London (2015).

If you want easy reading, lots of information, and one of the best sources of how IQ impacts life outcomes:
Herrnstein, R. J., & Murray, C. (1994). The Bell Curve: Intelligence and Class Structure in American Life. New York: Free Press. Note: The only shortcoming of this book is its age. We have powerful new technologies that were developed later. Those confirm the contents of The Bell Curve, and show that the book understates many factors.

If you want to read the most cited text in all of intelligence research:
Jensen, A. R. (1998). The g factor: The science of mental ability. Westport, CT: Praeger. Note: This book is more advanced than those listed above and also was written before the development of such things as brain imaging technologies (they were just beginning); genome wide association studies; and polygenic scores.

If you want to understand how tests are designed and analyzed for bias, accuracy, etc. the best book remains valuable:
Jensen, A.R. (1980). Bias in mental testing. New York: Free Press. This book is technical, long, and detailed.

For a good understanding of chronometrics:
Arthur R. Jensen (2006), Clocking the Mind: Mental Chronometry and Individual Differences.

To learn how national IQs are computed and compared and for a massive amount of national level data:
Richard Lynn & David Becker (2019) The Intelligence of Nations; Ulster Institute for Social Research.

Worth reading to understand the big picture (at least from the British perspective) and to get a general overview of essential facts:
At Our Wits’ End: Why We’re Becoming Less Intelligent and What It Means for the Future, by E. A. Dutton & M. A. Woodley of Menie. Exeter, UK: Imprint Academic.

For an understanding of how mean IQ impacts breeding groups and nations:
The Global Bell Curve by Richard Lynn.

Many of these books are out of print, but can be found at used book dealers in mint condition (most folks can’t get past the first few pages). Some of the books can be found in PDF format on the internet.

    2) Doing the right thing isn’t an opinion, it’s science:
Reciprocal insurance of self determination by self determined means, by tests of sovereignty in demonstrated intersts, reciprocity in display word and deed, limiting us to cooperative markets for the private (the market) and common (legislature), and argument, the duel, and the court of the common concurrent natural law by these criteria for the resolution of our differences, thus producing the most cooperation at the largest scale, with the greatest rewards, at the greatest velocity, at the lowest risk, with the greatest certainty, at the lowest cost that is possible for mankind.

    3) Leftism is an attempt to violate responsibility for all of the above, by generating conflict that these set of criteria is oppression rather than the domestication of the human animal for it’s own good and the betterment of all in a pareto distribution of competency and a nash equilibrium of rewards.

This is why women fail in voting – they are disinclined to take responsibiilty when a vote is a proxy for the violence needed use the state for the suppression of irresponsibility and the maximization of individual responsiblity.

    James (all)
Conservatism is stated morally instead of scientifically and legally, while the marxist sequence is stated pseudoscientifically and with sophistry as a fraud. We can (I have) state conservatism as what it consists of doing not of what it claims to morally value: self determination and self determined means, sovereignty and reciprocity, duty before self and truth before face, judged by empirical evidence, in the commonality of dispute resolution by the common law, and concurrency in legislative contract. If you don’t know what commonality in law, and concurrency in voting (legislation) mean then you don’t grasp that they are empirical requirements for the prohibition of authority.

That’s the science. The summary of the first principles of civilizational differences. And it explains why conservatives are right and moral and why paternalism (adulting into responsibility) is necessary, and why maternalism (caring into infantilization) is a crime against humanity.

Liberals are the archetype of the sick mother who seeks validation by perpetually infantilizing her children so that she is constantly recieving approval and attention.

The most destructive force in civilization.

    IN REPLY TO:

    Unknown author

    @ThomasJMain;

    1) Western civilization’s disproportionate success in the bronze, iron, and steel ages, is due to the rate of discovery of the laws of the universe, including the formal(logical), physical, behavioral, and evolutionary, and our utilization of, adaptation to, and evolution in response to those discoveries. And we have nearly single handedly dragged mankind out of superstition, ignorance, hard labor, poverty, starvation, disease, suffering, child mortality, early death, the vicissitudes of a nature hostile to our existence, and which has nearly exterminated us with disturbing regularity.

    2) This rate of discovery, innovation, and adaptation is possible because of an accident of history, where our ancestors combined(Science, Techne) horse, cart, wheel, and bronze as steppe cattle raiders (Pirates, Vikings), and the entrepreneurial government between those raiders, as the only government possible between them: one that prohibited authority, preserving sovereignty, thus generating demand for contractualism, reciprocity, truth before face, duty before self, and excellence before adequacy, and directing dominance expression to the production of commons. (Self Determination, Sovereignty, Rule of Law, Legislature, Democracy, Meritocracy: Natural Aristocracy.) With a religion and cult universal heroism (Heroic, Militaristic, Hierarchical, Meritocratic, Technological, Expansionary, Sky Worshipping). This is the most rapidly evolutionary and adaptive social, political, economic order available to man. Today we call this “OODA” loop. In the past we called it Manuever. And infrequently, we call it ‘initiative’. And the cost of participation is “responsibility”.

    3) There are only three possible means of human influence: social(inclusion-exclusion) in norm and religion, economic(trade-boycott) in weights and measures in contract law, and physical(force-defense) regulation legislation and command via the government or state. These three institutions will develop in an order and priority. All civilizations are anchored by their first institution, which is permanent, followed by a second weaker institution, followed by a third weakest or failed institution. As such civilizations adapt given the rate of adaptabiility of their primary institutions: religion slowly if at all (MENA, India), the State(government) faster but calcifying (Sinic), and the law of contract or competitive cooperation via markets the fastest possible (Europe).

    4) But the physical, emotional, and psychological cost to the individual of these institutions, priority of these institutions, and rate of change permissible by these institutions varies by their adaptivity, and *individual responsibility*. With religion the lowest, the state next lowest, and the market the most burdensome. Why? Because the radius of religion is the self and family. The radius of responsibility under the state as dicated. The radius of responsibility under markets is ‘the maximum you are capable of’ because otherwise you are forcing costs upon others in the polity by the absence of your responsibility: equality of responsibility.

    5) The ‘liberal’ project in its prewar christian form was merely duty of care for the unfit, in exchange for training the unfit into greater moral fitness (religions). But the postwar ‘liberal left, socialist, equalitarian program’ ‘sells’ personal irresponsibility, dependence, and infantilization, and promises freedom from the logical(postmodern), physical scarcity(marxist), behavioral(neoMarxist, Feminist, Woke), and Evolutionary Laws(Darwinian explanation for all of existence) to authoritarians.

    6) Conservatives deny the equality of moral willingness, ability, and fitness for moral responsibility.

    7) We deny the utopian and accept the responsibility for the burden of the empirical.

    8) We accept the christian burden of providing care as a means of encouraging responsibility.

You avoid responsibility, and claim false competenc and virtue.

    Cheers
