    Time is a man-made unit of commensurability to measure change in the physical world. It is useful in coordination, measurement (with the goal of drawing patterns), etc. but it is no more “real” than a yardstick. A yardstick or other measure of the physical world is merely a reference point with which we can more precisely communicate information with one another, and is not in and of itself a facet of nature outside of man’s conception.

    TIME

    1 – The rate(velocity) of entropic change in the universe, at current density and rates of expansion, at our current velocity relative to others.

    2 – Human perception of the order of episodes (memories) of change in the universe.

    3 – A standard measurement of the rate entropic change in the universe at human scale.

    4 – We do not yet know if time has any meaning prior to the big bang, or when the universe has sufficiently cooled that expansion has ceased, or what occurs after expansion has ceased.

    CYCLICALITY

    Early man was unable to perceive changes other than cyclical, because he lacked methods of recording events such that he could perceive development (progress).

    I do my job. I do it with rigorous discipline and consistency. Even if I think I intuit the outcome, i ignore my intuition and continue my investigation through aggressive falsification. When the investigation is exhausted, and I can find nothing left to falsify I construct a solution out of what remains. Christianity must die, but jesus-ness is a good thing – as long as it is limited to *personal actions on those within the polity*.

    If you can find many other thinkers with this degree of commitment to falsification of everything they believe, I’d like to meet them. Because as far as I know, we happy few are painfully rare.

    Mental illness as far as I know, is measured:

    1 – The first by the harm to the individual or his peers (harm).

    2 – The second measure is whether cooperation is no longer possible because of an insufficiently shared reality. In which case we are stuck with the problem of decidability – which corresponds more closely to reality (cooperation).

    3 – The third measure is whether individuals suffer psychological pain because their theories and consequent actions produce results in reality that dissatisfy, frustrate, or agonize them.

    Beyond that we have merely ability, ignorance, error, bias, wishful thinking, and deceit.

    Whenever people claim some policy or value is good, ask them whether they mean a sales and revenue report, an income statement, or a balance sheet.

    Hmm…. In the end, after all is said and done we’re still losing capital due to depreciation and unproductivity.

    In other words, are they using full accounting (balance sheet), or are they *cherry-picking*?

    Because a conservative includes genetic, social, institutional, and normative capital in his calculations. A libertarian is selective about it. And a liberal treats it as someone else’s problem.

    Operationalism provides a *measurement* of ordinary language by fully expanding all sentences, reducing all sentences to a series operationally and therefore subjectively testable statements. Then using precise definitions of terms, stated in operational language, whose limits we have calculated by enumerating all related terms in a series. Science requires measurements as a means of falsifying against ignorance, error, bias, wishful thinking, suggestion, fictionalism, and deceit. Strictly constructed, algorithmic expression of arguments in operational grammar: “actor, incentive, action, noun, change in state, result and resulting externalities”, produces a value neutral, subjectively (humanly) testable, language of truthful speech for the production of law, contract, argument, criticism, and illustration independent of value judgement.

    So if the population of people above 130 remains constant. And the population of people below 105 increases, but we eliminate a large portion of people below 90 who were previously subject to deprivation, and the conversion from discreet rules to general scientific rules generates an equally distributed gain of one standard deviation, we would see the Flynn effect AND see the decline response time effect, but preserve the rates of innovation at the top. Also we can see similar population shifts are replacements rather than devolution. So yes, the data is OPERATIONAL explainable.

    That’s the explanation as I understand it.
