  • Q&A: Did You Ever Think That Lying Makes Life Beautiful?

—“Curt Doolittle , did you ever think about the fact that truth is boring and lying (telling stories) makes the life beautiful? You have to be talented in order to lie, not everybody can do it well… BuI bet that many people have not the time and patience to read your arguments…”—Grete Tartler Tabarasi

[I] think many things. Among them, that I agree that lying is a talent. I also agree that murder, violence, theft, fraud, fraud by omission, free riding, privatization of the commons conspiracy, conversion, invasion and conquest require great skill. And that theft by such methods is rewarding and enjoyable – and certainly preferable to engaging in production, holding to contract and promise, and speaking the truth and the whole truth. So some of us must do the yeoman’s labor of capturing, chaining, imprisoning and hanging those who murder, steal, lie, and cheat.

COMBINE SCIENCE, TRUTH, PHILOSOPHY, MORALITY, LAW, AND ECONOMICS – CLEANSE THE EART OF LIES AND THEFT, AND WE WILL BE IN PRACTICE GODS

Physical Science as practiced is merely incomplete. Science is a moral discipline laundering imagination from free association.

Physical Science advanced faster than Social Science because in Physical, truth is advantageous – and in Social lying often is.

    0) Seven Moral Warranties compete science, and unify truth, science, philosophy, morality, law, politics and economics.

    1) Identity (non-conflation)

    2) internal consistency (logical),

    3) external consistency (correspondence) ….

    4) Existential Possibility(Operationalism),

    5) Morality(voluntary transfers),

    6) Parsimony(limits),

    7) Full Accounting…

Without these seven warranties one cannot honestly promise that he adheres to his oath to forgo harm, theft and deceit.

So why should we permit to live among us those who will not take and keep this oath – as we have, for thousands of years?

If one cannot warranty the truthfulness of one’s speech, then why should such a person be permitted to speak?

The first question of ethics is why do we not kill others? Only because productivity is superior if we cooperate.

But Parasitism is Not Cooperation it is predation. Hence if we don’t benefit from cooperation it’s foolish to practice it.

And if we do not practice cooperation then the rational choice is ostracization, and if parasitic, then conquest.

So if man or woman will not take and adhere to the oath, and survive the test of adhering to it, we must shun or kill them.

This is truth said, truth reasoned, and truth acted. Leave no man alive who engages in theft or deception.

And when the world is clean, leaving only speakers of the truth, then we shall be gods in name, actions and genes.

I hate to resort to scifi references but scifi is the modern mythology of Liberty.

But in retrospect Clarke’s HAL becomes a threat when taught to lie.

This is the problem with the Talmud and its transformation into Christianity through the adoption of Mithraism.

It is, in an effort to produce separatism, a training manual for lying.

Christianity, in an effort to form a resistance to aristocracy, is a great lie. Because lying succeeds if enough people lie.

And enough people lie because it’s in their interest to lie.

  • A friend just turned me onto some work about the talmud as polylogical/polyethic

A friend just turned me onto some work about the talmud as polylogical/polyethical meaning keeping “Two Sets Of Books”.

I’ll try to read through it quickly. My concern is again not to criticize successful tactics, but to understand how to defeat this amazing technique that worked in both religious and pseudoscientific eras.

I have it down. But the more I understand, the better I will get at it.

We can demand due diligence of truthfulness by demand for warranty of due diligence:

    1) Identity

    2) Internal Consistency

    3) External Correspondence

    4) Existential Possibility

    5) Morality

    6) Full Accounting

    7) Parsimony

These seven tests (so far) make it extremely difficult to lie. Almost impossible.

FOLLOWUP TO: THE FAILED BOOK OF ATHENIAN TRUTH, THE SUCCESSFUL BOOK OF JERUSALEM’S LIES

—Dr. Dolittle, you’re an ignorant anti-semite!!—

Actually I’m not anti-anything, and I am probably the most knowledgeable person working today on the subject of Truth, and its consequences in Ethics, Morality, and Politics. Which I’m happy to demonstrate in any debate with anyone living at any time. And I probably know the very few people capable of debating me.

Either statements are true, statements are false or statements are undecidable. Either you can attack the arguments that I put forward or you cant. No name calling will alter the truth or falsity of the statements. All it demonstrates is that you’re either ignorant or dishonest.

The fact of the matter is that westerners discovered quite by accident, the technology of truth and it resulted in reason, science, medicine, technology and nearly all significant advancements made by mankind.

The fact of the matter is that for some reason, probably necessity, the hebrews created very useful means of deception of simple people who wished for the world to be other than it is. Their first great lie was scriptural monotheism. Their second great lies were pseudoscience.

The New England neo-puritans (my people, my ancestors, since my ancestors were norman and then puritans in the plymouth and new haven colonies,) evolved into the anti-slavery movement as a way of preparing the way for women’s suffrage. This is all well documented history. Sorry. The combination of the radical changes of the industrial revolution, the anglo, french, german, and jewish enlightenment failures, and the failure of western governments to successfully adapt rule of law and political processes that provide a means of constructing commons, could not adapt.

While a good number of our greatest minds understood that a problem was in progress they failed at solving it. Poincaré, Russell, Mises, Hayek, Popper, Bridgman, Brouwer, all failed to solve the problem of the social sciences. And because they failed, the 20th century will be remembered both as a rapid economic expansion, and (as Hayek warned it would be) a century of mysticism. Or, given their lack of understanding of the reason for the success of the discipline of science, ‘the century of pseudoscience.’.

These are just facts. Deal with reality. We don’t need more lies. We’ve destroyed western civilization with those lies.

  • WE HAVE EACH OTHER, CHURCHES, HISTORY, AND THE BEAUTY OF NATURE. WHY DO WE NEED

WE HAVE EACH OTHER, CHURCHES, HISTORY, AND THE BEAUTY OF NATURE. WHY DO WE NEED LIES?

Getting people together to listen to parables of history, feast, and sing is content-independent. It doesn’t matter WHAT people talk about. What matters are the existence of ‘safe’ civic rituals of ANY kind.

There is almost nothing of value in Christian history that is not in pagan history other than the extension of kinship love to non-kin in order to bridge family and tribal bonds. This improves economic rates of production and trust everywhere it has gone. Unfortunately we gave up worship of existential nature somewhat in order to worship a non-existent babylonian terrorist. Although in much of pagan Europe nature worship continued as the folk religion (just as they still exist in our fairy tales) even if the political religion was christianity, and the aristocratic ‘religion’ was the rough and unforgiving empiricism of warfare.

Furthermore, just as Chivalry gave dominant males access to status signals and self worth by acts of service, the priesthood and charity gave men and women access to status signals and self worth by acts of service.

The church took responsibility for insurance, education and family law. The state took responsibility for the construction of order (property), dispute resolution, economic production, and defense.

This division of labor maintained a balance between the clergy, the nobility, the burghers, the knights, and the free farmers, and the peasantry (illiterate working class so lazy and unproductive we cannot imagine it without watching men on third world street corners.

But none of this puts any value in the christian dogma. If anything the time of The First Great Lie has passed, and we are just now ending The Second Great Lie. Undoubtably there will be yet a third, but we will do what we can to prevent such a thing for as long as possible.

So to say we need ‘church’ with the central themes of virtue, family, love, charity, industry, and to remember our heroes and saints is to say the obvious. It would almost certainly be better to regularly remind people of the sacredness of nature, so that they would care for our commons.

But there is no meaningful reason why we must embrace mysticism in the ancient tradition, or pseudorationalism, or pseudoscience, in the current tradition (Cult of TED for example).

Nor do I understand, nor can anyone likely justify, the use of outright lying in city square, church pulpit, academic lectern, political podium, news desk, digital internet, radio microphone, motion video, or dramatic play. Why should archaic lies be distributed, and why should modern lies pseudorationalism and pseudoscience be distributed? There isn’t a reason other than we had no prior means of determining whether a due diligence of truthfulness had been performed.

We need a civic religion. We have one. It’s our history. And it’s a history that is very hard argue against. We likely need spiritualism to feel humility. We have one. It’s nature, our planet, the universe.

We have each other, we have our history and we have nature. They’re all truths.

    Why do we need lies?

Cant you imagine a world without lies?
