TOLERANCE – (via negativa) the capacity to endure continued subjection to something (my adds: externalizes costs, ignores limits, passive state, imposed externally, waives agency)
FORBEARANCE – (via-positiva) patient self-control; restraint; the action of refraining from exercising a legal right, a response or enforcing the payment of a debt/cost. (my adds: carries costs, imposes limits, active state, self imposed, applies agency)
Above –
“tolerance of the current condition” is a great example of the ambiguity tolerance allows. Who is responsible for the current condition? Who imposed a cost and who is carrying that cost?
Alternative –
“In absolutes you are governed by men who fight and their forbearance of your shortcomings.”
Explicit in who is costing and who is covering costs.
The alternative also reminds the men who fight of their responsibility for what is and to reiterate their responsibility in asserting limits upon that forbearance.

Don’t have one. Market for prosecution of privatization of the commons or socialization of losses under the law solves the problem. Today we are disintermediated by the state in ‘standing’ before the court, in matters of the commons.

can’t be done. that’s the problem. commons are necessary. not only for defense but to retain population and trade in competition with polities that invest in commons. Can’t be done. That’s why it hasn’t been.

This is false Nathan. GOvernments exist to prevent the imposition of alternative governments even LESS desirable to the people. States exist to produce commons, and the commons required is defense. Bad governance exists because CITIZENS tolerate it. Govts are a necessary defense.

OWN IT. OWN YOURSELF. OWN THE COMMONS. OWN IT.
—“I realized [extreme ownership] was the correct path after listening to John Marks vids back in December. Pop culture has sunk to a state of grand victimhood. Everybody is trying to out-victim everyone else. I’m a victim I’m a victim.
No one is taking responsibility for anything. John Mark made me realize this and I have completely changed myself (I am trying anyway LOL).”— Matt Fahnestock

OWN IT – YOURSELF, YOURS, AND ALL COMMONS
—“In short – take responsibility for everything, absolutely everything – and good things will happen. Don’t shift blame, don’t talk about how it is the situation’s fault. It is all on you – but in a positive way. This is not to mean that everything that goes wrong is because of you – it means that putting everything on your own shoulders makes good things happen all around. Even when things go badly, take the responsibility – and it makes it easier to deal with.”—-
