    1) If you can’t write the dialog you haven’t observed the category of people your character is a proxy for in similar circumstances. Go study people instead of reading books about it. Do your research.

    2) If you can’t write the scene, you can’t role play your characters init, because you haven’t studied people like your characters. Most of the time your characters are talking (crap) is because you’re actually writing to yourself to convince yourself, because your scenes and your characters aren’t acting rationally in context, in furtherance of the plot, because you can’t empathize with them. (Most people write lower middle class characters in middle class conditions, with upper middle class resources, because that’s all the people they know, the contexts they find attractive, and the wealth making the condition possible. The classes think, speak, act very differently.) Do your research.

    3) Dramatic tension is only possible for people who share concerns that would provide them with tension. What constitutes tension for gender, class and age varies. Status and self image is important at the bottom, wealth as you rise, but insults mean nothing, and power at the top because money is plentiful – but power is given to leaders they don’t ‘have’ it. It’s all loyalty alliances and opportunity with similar people who merely ‘shop’ for opportunities. Do your research.

    4) Leave open mystery, have the characters react, rather than explain, and use mystery (the unknown, uncertainty)….

    Do your research. If you did your research the story will come out of you. If you think you have ‘talent’ then you have failed before you put prose to print.

    I would happily debate Andrew because I am not aware of anyone else living who understands issues of modernity as well as I do. Because some of his desire can be produced by moral rather than immoral means. But really, he’s not very smart he just says ‘free stuff!’ for attention.

    Man can sense by nerves, disambiguate, categorize, perceive categories, and associate them, reinforce them by rehearsal, and recall them, hold one or combination or a prediction from a combination in his attention, recursively modify it, and in that order, because of his neurological ability to identify constant ad inconstant relations between stimuli over time. That’s all neurons do: on off, faster, slower.

    1. Man can discover and identify (categorize) and name (give name to) sets of constant relations (an identity, referent,).

    2. Man can invent patterns of testing constant-inconstant relations(relations)

    3. Man can name those patterns of constant-inconstant relations (general rules)

    4. Man is capable of language using ‘continuous recursive disambiguation over time.

    5. Man can invent a grammar (rules of continuous recursive disambiguation) for any paradigm of constant relations (dimensions) he chooses. For example, counting, accounting, linear geometry, curvalinear geometry, multi-dimensional geometry. Or testimony, narrative, story, fiction, fictionalism, lie. Or physics, chemistry, biochemistry. one of the grammars he developed we call logic: the tests of constant relations in state between statements.

    6. Man can use a grammar of any one of the logics, the most simple being first order logics, to describe the constant relations or failure of constant relations between any two or more references that he is capable of imagining, or which, by some instrumentation we can reduce to perceivable differences.

    The brain is a very simple thing it turns out. It does only one thing really. focus attention on successful prediction of from patterns of stimulation.

    I do not know what you believe. I cannot know. I can only determine judge you by your actions. If you testify to an un-testifiable belief, then you can only lie. If you lie then you have a reason to lie. I can only seek to discover the reason you lie. I cannot distinguish a profession of belief in an un-testifiable lie, from any other lie.

    Belief is irrelevant. Either you imitate thew works of jesus or you are just another liar, fraud, and thief.

    Keep a diary of the actions you make in the service of others for no other reason than the love of others, and the cost to you for having done so.

    If it is not an action, is not in the services of others, is not in the service of other by your personal service to them, then you are a liar and a liar, fraud, and thief, and your claims of Christianity are no different from wearing the uniform of those who did service, when you have not done so, a pretending to equal their honor.

    No. You are just a free-rider. A parasite on other’s labors. A free rider on those few christians who exist, just as a free rider on those few warriors that exist.

    A christian ACTS. Profession of belief, and belief are irrelevant.
