That is a possibility. It does not, however, impugn my arguments whatsoever. Truth is what it is no matter who speaks it, and no matter whether its speaker is sound or mad.

Well, if Krugman says China’s about to crash, I’m gonna say that it’s his (albeit limited) area of expertise, and he’s probably right. And that, as I suggested, the next ‘great upheaval’ will occur in the 2020-2025 range.

(I thought they couldn’t make it past 2010.)

They’re preparing for their civil war, just as we are preparing for ours. And we can only hope that they happen at the same time, so that both are occupied internally by the end of the capitalist universalist era, and the return to nationalism and kinship.

    HEIRARCHY OF MYTHOLOGICAL INFANTILISMS

—“Serious post time: who is worse, adult Harry Potter fans, or adult Doctor Who fans?”—-

Harry potter is an adolescent chick cross dressing as a boy reveling in the luxury of attention that all chicks want, but almost never get, while pretending that she doesn’t want it.

Doctor Who is a traumatized beta cuck that’s seeking salvation by reaching for every life raft of every kind that he can find.

Manga (Japanese animation) is probably the worst of them.

    Superheroes less so.

    The ancient myths less so.

The great adventure novels less so.

The lives of the great men less so.

I’d have to say that while I love the series, HP is far worse, but that if you cannot incrementally graduate from each then you are simply infantilized by the mythos that you intuitionistically appeal to. So I would focus on explaining to children that damsels in distress get killed – they aren’t saved by friends, relatives, teachers, and magic.

A real harry potter would be dead in the first book.

    HIERARCHY:

    – Infant Stories.

    – Children’s Stories

    – Manga (asiatic myths are infantile)

    – Harry potter / Dr Who (late childhood)

    – Fantasy (moral responsibility)

    – European Mythology (resistance to the lies of the east)

    – Science Fiction (restated mythology)

    – The great adventure novels

    – The lives of the greats

    – The story of history

The brain is actually a pretty simple machine when it comes to aberrant sets of behaviors. Most of the time (in my opinion) male in utero development has been incomplete or overstimulated in one way or another, and we are consequently trapped – looking for intense stimuli in order to compensate for an inability to synthesize stimuli.

The most sensitive part of our system seems to be the hypothalamus, and in my opinion, the responses to what is called ‘social defeat’ seem to be extremely sensitive and hyper-reactive. And so we see social anxiety as one of the queues to insufficient hypothalamic activity on the one hand, or as is common in autistics ‘intense world’ experiences, wherein the activity is simply too ‘intense’ and giving us false positives. (This is how I tend to explain the autistic spectrum reactions to people.)

So again, it is easy to miscategorize general, insufficient, hypothalamic neurogenesis during development, as social anxiety disorder. When instead, by treatment of social anxiety disorder we provide sufficient connectivity and neurogenisis to the region that the suite of related symptoms – at least with years of training – can be compensated for.

JOSLIN AND DOOLITTLE ON THE FUTURE OF RELIGION

Curt: I think that the notion of religion in the archaic sense, is probably done forever except for the ‘stupid people’. And just as the current state religion is democratic pseudoscientific, secular, humanism, any replacement religion will require a narrative and inspirational (transcendent or accommodating) that is even more modern. So my argument would be more to focus on festivals and certification rituals, and education, and simply revert to our traditional myths as the basis for our narratives.

Bill Joslin: I see. Through social rituals and narratives mythos is restored without the need for it to be a conceptual frame for reality. We profit from social function but isolate away the potential for deception-fraud… loose coupling (programming reference) of logos and mythos. That is brilliant.

    Curt: Bingo.

—“Yes, men are indoctrinated to negotiate first, rather than to take by force first, and negotiate, or compensate last. Many, maybe most men, have this problem. But once you set down the framework, give them the “It’s not your fault” reframing, and give them some contract examples and case studies — without fail they say, “fuck I knew that!” or “fuck I used to do that!” or “fuck, I used to be like that!” And they revert quickly, usually with massive success.”— James Santagata
