SENTIENCE, AWARENESS, CONSCIOUSNESS, AGENCY, AND INTELLIGENCE : THE EVOLUTION OF MEMORY

SENTIENCE: Sense and Perceive changes in state, absent prediction and choice. Neurology not ‘memory’.

AWARENESS: Awareness of changes in bodily and environmental state because of the availability of short term memory, limited long term, little if any forecasting. Short term memory.

CONSCIOUSNESS SPECTRUM: Modeling Space, Time, and Others, including the modeling of space, time by others because of extensive Long term memory. Some degree of forecasting but limited recursive permutation (thinking).

AGENCY: Given that predictions (models) and the actions to bring them about are computed by our brains simultaneously, the ability to suppress, recursively iterate upon, and choose between, then act upon or choose not to act upon those impulses. Multiple competing forecasts, with control over selection of subject(choice of forecast) of recursion.

    INTELLIGENCE

BIOLOGICAL Intelligence or “g” consists in consuming lower biological resources to obtain more relevant predictions with limited error, in shorter time. It’s a measure of ‘cable friction’ (really) – meaning lower is better. (neuronal resistance is calculated using the same formula as undersea cables.)

DEMONSTRATED Intelligence requires (a) ‘g’, (b) short term memory (working memory), (c) general knowledge, (d) concordance of wants with reality (not wanting or believing impossible or stupid things), (e) trait conscientiousness (sticking to it).

The consciousness spectrum is a function of memory – and especially memory as a ratio of body size – and all consciousness evolves from the same function: body modeling in space determined by available movement.

The sequence of states above are all names of marginal differences in state in the spectrum of cognition and as such represent a continuity of increasing recursive iterations of neuronal organization and not discreet functions.

In any self organizing, self reinforcing, neuronal system (network), each iteration (layer of abstraction) increases the prediction in time, space, and distance from perception to calculation. And tools of computation (language-communication, accumulated experience(knowledge), theory, writing, formulae, numbers, logic) allow us to use internal and external tools for increasing prediction of the time, space, object, population, with our given abilities – which across human classes, range dramatically.

—“What is meant, or what do you mean when you say ‘The end of history’?”—Nicholas Arthur Catton

    The End of History:

    SPECIFIC

The end of history is a political and philosophical concept put forth by Francis Fukuyama that proposes that a particular political, economic, or social system may develop that would constitute the end-point of humanity’s sociocultural evolution and the final form of human government (and that social democracy was that order).

    GENERAL

That any given scientific question can be as complete as is chemistry (where chemistry is the most complete of the sciences).

    RELATING TO P

My suspicion is that people will improve on P for a century at which point it will approach chemistry in completeness.Updated Jan 26, 2020, 8:53 AM

Town: an urban area that has a name, defined boundaries, and local government, and that is generally larger than a village and smaller than a city, with an economy primarily of agricultural, crafts, or light industry.

City: A large human settlement in a permanent and densely settled place with administratively defined boundaries whose members work primarily on non-agricultural tasks, and possessing a financial center for the organization of capital.

Quarter: a part of a town or city having a specific character or use.

*Ghetto(Aliens): a part of a city in which members of a minority group live, typically as a result of social, legal, or economic pressure.

*Enclave(Aliens): a portion of territory within or surrounded by a larger territory whose inhabitants are culturally or ethnically distinct.

*Colony(Alien): (a) a group of people of one nationality or ethnic group living in a foreign city or country. (b a country or area under the full or partial political control of another country, typically a distant one, and occupied by settlers from that country.)

Estate (Proto Plantation): an extensive area of land in the country, usually with a large house, owned by one person, family, or organization.

*Plantation (Proto Fief): a usually large farm or estate, especially in a tropical or semitropical country, on which cash crops, including cotton, tobacco, coffee, sugar cane, is cultivated, usually by resident laborers.

Manor: (especially in England and Wales) a unit of land, originally a feudal lordship, consisting of a lord’s demesne and lands rented to tenants. (Today: a large country house with lands; the principal house of a landed estate.)

Fief(proto-state): an estate of land, especially one held on condition of feudal service.

Demesne (land): land attached to a manor and retained for the owner’s own use.

Protectorate (military): a state that is controlled and protected by another.

State(politics): a territory with an organized political community under one government.

Country (territory): A state, with a government, occupying a particular territory.

Nation(Ethnicity): a large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular country or territory.

Nation-State(Ethnicity): a sovereign state whose citizens or subjects are relatively homogeneous in factors such as language or common descent.

Federation(politics): a group of states with a central government but independence in internal affairs.

Confederation: a more or less permanent union of countries with some or most political power vested in a central authority.

League: a collection of people, countries, or groups that combine for a particular purpose, typically mutual protection or cooperation.

MATH IS JUST A LANGUAGE WITH A VERY LIMITED VOCABULARY: POSITION AND OPERATION

Math is just a language like every other, consisting of referents (arbitrary categories), nouns (referrers, names of each instance of that category) verbs (operations) and agreement (true/false), but it has only one subject: positional relations, with only one property of its names (position).

Because of this singularity of content (name: position, action: operation) and scale independence (positional names), this ‘language’ we call mathematics, with which we produce statements (sentences), that we call well-formed (unambiguous), using the ‘grammar’ ( rule of continuous recursive disambiguation) of that language of positional names (math), and then modify (change) by operations (transactions) that preserve the constant relations (ratios), and therefore agreement (truth), we can describe any unambiguous set of constant relations humans can reference.

As such if we cannot describe a given set of relations with some degree of mathematical precision, by some form of proxy, then we cannot claim to make truth (agreement, agreeable) statements about it.

(Working on demarcation between pure mathematics and applied mathematics).

While this is an advanced topic, no non-trivial systems are closed without appeal to reality. (Realism, materialism, operationalism, empiricism, internally consistent, testifiable). This is why a proof is only a test of internal consistency and a truth requires coherence(reality).

@DSchrooner If you follow me for very long you will rapidly discover the excruciating detail I’m capable of going into on almost any subject. However, people can’t follow it. So instead, especially in tweets, I educate by inference over a few dozen posts. (Just ask me for definitions.)

@curtdoolittle @WorMartiN Apples, oranges and god knows what else. It looks like Western (European) just means dominant at the time; the winner. You don’t mean the fallen European empires do you? With survivorship bias it just doesn’t mean anything looking backwards. You are tying into a false concept.

    HUMAN CAPITAL

In that branch of economics called Political Economy, Human capital consists of the size of the population, their age distribution, their health, their fitness, their intellect and character, and the sum of training in behavior, skills, and knowledge: every physical emotional and intellectual asset a person can have.

Human capital is beneficial not just for the individual in achieving his or her full potential but that the economy and the polity achieve their fullest potential together when there is more human capital. This is rather obvious, but it helps to tie the world together for people.

The government relies on education as the primary means by which to ensure that everyone rather than just those who can afford it, can achieve their potential, and as a consequence the society achieves its greatest potential.

The reason for mass education was just as much to prevent so many indolent useless criminal malcontents as it was to improve the lives of children. lol.

We don’t often add that success is more dependent on the average intelligence and personality trait distribution of the group than it is on the education because that would be improper in the context.
