Dear Putin
Can we just fast forward to your suicide in a bunker?
Thanks.

Trump pulled the Ukrainian Miiltary aid because all aid given to Ukraine disappears (the previous $ 50B did) into ukrainian oligarchs, military, politicians, and bureaucrats.
This is an area of my expertise. Putin wouldn’t have risked Trump. Trump created an intentional air of martial unpredictability. His volatility combined with his openness for interpersonal discourse and search for compromise was a strategic utility.

I would probably fight for Russia on every single other subject than this one. I can’t bear the persecution of the Ukrainian people for wanting to follow the rest of the eastern Europeans into post-soviet prosperity when they easily see the problems in Russia are even worse.

As I said at the time a call from the Russian president to the heads of Europe, saying that “We cannot strategically allow the peninsula to fall into NATO hands, so we will be taking it over for x reasons. And we will heavily compensate Ukraine for this loss by Y means.”

THE USA HANDLED IT BADLY.
The correct response was, “of course,we can make it happen, it will take time, but assume it’s done.”
USA didn’t do that…. Stupid Fks.

Never encourage a hostile enemy by appeasement. We would (ukraine would have) happily traded the east for investment and discounts on resources. But taking it by deception and force was a threat to Ukrainian sovereignty and existence.

We can predict long-term and some medium-term trends because they are deterministic (largely demographic). What we can’t predict is the path of events from here to there. The best we can do is avoid catastrophic wars along the way.
