Truth=Decidable vs Preferable=Good
Men know the difference
Not all truth is preferable.
Not all preferences are true (possible)

And compare the set of influences and context-puppets to one another, to understand the total meaning of the work whether technological, emotional (self), political (political), or context (universal). I can state any and all of those analyses of any work. As should any student.

@KillerkattArt @DegenRolf The optimum analysis of any work, set of works, movement’s work, or civilization’s work, is to produce all three analyses and put them in competition with truth(meaning), beauty (aesthetics), excellence (craft), to discover what influenced the artist (context-puppet).

@KillerkattArt @DegenRolf I studied at one of the best theoretical art schools in america, and art theory and criticism was my first (and still best) work. One can make truthful (technical) claims. And one can make experiential claims. And one can make political claims. Or one can conflate them (lie).

Actually, it’s not ‘meaning’ it’s ‘sentiment’. Not only can we use words communicate meaning (reason), but we can load (sentiments), and usually by means of suggestion (deception). The ‘big lies’ are all constructed by this method, and postmodernism institutionalized it.

@DegenRolf Oh, shocking, words can generate meaning! And meaning increases value: Wow! Who ever would have guessed?

Should this be a triangle with
“The Law -> choice -> preference -> calories”
That would give us something like:
Truths
……..\
……..Decidable — >Goods?
……../
Deceits
Sort of like Politics?
Conservative
……..\
……..Rule of Law — >Libertarian(anarchism)
……../
Consumptive
Sort of like Elites?
Force
……..\
……..Reciprocity — >Reward
……../
Undermining
Like Personality Clusters
Established Male
……..\
……..market — >Ascendent Male
……../
Female

THE TRUTH ISN’T DESIRABLE IT’S JUST TRUE (DECIDABLE)
Nature consists of constant relations. We can describe those constant relations. Math is the language of positional relations, logic of set relations, and operations of humanly possible subjectively testable actions. Law consists in the test of the MOST constant relations possible.
So a) man creates descriptions of physical laws (applications of entropy), and b) man creates descriptions of natural laws (applications of reciprocity), c) judges discover those applications, and d) man issues command, legislation, and regulation, that is rarely if ever ‘law’.
So, I mean, I sense your frustration, but Aristotle started the project, Descartes and the British restored it, Darwin advanced it, and I’m completing it: the scientific method is complete. And it’s completed because we have that method for ALL disciplines now, not just physical.
And I don’t expect you to like it any more than the Semites liked Aristotle, the french and germans liked locke, smith, and Hume, or the Church liked Darwin, Menger, and Nietzsche. No one likes having their crimes (parasitisms) suppressed. We do it anyway. Returns are exceptional.

—“I don’t understand. Are you saying there is a formula to produce beautiful architecture, paintings, movies, music, statues etc”–Carl Persson
A formula is via positiva.
Science is via negativa.
So Reverse that.
Knowledge is not closed.
Language is not closed.
Symbolism is not closed.
We can know bad art.
We must discover good art.

Observer, Start, Positional Name: If you name zero (0) “start” and each ‘number’ a positional name then the ‘mystery’ of math rapidly disappears, with the only question being why didn’t we use the right of the decimal rather than the left. 😉
