    CULTURAL COMMENTARY: AMERICAN TRASH – TALKING

    Living with my brother in law and re-learning the fine art of american repartee. Americans evolved to add ‘macho’ and ‘hyperbole’ to British wit – creating absurd exaggerations as harmless insults.

    And it is like a comfort food if you’ve been away for a long time – especially amongst the eastern slavs.

    Americans also have a physicality that we share with our Russian Cousins, unlike our continental relations – whom always seem a touch effeminate to us. And this combination of macho insult, and traditional british intellectual insult, is a verbal sport that binds us.

    Ukrainans and Russians not only don’t find it funny, but think it is stupid. Hyperbole – another american trait – self effacing humor, self ridicule, and reciprocal humiliation, about one’s intelligence, character and masculinity, is alien to them. And I found myself constantly ‘corrected’ by the women in my life.

    However, this kind of humor can be used to form bonds of trust across vast differences in experience – and that is what was needed by americans whether in the military, the working class labor pool, or in our social and family groups.

    And for all my effeteness I love every ridiculous bit of it.

    Would I rather live as far as possible from one of america’s ‘immigrant cities’ (plantations)? Absolutely. Would I prefer to live in europe where the state is more protective of consumers? Yes I would. Would I rather live among the slavs? Yes. I would.

    I would sacrifice institutional veracity for a land where family is more important than individual and government; where men are free to act as men, and women as women; and where entertainment is provided by friends and travel instead of purchases. Because the future for a person in the east is family amidst limited consumption of non-familial goods. And the future of a person in the west is a little box of an apartment waiting to die – alone.

    Government in america, ad the hands of jewish socialists and New England puritans has destroyed the family, the culture, and nearly, the civilization.

    The price one pay’s is one’s comfort foods: institutional, cultural, and material.

    And it is a fair trade.

    Western Civ (like africa) was unable to capture a monopoly (water) resource as was china, north india, and the middle east. so it took longer to develop wealth through more distributed commerce, because of greater opportunity costs, instead of having the advantage of Mesopotamian or yellow river or indus river civilizations and their warmer climates. Asymmetry of environmental calories alone was prohibited.

    However, this apparent disadvantage forced the formation of a very different form of equally distributed capital in every possible part of society.

    This distribution caused an opportunity for sovereignty (egalitarian reciprocity) to evolve when combined with metal, wheel and horse.

    While I attribute Sovereignty to western martial order, and almost all of western achievement due to sovereignty, I am still unable to quite put together how western ‘obsession’ with deflationary reasoning right down to the very structure of our language, is necessarily a consequence? Is it merely that the principal function of truthfulness is deflation? That seems to be the case. But why would that result in deflationary institutions? Deflated methods of communication? Is it just the consequence of a civlization governed by all intents and purposes by a family-funded militia that invested heavily in heavy weaponry and training in every era?

    This is why Africa is so interesting to me. Because it seems to me that a christian Africa, with the disadvantage of it’s vast underclass, should simply take longer to develop than other civilizations. Africa does not have the geographic advantage of the levant or the steppe, so that it cannot so easily have gained information from other civilizations. the scale of the desert is inconceivable to all but the Chinese who are equally separated by it.

    my view is that christianity grants one another status signals and virtue signals for improving trust, by discounting slights, and thereby making it much easier to develop a commercial order than other religions. Except that europeans developed this behavior more than a thousand years before christianity was imagined. But maybe the current order requires a ‘christianity’ or its equivalent to move the lower classes into higher tolerance for slights, and placing more ‘bets’ on opportunities for cooperation and trade?

    Back to deflationary truth – all I can get is that deflationary truth leads to specialization, and specialization to competition between elites? That is the only answer I can come up with. It is fine to speak in myth as long as you don’t bring it into commercial law? Is this all it is? The competition between elites forces the elites in each method of communication to specialize in their method while not justifying the others, in order to seek status among peers?

    That is all I can model evolving.

    EASILY: (a) require testimonial truth in all public speech. (b) rescind copyright protection, replacing it with creative commons protection. (you may not profit from it at civic expense, and then neither may anyone else.). This reduces copyright to a trademark and therefore fraud issue rather than a license for unnecessary and perversive rents. Honestly, it’s that simple. We would crush the entertainment, advertising, media, propaganda, public intellectual, political in 120 days. That is all the cash flow that they have to survive with. Even the threat of it would wipe out the industry. As we have seen with book authorship, artistic authorship, and even independent cinema, the creative works would continue to be produced no matter what. There is no reason to subsidize them if by doing so we subsidize the production of critique (propaganda). The impact on civilization – reversing the economic incentives and economic possibility of engaging in the industrialization of lying, would vanish. If intellectuals professors, advertisers and marketers, industry and politicians, media and artists must warranty their works as truthful, then the size, scale, and composition of the information system will return to that which is possible and rewarding: truthful.
