    FACEBOOK: VALUE AND DECLINING VALUE

So, FB was of extraordinary value in:

    – developing the anti-libertine arguments

    – developing the truth arguments.

    – solving the problem of critical rationalism’s rationalism.

    – forcing me (always) to simplify my arguments.

But I need to (and I need others with me) to spend more time on the internet blogs soon where the more difficult arguments are conducted. I can’t do it yet, because the business is in too early a stage. But I will feel confident by the spring making that change in investment. Or rather, I will still sketch ideas here, but will spend a little more time writing for the blogs. Conservative and academic blogs are superior to libertarian blogs, whereas on FB libertarian arguments are superior to conservative arguments. This has to do with the distribution of our different talents in the biases.

    Cheers.

(nerd humor) I love the comments that accompany code checkins. Usually the best are one programmer criticizing another. Today’s lot included a chain of F–K peppered expletives over the organization of conditions. It’s just so genuine, and so HUMAN when I see this stuff – I love it.

It looks like uTorrent has something very naughty buried in its java code…. I can’t figure out what it’s doing. But it’s regularly doing something that it shouldn’t, because it shouldn’t be doing anything if its not running. I’m not interested enough to do the work to figure it out. I’d just assumed that it was a ‘clean’ app – and I was wrong.

    Java needs to die.

(Oversing Status : It is getting harder to find bugs and work needed to complete features for the Alpha. I do have one problem, that I have to choose between finishing billing and invoicing (boring and well understood) and finishing the cultural features (that differentiate the product), first. And I’m going to take a bit of a risk and go with what differentiates the product first at the expense of not allowing the user to immediately bill and invoice, because I am afraid the features won’t make it to Beta unless I keep pushing for them now. And I am afraid of alpha-users’s initial reaction – not understanding the scope of the product – without them. So, alpha will not have the full billing/invoicing or triangulation/estimating features complete. I have to wait for beta. As of today there are about 350 issues open. And while 125 of them are nit-bugs, the rest of them are all over the place.)

    GEEK TORTURE 🙂

So I send Vitalii a note that I am blown away at how fast the app is now, and he says that he can make it 5x faster, but that he won’t tell me how and I have to wait until the other work is done.

It’s like having your parents tell you that you must wait for a present until Christmas. 😉

SO GIVEN THAT FACEBOOK IS A WELL-DRESSED, CLOSED, EMAIL SYSTEM …

… for consumers, so that it can attract consumer advertising. Then what would a well-dressed closed email system for the workplace look like? In other words: **What would you replace Outlook with?**

    he he he.
