Was life a little more ‘brutal’ in the 1960’s, in rural America? Well sure. But there was something brutally honest about it, and something brutally true about it. And we never worried about locking our doors, or the myriad of neurotic visions the infantilize obsess over.

“When I was your age…” Tho seriously, when I was a kid “Boys fight. It’s normal”. Bullying was limited to teasing. And if not it ended up in fights. Fathers ‘visited’ other fathers if things got out of hand. Parents were responsible for their children and men for the commons.
