Not stealing, not cheating, not free-riding, not obscurantizing, not rallying and shaming, not lying, and not having to engage in fighting -other than a duel- and not engaging in conspiracy are signals of superiority. Stealing, cheating, free-riding, obscurantizing, rallying and shaming, lying and having to engage fighting – other than as a duel, or engaging in conspiracy – are signals of inferiority. One can survive by either means. But one is demonstrably superior in his abilities if he need not, and demonstrably inferior in his abilities if he must.
