IT’S JUST NOT ME. BRITS HABITUATE PETTY THEIVERY.

“Knicking-it” (stealing) is a long standing tradition in the UK. Siphoning off the state is as heroic a tradition as gypping your lord. Dramatizing your illness so that you can draw attention. Finding every excuse not to go to work. Working as little as possible. Drinking so much that it affects you work. And lauding vacation and laziness rather than achievement and effort. I mean, it’s not just me. I keep running into other businessmen that say lying, cheating, and small time theft are far greater problems in the UK than they are in the states. And while we see this same thing in the states it’s mostly a lower class phenomenon, not one of what we call the ‘middle’ (clerical and white collar) classes, and it isn’t ‘respectable’ it’s something we punish like hell for. Whereas in the UK, it’s as impossible to fire a crook as it is to fire a public employee in the states.

What the hell happened to our people?
