The universe, like our parents, births life which itself will replace that universe if successful. And expire like that universe if not. Life is deterministic. Action is deterministic. Intelligence is deterministic. Cooperation is deterministic. Self replacement is deterministic. That’s all the wonderous beauty we need.

–“I hear you’re a stoic.”– (a friend) I am (exist as) a bag of mostly water and a few chemicals that arranged in a particular order, we call ‘human’. (Although, that’s an opinion others have questioned. 😉 ) I practice a ‘complete’ version of science I call Testimonialism. That science tells me that stoicism provides the optimum personal mindfulness (mental training). And that Ritual, Feast, and Festival provide the optimum social mindfulness. And that commerce provides the optimum normative mindfulness. And that military service provides the optimum political mindfulness. And that history and heroic fiction we call myth provide the optimum general model of decidability. My ‘Belief System’ is here….

  • Another demarcation between science and psuedoscience, which I think is the one

Another demarcation between science and psuedoscience, which I think is the one that has been missing, is to attribute means, motive, and opportuntity to the universe that is not within it’s ‘interests’ (increasing entropy by first available means). Whereas man’s incentives (means, motive, and opportunity) are the opposite: to defeat entropy by the greatest return on investment.
