Turtles all the way down. In the end if there is no purpose to the universe, then there is only the accident of persistence by the concentration of energy in defeat of entropy.

If I were to anthropomorphize a purpose of the universe, it would be that it’s a very wasteful process by which to attempt to calculate the transcendence of at least one life form into gods than can save the universe from heat death.

That’s right. Purpose. Purpose requires intent. There is no intent. There is no purpose. All we can determine so far is that it appears that universes (meaning some section of the broader universe) for some reason or other, contract and then explode, and as the explosion dissipates almost all pressure is externalized into space, and a small percentage is concentrated into protoparticles, particles, and the most simple of elements. Then suns form and explode and produce more complex elements. There is no purpose to this. It’s we who determine purpose for ourselves.

You don’t mean ‘objective function’ since it’s just a deterministic result of the quantum background’s need to release pressure by either expansion into space or contraction into mass. What do you mean instead? (I know, but I wonder if you know.)

Samuel Huntington: In “The Clash of Civilizations,” Huntington discusses the role of civilizations in shaping world order, suggesting that Western civilization has had a disproportionate impact on modern political and economic systems.

Niall Ferguson: In books like “Civilization: The West and the Rest,” Ferguson delves into the six “killer apps” that he believes led to Western dominance. While not quantifying innovation per se, he does emphasize the contributions of the West to modern civilization.

Jared Diamond: While not focusing exclusively on Europe or innovation, Diamond’s “Guns, Germs, and Steel” seeks to explain why different civilizations have different levels of development and technological advancement, touching on similar themes as Murray.

Ian Morris: In “Why the West Rules—for Now,” Morris uses a multi-faceted index to measure social development across different civilizations throughout history. His focus is not solely on innovation but includes it as a significant factor.

David Landes: In “The Wealth and Poverty of Nations,” Landes explores why some nations achieve economic success and others do not. He examines the cultural and technological innovations that have contributed to this disparity, particularly emphasizing European contributions.

I am not here to convince you. You cannot falsify what I stated. Becaue you lack the knowledge of the subject matter to do so. And you’re using GSRRM to force me to educate you instead of you doing the work to produce a contrary argument. You are doing this because consciously or not, you do not have an argument other than your own ignorance, when your ignorance violates the principle of absence of evidence is not equal to evidence of absence.
