  • The Suppression of Eugenics: Self Directed Human Evolution

    September 12th, 2018 9:11 AM THE SUPPRESSION OF EUGENICS: SELF DIRECTED HUMAN EVOLUTION by Daniel Gurpide [E]ugenics – meaning the applied science for the self-direction of human evolution – is nowadays the object of Freudian, hypocritical repression. Although one may say that eugenic concerns are an implicit constant in most post-Neolithic cultures, the essential question of eugenics flares up with the advent of the Darwinian revolution, and of Mendelian genetics—which has long been considered one and the same with eugenics. This arose in anticipation of a very real dysgenic risk in modern times that ‘traditional’ selective factors would break down. Galton, who coined the term, defined eugenics as ‘the study of all agencies under human control which can improve or impair the racial quality of future generations.’ The philanthropic motives that encouraged him to develop the new science are beyond question: Man is gifted with pity and other kindly feelings; he has also the power of preventing many kinds of suffering. I conceive it to fall well within his province to replace Natural Selection by other processes that are more merciful and not less effective. The way of hunger, death, stupidity, delusion, chance, and bare survival—natural selection—is thus replaced by the way of life, will, aspiration, and achievement—conscious evolution—not merely on a temporary and local basis, as in ancient Sparta, but permanently and universally. Breeding may itself be considered an early aristocratic technique. Yet, it was impossible to return to earlier Western social forms based on a hereditary aristocracy that had achieved their position by means of the military accomplishments of their ancestors. Hence, in the early twentieth century, a current of thought headed in the direction of developing a natural aristocracy based on intelligence, moral probity, and meritocratic social mobility. This was the heyday of eugenics as a belief system common among European elites—both liberal and conservative. Ultimately, the eugenics movement was shattered; it was a victim of the outcome of the Second World War, although eugenics was not expunged from polite society until the 1960s as an outcome of an energetic campaign by Holocaust-haunted egalitarian intellectuals bent on striking a blow against their rivals (nevertheless, in Sweden the eugenics programme continued until 1975). However, before it was ‘cursed,’ eugenics had long been perceived—essentially until the 1930s—as a ‘progressivist’ theme, since it was linked to concerns about the evolution of society in general (and correlated with the latter ‘taking charge of itself ’), to the extent that even Soviet intellectuals and scientists promoted its study. In Germany, the philosopher Peter Sloterdijk—politically on the left—recently argued that, given the understanding existing in genetic science, the eugenic dream of ‘selection’ is now within reach. Sloterdijk’s use of the word ‘selection’ horrified, of course, his colleagues, for whom the word evokes the ramp at Auschwitz. What most worried critics, however, was Sloterdijk’s argument that this capability should be exploited to breed a new generation of human beings. Coming after Sloterdijk’s open letter in Die Zeit attacking Jürgen Habermas as the representative of an outdated humanism, suggestions were made that he was ‘flirting with fascism,’ which reveals the uncertainty and fear still evoked by the issue of ‘conscious evolution.’ The Sloterdijk controversy demonstrates the almost exclusively ideological nature of contemporary discussions of eugenics. This has been accentuated by the increasing erosion, because of technoscientific progress, of the subjective costs of eugenic practices. Such costs have plummeted ever since the exposure of newborns, and the strict parental or communal control of mating gave way to the chemical or surgical sterilisation of severely retarded individuals, as well as to birth control. These have been succeeded by prematrimonial anamnesis—replaced, in turn, by prenatal diagnosis and genetic screening. In turn, these will be supplanted by IVF with embryo and gamete selection; and, finally, by direct therapeutic manipulation of germlines. In fact, in respect of contemporary and upcoming procedures, the natural empathy for the individuals concerned operates in an entirely favourable sense—to the point of rendering unconditional rejection of eugenics an increasingly embarrassing and untenable position. The key issue regarding eugenics are which countries will develop it to its fullest extent. Francis Galton had already predicted in 1909 that ‘the nation which first subjects itself to a rational eugenical discipline is bound to inherit the earth.’

    (notes) 1) You (and jonathan) are correct that the internet has had the suggested effect, but incorrect that it has created a false impression. Instead, we all have a much more HONEST and UNFILTERED view of each group’s narrative and ambitions when absent curation by filters. The fact that you’re discounting this is rather odd, and I’ll expand this in a moment. 2) Pinker’s work misses (or artfully avoids the fact) that while violence has seemingly decreased, it has simply moved from physical attack on physical property to financialization and political parasitism that has redistributed middle and working class reproduction familial insurance, and retirement to the underclass and immigrants, and destroyed the nuclear family central to the USA’s groups strategy by malincentives in the name of virtues. 3) The principle problem in primary education is that the differences between racial groups is largely one of neotonic evolution in response to geographic demands. And that we mature at different rates, some faster and some slower, and that the rates of aggression and sensitivity to existential differences in irreversible sexual, social, economic, political, and market value come into play at different times, to different intensities. One cannot have any knowledge of the classroom and understand the violence that children are exposed to. Compare this to my current home in Ukraine where the homogeneity of the 1950’s is everywhere and conformity mandated everywhere, and civility still exists, despite being the only poor european country remaining. As far as I know the bottom has been repaired to wealth, health and nutrition and the Flynn effect is reversing. Why? It is more important to remove negative influences than try to create positive influences. We have lost vast portions of the always-troublesome white laboring and working classes to malincentives already. 4) The university isn’t as much a problem as pseudoscience: teach basic accounting, credit, micro and macro economic principles so that people undrestand the world we live in and why no alternative is possible. The university does not teach that the principle problem of differences in national income have to do with (a) degree of homogeneity, and (b) size of the underclass vs the middle class. Lastly is to cut the pseudosciences that women in particular create demand for, in exchange for vast student debt and no increase in calculative capacity. 5) The right does not see eugenic organization of society as oppression but domestication of humans just like all other animals and plants. Western civilization has been aggressively eugenic for all of its recorded history, with no myth of equality whatsoever. Limiting the damage of the bottom is seen as a necessary good. It’s very easy to survey any publication for ant-white posts and determine the ethnicity of the authors, and this drives the perception. The use of argumentative techniques of poly-ethicalism, ir-reciprocity, relativism, combined with shaming, rallying, gossip, and reputation destruction, and of Pilpul(sophism) and Critique(straw manning extension of rallying shaming etc); 8) The right is terribly empirical AND hyperbolic in its interpretation of empirical evidence. The denial of HBD, the Negative consequences of diversity, the reality of IQ and the value of every single point of IQ in the standard of living of the people, the uniqueness of high trust in northern europeans, the general hostility against white people is endemic. (Moreover, you are mistaken about the percentage of the population that is aggressively advancing revolutionary activism. It’s just underground, and like all underground movements produces status signaling as a reward for participants. (Note: I do not understand why chinese intelligence doesn’t pay the rural IQ cost like the rest of us, or if there is something in the collection of data or effect of literacy in character memorization that I don’t understand.). 12) The value of women added to the economy has been completely absorbed by increases in taxation. Ergo we have merely engaged in reproductive redistribution, and to the right wing white male, that just translates into genocide. Which is what is driving the right. “We were too kind, and let them win. With just that one law under johnson, they lied and we let them win.” My observation of both of you which is my observation of most people in the academy, is that understanding of economics in incentives, in behavior, in the micro economics that are perceptible to each of us, and macro economics that are not observable are counter to our intuitions, is as necessary a method of cognition as reading and mathematics, and that programming, being an operational and existential rather than sets and ideal is superior to mathematics. There is no commons possible to construct that is superior to upward redistribution of reproduction, and no harm that can be done to a polity other than it’s reversal. Lastly: We were wrong about south africa. The same is happening in southern brazil. And unless these are corrected the narrative will continue to accelerate.

  • Crime: Science Answers the Question: Geography, Economy, Neoteny and Class Size.

    Black males are (extremely) disproportionately responsible for crime, which corresponds to black disproportionality of the lower IQ curve, and the black disproportionality of the faster rate of maturity curve, and black disproportionality of the testosterone curve, and black dominance of the reverse-neoteny curve. Blacks have shorter gestation periods. Blacks have lower metabolisms useful in heat, but lower industriousness as a consequence, when this factor alone will produce as great a difference in income potential as intelligence. Stereotypes are not only a necessity of temporal and cognitive efficiency, but they are the most accurate measurement in the social sciences because they must survive daily falsification (survival from competition). Because blacks mature earlier, and are more socially dependent for judgement and experience teen status pressure earlier and more deeply, they are disproportionately affected by awareness of lower social, sexual, economic, and political market value – when in proximity to other groups (Diversity is a ‘bad’). Despite the fact that (affect of deeper maturity) have higher self confidence at conflict with signal feedback. Worse, black males are disproportionately from single mother homes. And single mothers produce the majority of children with problems, particularly with children that mature early. So it is somewhat ‘torturous’ to mix black, muslim, and Hispanic with white, asian, and jewish populations, which creates conflict when what each group needs is homogeneity so that they can develop norms, laws, and institutions that suit their rates and depths of maturity and their vastly different class distributions. The worst crime whites have done was not slavery, which was endemic, it was to copy the soviets and force integration and deprive blacks of their emerging norms and institutions, but also their emerging middle, professional, and upper classes, who ‘defected’ due to the cost of carrying the vast black underclass and laboring class, that cannot compete outside of it’s own demographic. Africans evolved to survive heat, disease gradient, parasite gradient, many predators, many many human competitors. They have superior physical traits from bones, to sprinting to hearing, to skin. This is because neoteny is dangerous in their ancestral environment wich rewards rapid and deep maturity, and they were not able due to distance from trade routes, able to institute an agrarian empire sufficiently concentrated per square mile to cause upward reproduction of the upper classes due to continuous starvation of the underclasses. The lower latitudes produce greater ability to expand the upper classes (higher neoteny), and the higher latitudes produce greater abiity to sustain the lower classes (Less neoteny). Ethnocentrism is always superior for the simple reason that we can produce norms and institutions that suit our group’s distributions without competing for norms and institutions with others that require different norms and institutions. We use the examples of ashkenazim and sub saharan african as extremes at both ends of the spectrum. But the spectrum of success at shrinking the population below the minimum necessary for self training (105) is available to every group. The question is whether the elites in any group can force this reproductive change. Because by and large that seems very difficult with the development of rifles, that produced military equality offset only by numbers, and prohibited a professional military caste from domesticating the population through agrarian production.
