  • The New Reconstruction of British and North Sea History

We see cultural adoption of British civilization on the continent, then after conquest by Rome and the destruction fo the druids, adoption of roman status signals and culture.     We had liberty in pre-history: rule of law and an independent judiciary in prehistory. The north sea peoples were constantly trading and inbreeding. As far as I can tell, we never developed centralized government and taxation, so we did not develop inventories and writing. That is because we never had to construct irrigation or armies. We would only have developed writing if we had expanded commerce sufficiently to require inventories and contracts. But we did not get the chance. Romans killed our civilization. Bede and the church lied to us to pretend they had civilized us. The Americans tried to restore our ancient civilization. But the Louisiana purchase and the failure to divide north and south into separate nations by aggressive conquest by the north, repeated the process. Knowledge is power.     The truth of any religion is the actions produced by its adherents. A religion is not what you believe it is, it is what we observe the results of its practice are. I know this infuriates Neo-Puritans, Jews, Muslims and Hindus if not Buddhists and Catholics, but the net result of it is that your religion produces outcomes, and those outcomes if different from outcomes in other religions, determines the properties of your religion. Not what you believe, not what you practice, not what you profess, not what you study, not what you teach – but what people do with belief, practice, profession, study, teaching.

    We have too much knowledge now that language, myth, narrative. ritual and belief are illusions that produce externalities. If you are poor, your culture and your religion, and that which you cherish, as well as the family you cherish, are responsible.

    I don’t have any respect for devoted atheism. The mythic is too important a producer of outcomes. Our ancient myths, from the greek to the germanic, to the Arthurian to the American revolution, to the Burkeian, to the science fiction of the golden age are more important than our religious, and rationalist traditions.

    The important reformations were Smiths (economics), and Darwin’s(our self image). . And the Marxist and syndicalist left, Jewish separatist, and neo puritan atheists, as well as the anti-Darwinian religious have attempted to suppress these narratives in an attempt to preserve authoritarianism: to preserve group bonds.

    GHANA AS A INSTRUCTION ON THE VIRTUES OF UNIVERSAL LOVE

    I have learned more that is more important to my understanding of the virtues of christianity by listening in on the debate among the Ghanians than I have from any other formal research. If I compare that to the debate in Islamic, Russian and Sinic societies, it is light years of difference. The debate is hindu society is interesting, and I see them beginning to catch up in small clusters. And I expect it to spread virulently in the educated classes. But there is a great difference between the vast size and power of the hindu empire, and the challenges facing Ghanians and Ukrainians who have vast evils on their borders, and institutionalized corruption that they must struggle against.
