    Hmm, we can disambiguate that a bit.
    People see extraordinarily accurately – just what the camera sees. In fact, we know how to mislead ‘seeing’ and it’s relatively difficult. We have to construct the means of fooling ‘seeing’ by intent. But seeing (disambiguating) is just the first step in perception. After that we perform auto-association, prediction, and biases in prediction, and wishful thinking to advance biases. So we IMAGINE what we want to. It’s not that we see, hear, and percieve reality differently. It’s that we imagine cause and consequence differently despite seeing reality accurately.
    People say the opposite because they don’t want to blame themselves. And correct themselves. That’s all.

    I’m trying to draw attention to the rather obvious progress of our minds and words as measurements that begin with what’s available to us at birth, and what we evolved over the millennia to COMPENSATE for the lack of precision in the measurements of our birth. 😉

    You haven’t done any linguistic analysis of text, nor do you grasp why controlled conditions are the reason for non-reproducibility. Economists know this and econ training seeks ‘demonstrated’ rather than ‘constructed’ behavior. So this is why social media is the ultimate research tool. Volumes of data, where especially on twitter, the activity consists largely of moral outrage generation, which in turn, provides the most accurate measure of unbiased behavior.

    Imagine that your job consists of taking advantage of social media as the first zero-cost method of running experiments in cognitive science (and psychology, sociology) that test demonstrated behavior – not reported, surveyed, constructed but demonstrated – and particularly demonstrated behavior that demonstrates the methods by which people lie, deny and undermine, in defense of sexual bias, moral bias, political bias, self image and status. Collecting this information and documenting those biases, and producing a history of the evolution of lying.

    Ugh. (a) social pseudoscience. (b) economists are aught that people report falsely, that almost all surveys and models fail replication, that they contrive their results, that sample sizes are too small, and that the samples rely on student volunteers most likely to virtue signal. This survey isn’t public, doesn’t state it’s N, and is constructed.
    Ergo: we use the opposite model of demonstrated preference in voting or economy. OR what I do, use social media to create a kink of the hill game, and provoke a moral outrage and record the logic by which individuals attempt to conduct deception or coercion in favor of their biases. Linguistic analysis is the most successful method to day of determining intelligence and personality, moral biases, and in my case … how people lie to themselves and others.
