    There is a significant intellectual problem that Wikipedia is contributing to by seeking traditional (mainstream) sources that supply editorial filtering of content, when the ascent and increasing dominance of political discourse is conducted outside of those traditional circles precisely because those traditional editorial filters have demonstrated consistent bias.

    We see today’s political movements as extremely reactionary, on all three points of the political compass. The contemporary version of Paris in the 20’s is taking place on the internet, and instead of pamphlets that compete against newspapers, we are producing internet content against television, radio, magizine and newspaper. Precisely to overthrow the previous generation of thinkers and the political strategies that they advocate on both sides.

    Circular. The question is whether or not you are in fact relying upon quality sources, or making excuses with which to intentionally bias the content. When you use the term ‘quality’, what you mean is ‘sources requiring physical capital to produce’. This is in fact the criteria. The quality of the material is not in fact a criteria. The truth content is not in fact a criteria. Only that it cost someone something to produce it. That is your criteria. In any event. I have better things to do. But falsehood is still falsehood. And in the current era, capital is not relevant. Author and survival of theory from criticism is. Any imbecile can rank capital. It takes specialized knowledge to construct criticism. And capital is no longer a sufficient criteria for determining anything whatsoever. -Curt.

    Of all the skills we can be taught the Trivium is the most important. It is the art of testimony – of teaching all children to judge the truth or falsehood of statements. Why would you no longer teach Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric? Unless you wanted children to lie? The Trivium Gives Us Skills in Truth Telling (Not my definitions) 1) Grammar teaches the mechanics of language to the student. This is the step where the student “comes to terms”, i.e. defining the objects and information perceived by the five senses. Hence, the Law of Identity: a tree is a tree, and not a cat. 2) Logic (also dialectic) is the “mechanics” of thought and of analysis; the process of identifying fallacious arguments and statements, and so systematically removing contradictions, thereby producing factual knowledge that can be trusted. NOTE: I would replace logic with ‘testimony’. 3) Rhetoric is the application of language in order to instruct and to persuade the listener and the reader. It is the knowledge (grammar) now understood (logic) being transmitted outwards, as wisdom (rhetoric). The Quadrivium gives us Application of truth telling which is absent morality and cooperation arithmetic – accounts geometry – Spaces and distances. astronomy – Physics music – composition (Aesthetics) Note that these are all statements of measurement Philosophy and Theology ended one’s education. You can also lie in philosophy simply by choosing the standard in-group categories rather than the full set of categories. If you start with this list: Metaphysics, Epistemology, Ethics, Politics, Aesthetics. You will produce very different conclusions from this list: Existence (physics) Metaphysics (actionability) Biology (reproductive strategy) Psychology (biases and limits) Family (organization of reproduction) Epistemology and Truth (Testimony) Ethics (Logic of Cooperation) Sociology (Organization of Production) Politics and Institutions (Organization of production of commons) Group Evolutionary Strategy Warfare Economics Science and Technology.     This post is private, between you and I.

    Although, at some point, I would love to have this in public a bit if you’re OK with it. Because others can learn from it.

    But I think you have just come to the same place I was when working on truth and discovered what all the pseudoscientists had done to us. I was livid. Over the next year I understood how they lied. I developed a way to counter it. I understand the anger. I undrestand the betrayal. I understand the nature of their evil just as I understand the evil that women have done at their behest.

    What do we do with this knowledge and anger? What do others need to understand? What can others do to come to the same depth of understanding? Can they do so?

    I am still furious three years later.

    University of Phoenix scam era is over.

    The only way to warranty diplomas is to make universities responsible for defaults, and to limit collection to prime, and pay out of payroll deductions.

    The worst thing in the world for us has been student loans.

    At the very worst, educational loans should come right out of the treasury at the rate of inflation. But to do that congress would have to be forbidden from any and all schemes to ‘give it away’.

    Universities don’t teach much material.

    They filter

    They train you in how to work in a disciplined and self regulated environment.

    But education? Not so much. And what they do teach is largely useless.

    You pay a lot of money to get in, and to survive a post-industrial boot camp.

    But that’s all that appears to be going on.

    Industry hires people who can survive the boot camp.

    I am not referring to calculative classes (stem).

    Most of university training is just as dogmatic in the self defense of the cathedral as was socialism or christianity before it.

    It’s nonsense.

    Return to Technical Colleges that train the working class.

    Invest in production that consumes the working class.

    Prohibit rent seeking by the working class.

    Teach STEM classes to the middle and upper middle class.

    Those of us who consume the great works dont need to pay anyone to help us. In fact, those people probably do more harm than good.

    But if we wish to study tha great works, and I certainly would, then the professor himself is the only Value, the good we obtain is intangible, and the university environment is probably counter-productive.

    Need to:

    1 – Make every university educator in the soft disciplines sign a warranty of restitution.

    2 – Hand control of all but physical plant to professors.

    3 – Separate teaching from researching P&L’s entirely.

    4 – Fund education as a payroll deduction from future earnings, against credit given by the treasury.

    Eliminate the moral hazard. Rig the incentives.

    I am also open to treating all arts and letters as recreational rather than professional training, and not covered by education credit.

    (Spoken as someone with a fine art and art history education who values it as priceless.)
