  • Armies of Lies Instead of Armies of Men: War at a Discount.

[T]here are always malevolent people in the world. They simply lack the means of acting. Raising an army is actually quite hard. But we dont need to raise armies any longer. We celebrated the benefits of literacy. But we celebrated literacy among our culture of truth telling. We did not account for the misuse of literacy, the misuse of printing, the misuse of education, the misuse of radio, television, and film to construct elaborate lies. The most important was, to justify lying. The abuse of information systems whether it be the pricing system, or the education system, or the media, has been just as damaging as any war or plague – perhaps more so. We have survived the thirty years war. The world war. But we did not survive I suspect, a century and a half of lying (pseudoscience).

    A PROHIBITION ON TRUTH

    They are prohibiting truth.

They made our ignorance something to celebrate.

They made our passions something to surrender to.

They made freedom of speech and virtue of opinion morally superior to speaking the truth and only the truth.

    They buried us in pseudoscience

They have manufactured a moral prohibition on truth, and a mandatory license for lies.

They say ‘what harm are these little lies?’.

They declared war on the people who speak the truth. When our only cultural advantage is that we speak the truth.

Is truth teh domain of warriors, and all else deception?

    PUNISHING THE LIAR ELITE

—“The job of our elite is to identify lies and punish liars. Unfortunately, they’ve joined in. Now we must punish our elites.”— Eli Harman

If that isn’t a mission statement, I don’t know what is.

    WHY IS IT IRONIC?

WE: “The People Who Tell The Truth”

THEY: “The People Who Taught Us To Lie”

(Using very elaborate techniques I might add.)

We are a trusting and naive people.

The worlds best warriors are the most trusting and naive people.

    Why is that ironic somehow?

    Sigh.

http://yoelinbar.net/papers/political_diversity.pdfPolitical Diversity in Social and Personality Psychology

Yoel Inbar and Joris Lammers – Tilburg University

—“A lack of political diversity in psychology is said to lead to a number of pernicious outcomes, including biased research and active discrimination against conservatives. The authors of this study surveyed a large number (combined N = 800) of social and personality psychologists and discovered several interesting facts. First, although only 6% described themselves as conservative “overall,” there was more diversity of political opinion on economic issues and foreign policy. Second, respondents significantly underestimated the proportion of conservatives among their colleagues. Third, conservatives fear negative consequences of revealing their political beliefs to their colleagues. Finally, they are right to do so: In decisions ranging from paper reviews to hiring, many social and personality psychologists said that they would discriminate”—
