It’s very difficult to understand what RU is doing. If you lose a tank it’s 5M. If you lose an attack aircraft it’s 70M or more. AFAIK RU was saving the air force as a means of defending against the west, not as a means of attacking UA. It’s entirely possible that RU will choose to expand the war into eastern UA and/or POL/DEU/Baltics by air, in order to progress in UA by ground. They can attack supply lines just as we can.

Of course, if they do that then NATO will enter with air and whatnot. And AFAIK RU is positioning tacticals to enter the north sea etc to cause NATO to back down because RU assumes the west will flinch.

RU has no choice but to escalate.

It’s so small it doesn’t matter. The SS&M/M burden is so large that there is no way to make it sustainable without adding at least seven years to the retirement age. The total discretionary budget is just 1/3 of revenue. Until we repatriate industry from overseas, increase the earnings of the laboring and working classes, and stop immigration so that we can increase teenage/young-adult and elder employment instead. There is no alternative.

    We’ve exhausted persuasion.
    We’ve exhausted voting.
We have yet to exhaust the courts.
After that we can exhaust the last option, repeating the American and English revolutions, by demand from the Congress.
After that, it’s pointy objects, rope, and setting everything on fire.

FEMA is as useless after hurricanes as the CDC and the WHO are for epidemics. Organizing the private sector under the military or guard in times of crisis is the faster, easiest, and most powerful method of reacting to emergencies – not depending on an agency that does nothing useful at all.

    @Stoic_Media
    Max,
Is the monetary condition of Pakistan, Turkey, Russia, (Egypt) etc in your field of view? If not I’ll ask elsewhere. 😉

If so, can you answer a question? I’ve an enviable record of prediction of major movements in the past but something has changed over the past few years, and it’s increasingly difficult for momentum to accumulate despite the negative signals and the determinism of the world condition.

So, I’ve been attributing this to the availability of information worldwide, and the cunning of the big banks, central banks, and the treasuries, at reacting rather quickly. And response times world wide are narrowing sure. But should momentum downward be building anyway? What’s causing the optimism (or pretense of it)?

    Thanks

YOU CAN’T PUT ANY STOCK IN THE WAR COMMENTARIAT

Too many talking heads now popularizing work and opinions by people with their heads in the daily data. Like everything, the trickle-down effect is a telephone game of increasing bias, and selling bias as searching for clicks.

It is very difficult to know what RU is up to.

It is unclear with UA is up to other than maintaining a war of Russian attrition. (Note that Putin is starving the mercenaries, because their leader became too public, competing for attention. And Ukraine has effectively killed most of them.)

It is very easy to understand that the USA is not ramping up production of consumables (rpg’s, manpads, missiles, and shells) and so in a war of attrition we can easily lose against a foe who will throw hundreds of thousands of bodies as bullet, shrapnel, and concussion magnets.

It’s clear that the Five Eyes (Anglosphere Intel) are very good at what they do, and know more than the RU do. But the absence of activity over the past six weeks is troubling. And the timidity of giving UA more advanced weapons given the rate at which they develop skill in them is amazing. UA isn’t working with 19-year-old recruits from the backwaters. The people they’re training are mature or middle age with experience on the front lines. They learn quickly and want to apply what they learn.

The only confidence I ever obtain is from Gen. Milley or one of the other top brass says something declarative. And from the bloggers who keep track of map activity on all sides.

It’s very easy to understand what Poland and the Baltics are doing: replacing germany and France as the core partner of the USA/UK in NATO.

It’s very easy to understand what Germany is up to (as little as possible).

It’s very easy to understand what France is up to: the fall of Russia puts France in charge of Europe – when by and large everyone else wants germany in charge.

The UK is right. The aristocracy is generally right. WHy? British moralism isn’t shallow Christian like american. It’s their moral high ground. A high ground we don’t have.

    WHY THE WORLD WARS?
    (a heterodox but correct explanation)

The Classical Restoration begins first in Italy then in England and culminated in the Muslim conquest of Byzantium and the blocking of ports. This caused the west to create the age of sail, followed by the literacy, legal, political, commercial, financial, industrial, and technological sequence of revolutions.

Just as agrarianism spread out of Anatolia and the levant, this series of revolutions spread out of England and created a series of wars of adaptation in Europe both intellectual, political, economic, military, and religious.

Every single civilization and sub-civilization and state, rebelled against the English invention of the modern state, the European restoration of greco-roman cognitive tradition of empiricism and agency over nature, and heroism as contribution to the commons.

The french with Rousseau and napoleon, the germans with Kant and Hegel et al, the Jews with Marx et al, the Chinese with mao, etc. Islam and Judaism are now processing that transition. Iran, some of islam, all of China and the government of Russia are attempting to reverse it, and India is still stuck in soviet bureaucratic corruption, incompetence, and delay.

The core of europe for over a thousand years was the HOly ROman Empire of the Germanic Peoples. That empire slowly ‘domesticated’ the people to the east, largely by trade followed by some migration.

Napoleon destroyed the HRE, forcing the organization of the german state out of self defense – from imperial france and Russia. World war one was the attempt of the germans to regain their sovereignty and safety, and limit both France and Russia from aggression. This turned out to be rather tragic because it was the first fully industrial war.

In WWII the germans were surrounded again, by the growth of liberalism, socialism, marxism and communism. They felt boxed between what they considered the decadence of liberalism and french socialism, and the decadence and tyranny of communism. So they adopted an ethnocentric, military, total-war, state model as had Napoleon and the French, as well as the Russians. Fundamentally it wasn’t an innovation over the monarchy other than the philosophical justification for modern political rule rather than ancestral inheritance and traditional rule.

When they discovered that the Russians would act, they acted first. And in retrospect it appears that the germans were pragmatically and morally correct in both wars- we were wrong. Were they more wrong than the communists? Obviously not. Were they more wrong than the classical liberals and french socialists? They had a much harder political problem then, just as Russia and China have a much harder problem today – multiethnic empires can’t tolerate the democracy of small homogeneous, ethnocentric, protestant, northern European states.

So as I’ve said, history will get over the war and postwar propaganda and study the evidence and incentives and determine that we killed Europe when we killed its heart – Germany.

And history will judge us fools for it.

So that’s my answer. And it’s the correct one.
But like many correct answers, they often tell us we were wrong, and we don’t like it.

  • COLLAPSE OF ROME VS USA (The Crisis of the Age) First, a reminder that Polities

    COLLAPSE OF ROME VS USA
    (The Crisis of the Age)

First, a reminder that Polities are Systems that require physical, formal, traditional, normative, empirical, tacit and explicit knowledge, informational, cognitive, and genetic capital, that produces the ability for sexes and classes and regions to cooperate with minimum friction, risk and conflict.

All polities are like all other systems, ecologies, economies, or machines. There is nothing special about polities. But like Anna Karinenna’s family, all successful polities are the same, and all unsuccessful polities are different. Because it requires many things to go right, and few things to go wrong if a polity is to not regress, to survive, or to prosper.

And while the West discovered the optimum by accident(trifunctionalism, rule of law, individual responsibility, society as military hierarchy where all who do their duty are due respect), producing faster evolution than all others in the bronze, iron, steel, and industrial ages, that optimum is fragile, because it is costly, and many people are in fact, demonstrably unwilling or unfit for the psychological and emotional cost of that responsibility.

    CAUSES OF FAILURE

    1. Low Productivity – (the decline of the laboring, working, and middle class since the 1970s.)

    2. Decreased Fertility – (hate-based feminism, the pill, abortion, taxation, education costs, female-non-degrees vs export of production work overseas.)

    3. Immigration and Import of Slaves – (waves of third world immigration creating a permanent underclass, including Muslims as the least integrating, and Latins, and the remaining African Americans as a permanent underclass)

    4. Commercial (Trade) Territorial Complexity – (The end of the postwar order created by the USA to defeat the communists, raising the world out of poverty, and the restoration of civilizational (imperial) networks at small country expense.)

    5. Dependence on Eastern Trade from Remote Italy – (export of strategic and technological production to foreign countries, dependence on worldwide income for major companies).

    6. Overextension of administration given founding population – (replacement of Anglo-Saxon empirical administration based on merit, by female, Jewish, and non-Anglo-Saxon bureaucracy based on credentialism.)

    7. Christian undermining of the founding population – (Repetition by Jewish intellectuals, this time using the Marxism(lower class)-NeoMarxism(cultural)-Postmodernism(Truth, history, science)-Feminism(anti-male, anti-family)-Libertarianism(Middle Class)-NeoConservatism(upper class)-PC(language)-Woke(race) new pseudoscientific and sophomoric religion.

    8. Dilution of the Legions – (Clinton-Obama Woke Military)

    9. Resulting in Corruption and Political Instability – (Loss of confidence, trust, and legitimacy of our institutions)

    10. Migration and Raids b/c of migration into the vacuum of the Celtic Holocaust – ( repopulation of Europe and the North America by aliens)

    11. Plague of Justinian – ( covid is just the first of the new risks due to density and urbanization)

No one is coming to save you. Either you’ll save yourselves from this new collapse or it’s war and dark ages. And this dark age might just be the Great Filter that explains our loneliness in the universe.
