WHEN DID WE STOP ENFORCING TRUTH, AND WHY?

When did we, the aristocracy, stop enforcing truth telling at the point of a sword? Seriously. When and why?

Did we hold truth as a life or death standard only between ourselves?

Did we extend the franchise without extending the requirement for truth telling?

Sigh. We thought it was just property ownership that was required. But property ownership requires truth telling.

We didn’t understand that universal enfranchisement meant opening the pandora’s box of lies.

Or is it worse, in that we could profit from lying? I can’t find that evidence. What I find evidence of, is that the liars found profit in lying to one another.

MISES AS ADVOCATE FOR FREE RIDING, THEFT AND HATRED OF MAN

(worth repeating) (so harsh, so true)

Mises, like many of his contemporaries, correctly intuited that something was wrong with the direction if economic inquiry, but he, even less so than his peers in math and science, was unsuccessful in identifying it. And instead resorted, like freud, cantor, marx, to elaborate verbal pseudoscientific argument, unsupported by empirical evidence, to justify his preconceptions of how economics ought to work if it worked for the benefit of investors rather than the benefit of the commons (everyone).

Mises constructs a model whereby we pay absolutely nothing for the maintenance of the commons. He applies the ethic of the ghetto. The commons is taken for granted – unpaid for and uncared for. And if there is a commons, he wants us to free-ride upon it, rather than pay for it. Which makes sense if you’re a culture of migratory pastoralists, but not if you’re a culture of landed agrarians and industrialists who treat the land and the commons as sanctified.

In other words, Human Action is a justification of free riding on the commons. It’s a justification for immorality. A justification for theft. By a man who is either ignorant of, or hateful of, mankind so much that he would devote this amount of work to yet another pseudoscientific act of deception. Not on the scale of Marx or Freud, but only because he had a smaller market for his ideas.

Yes, the state bureaucracy is predatory, but that does not mean we abandon all commons’, it means we abandon the bureaucracy.

This is the correct interpretation of Mises: as an advocate for investors who used pseudoscience to justify his preconceptions.

    INSURANCE FOR PUBLIC SPEECH?

If one had to be insured to issue public speech (sort of like homeowners insurance – everyone had it) then we would rapidly evolve classes in making public speech, which would demonstrate how to witness (truth telling). (Heinlein suggested something of this order.) Now some speech advocates theft, and some does not. Some purports to convey truths, and some does not. This is essentially restoring the greek discipline of rhetoric in an age where media replicates faster than greek era human voices could quell. This is also much closer to anglo saxon law. Why is it that I an produce a ladder that subjects people to harm and am accountable, but if I advocate a political policy that causes millions of deaths, I am not accountable?

(Looking for non-reactionary problems with this, without giving a lot more detail, so that I don’t color it too much.)

  • Armies of Lies Instead of Armies of Men: War at a Discount.

[T]here are always malevolent people in the world. They simply lack the means of acting. Raising an army is actually quite hard. But we dont need to raise armies any longer. We celebrated the benefits of literacy. But we celebrated literacy among our culture of truth telling. We did not account for the misuse of literacy, the misuse of printing, the misuse of education, the misuse of radio, television, and film to construct elaborate lies. The most important was, to justify lying. The abuse of information systems whether it be the pricing system, or the education system, or the media, has been just as damaging as any war or plague – perhaps more so. We have survived the thirty years war. The world war. But we did not survive I suspect, a century and a half of lying (pseudoscience).

Race is only a problem because of democracy – because of monopoly rule, and the power granted to the winners of monopoly rule, over others. Instead, polycentrism, and aristocratic egalitarianism, are merely a means of cooperating between families, on behalf of families. Under democracy heads of classes are forced into conflict for power. Under aristocracy we are placed only into market competition. An aristocrat has no possible reason for conflict with other aristocrats from any background in the world. Democracy is the reason for racial conflict. Otherwise we can just cooperate or engage in conflict as we have always done – regardless of race, and entirely because of economics.
