    [S]ince social status is conferred in many different ways — everything from race to geography to class — all people are both privileged and non-privileged in certain aspects of their life. Furthermore, since dynamics of social status are highly dependent on situation, a person can benefit from privilege in one situation while not benefiting from it in another. It is also possible to have a situation in which a person simultaneously is the beneficiary of privilege while also being the recipient of discrimination in an area which they do not benefit from privilege.

    I am pretty sure that philosophy when it’s’ not seeking algorithms, but persuasion, is in fact MOSTLY SIGNALING.

    So and so speaker, actress, musician, diva etc, demands these things from his/her hosts.

    You know, this stuff is pretty normal – its not demanding. When you come to talk somewhere they ASK YOU what you want for intelligent reasons. You write it into the agreement. For me I want apples, pears, bananas, coca cola, Evian. No local bottled water please. Coke is safe world-round, grapes contain allergens that set off my asthma, and other fruits are too challenging to be sure are safe. If I can’t eat local-anything, I can survive on Evian, fruit and coca cola for a few days – especially if I can find granola bars.

    If you haven’t lived your life in planes, airports, taxis and hotels over many time zones – and done so for extended periods, then you don’t really grasp how important it is to have ‘anchors’ – things that are familiar. I stay in five star hotels for an extra two or three hundred dollars a night. I fly business class. And I eat very carefully. Because otherwise I can’t PERFORM my function when people pay a LOT for you to perform your function. (and get really angry if you can’t.)

    Now if you’re just an average joe that doesn’t matter. But when people pay you real money for your time, and when their time is precious, the RISK of non-performance is a serious issue for everyone involved. So rooms that are away from elevators (noise) above a certain floor (noise) without the hindi-family next door (noise), where you can count on the heat, air-conditioning, and cleanliness (disease). Where fans, prostitutes, scam artists, paparazzi, thieves, and whatever are trying to put you on the defensive or get your scarce, tired, attention.

    So it’s not self appreciation that these things are meant to serve, but SELF PRESERVATION.

    Only privileged […insert derogatory….] who live life in a western-bubble fail to grasp this kind of thing.

  • Ending Demand For Racism

    [T]he only reason your race is behind my race or any other race is the difference between rates of reproduction of the classes. Just as my race is behind or a head of other races because of our suppression or lack of suppression of birth rates at the bottom. That’s it.

    So fix it. Because until you do, racism will persist – and should. Because any other behavior is illogical. It is not the color of your skin or the shape of your nose, but the percentage of your population in the bottom half of mankind.

    Human life isn’t universally sacred. It’s just that anyone who demonstrates disregard for human life is a potential risk and threat to the rest of us. But just because disregard for life is dangerous doesn’t mean you’re worthy of redistribution – or even the consumption of oxygen. You’re merely a moral hazard for the rest of us.

    If you or your offspring can’t find a way to participate in production without externalizing your costs, then you aren’t a precious snowflake. You’re a moral hazard, and a drain on both humanity and the planet. And the source of the demand for a political class that exploits productive people to fund the dysgenic and unproductive.

    You cannot deny this argument without in turn demonstrating your racial bias.

    So control reproduction. A woman has no intrinsic right to bear a child, and a man no intrinsic right to spawn one.

    That is the only way we get to equality. Equality in fact, not in lie.

    And I agree: equality is a moral ambition.

    Francis is a firm statist. His analysis is always valuable and insightful. However, his conclusions rarely follow from his premises. At least in the circles I travel in, we recommend reading his works (particularly Trust and Orders, but ignoring his conclusions which are merely projections.

    I can understand why he consistently falls into extending a current trajectory: he has too little understanding of both economics and why the west rose twice, so rapidly, once freed from ignorance.

    I kind of suspect he would not agree with me, (or Hayek) that the late 19th through early 21st centuries represented yet another age of mysticism – one of pseudoscientific mysticism this time around. But I am pretty confident in a debate I would win that argument.

    But then, he is part of the Cathedral’s reality-distortion-field, and he has heavily invested in his priors.
