Well, it turns out that there are a set of personality traits that cause us to prefer truth before face etc. And like Anna Karinena’s families, all of them have to be present for us to prefer truth.

(The only thing that phones have done to help in high school is insure you’re a bit safer than we were before them. We’ve forgotten how vulnerable it could feel with something as simple as walking home in bad weather, or not being able to tell your parents where you are, or your parents not telling you that or why they’re late. Or perhaps the general utilly of a 911 call when scared. Maybe different for urbanites, but for suburbans and rurals, just cell phones, forget smart phones, was a significant improvement in peace of mind. The only other thing I really would have appreciated then as I do as an adult is Maps and GPS. As for all the social media, despite my enthusiasm the evidence is that it’s been a catastrophe.)

Tip: limits. Limit based reasoning. Opportunity- Supply – Demand- Exhaustion Curve.
    Behavior is regulated by limits.
Behaviors rely on prediction and selection of opportunities (time)
In physics, limits are narrow in time.
Physics relies only on opportunity (now in time).
Behavior, limits are less narrow over time.
    But the limits exist.
Evidence of cycles of opportunity-to-exhaustion in everything, and the universalism of reciprocity within whatever portfolio of norms is possible for each group.

Meaning: people can predict and choose. But over time they must predict within limits of failure. Hydrogen and oxygen can’t choose to make water. Humans can choose this opportunity or that. But they still have to produce sufficient energy, sufficient cooperation to obtain it, to survive.
The only difference then is TIME.

    (body counts)
I remember when Amanda asked me for my body count. I made a list. I could remember almost every name. It was in the twenties, and I had to wrack my memory back to high school to do it.
(I never ask women. I generally figure it out. But I never ask.)

Why the 20s? Because I have nothing but long-term relationships and failed attempts at long-term relationships. And that was a lifetime number at age 50. I wouldn’t even date someone without the intention of a long term relationship. Just don’t understand why anyone needs attention so badly that they want to swap bodily fluids for exercise. It’s a ‘bad investment’.
Maybe I was too focused on meaningful things, like knowledge, career, relationships, (money), wealth, achievement. In other words ‘meaning’.

So, body counts? IMO it means you’re shallow and vapid. Besides, I’ve hired and spent a lot of time with high earners, especially in sales, and all those that have high body counts cheat and ruin their lives. Now, I’ve got a few of those male friends that view it as a video game and try to get into the thousands. And then they get ‘struck’ by some woman and turn into devoted husbands. But those aren’t common.

IMO it’s the absence of meaning that drives us to hyperconsumption of base instincts.

Why am I even talking about this? Partly I’m sort of disgusted on one hand, awed at the decline in morals, and exasperated at the destruction of marriage and the family that’s resulted. But if the data continues to play out, what’ happening is that ‘bad people’ are selecting themselves out of the gene pool by ‘one child policy’. And so it’s a race between educated women with one child, and trash with one child for who wins the reproductive lottery. šŸ™

Me: “Well the LLM’s are contextually aware, but not self aware, and certainly not self-vs world aware.”

Martin: “Many people aren’t self-aware either.”

See how he does that? You see?
Now, a proper English intellectual would say that with a bit of wry humor. But a proper Czech intellectual just states it as an obvious expressionless fact, as if you should know it already. šŸ˜‰
