(worth repeating) [W]e tend to think of mathematics as calculation (it is) but language is also a form of calculation, and we have just (or I have just) begun to understand that language is a means of calculating (transforming inputs and outputs) in a market (competition) for signaling and influence, that produces continuous improvements in knowledge IF not impeded by error (supernatural, magical, ideal) all of which prohibit precision and increase error counter to the natural, scientific, and operational descriptions.

—“I hope everyone who reads these posts on natural law realizes how precious this wisdom is.”— John Mark

[T]he idea that natural law is discovered science the result of which produces a formal logic of decidability in all matters of sentience is very hard to grasp given our history of moral variation in relation to geography, demographics, and economy, and the multitude of falsehoods we have invented to justify one order or another given those same constraints.

[I]’m not the first person to point out that British (English) superiority was and still remains concentrated in what they call the middle, and we would call the upper middle, class. And that there has been very little rotation in and out of it. IQ variation by british german and scandinavian immigration group remains the same in the USA today. Hence why pooling groups is somewhat less helpful.

—“There is a significant error in Peterson’s calculation. He claims that Jews with IQ’s of 145 or above are, in percentage terms, commensurate with their proportion of millionaires / billionaires. However his baseline for the total is merely the Jewish and White population. However, White Americans now make up little over 60% of the overall population. His baseline thus comprises only 63% of the total US population. To use the entire US population as a baseline would reduce millionaire numbers to 25% of the total. Peterson’s calculation therefore only adds up if he assumes that there exist no 145+ outside of the US’ White and Jewish populations. Although it might be argued that US adult population demographics are likely to increase the accuracy of Peterson’s baseline, it nevertheless remains considerably off.”— Aaron Kahland

    (by Curt:
As far as I know the jews just have a wider distribution than we do, just as I suspect east asians have a narrower distribution than we do. So this means that the Ashkenazi produce outliers just as the upper caste anglos doe. But that little difference means 2x 130+ and 1×140+ for every one of ours. And we tend to think of mathematics as calculation (it is) but language is also a form of calculation, and we have just (or I have just) begun to understand that language is a means of calculating (transforming inputs and outputs) in a market (competition) for signaling and influence, that produces continuous improvements in knowledge IF not impeded by error (supernatural, magical, ideal) all of which prohibit precision and increase error counter to the natural, scientific, and operational descriptions. Hence white performance in the physical era and jewish performance in the verbal era. )

September 21st, 2018 11:46 AM AGAIN. USE OPERATIONAL LANGUAGE TO AVOID THE FALLACIES OF IDEALISM, CONFLATION, AND PRETENSE OF KNOWLEDGE [We] can speak truthfully, we can claim others speak truthfully, but it is our speech about existence, or experience, or the imaginary that ‘is true’ (coherent, consistent, correspondent, operational, and complete) or not. No such thing as ‘truth’ exists that is not a promise by someone that a statement is coherent, consistent, correspondent, operational, and complete ENOUGH to satisfy the demand for infallibility. Existence just exists. It’s state continuously changes (entropy). We can make statements about some state or change in state over some period of time (periodicity, frame), but only our promise to the coherence, consistency, correspondence, operational possibility, and completeness can be claimed as ‘true’ because that is the meaning of truth: testimony. As to logic, logical must and only can me, constant relations (consistency) between two or more properties (identity) or states (logic). (Because that is all that neurons do: test for differences or their absence as differences.) Therefore a statement is falsifiable. It is false (certain), true (possible), or undecidable (unknown). if a statement is undecidable, then deductions from it are undecidable, but in formal logic we state that the undecidable is to be treated as false.

September 21st, 2018 11:28 AM CODDLING AND CAUSE
by John Mark [T]his coddling Haidt writes about is a result of the West, particularly American parents, taking for granted the results of our world-leading rule of law (yes, far from perfect, but still fantastic compared to most of the world) and incomparable power for granted, and trying to take it too far. The parents of today’s millennials lived an era where the US had no competition, and was a whiteopia. For their kids, they are trying to create a situation where there is no conflict, and if any arises, an authority figure is summoned to punish the “troublemaker” (any boy with testosterone, anyone who questions the status quo/PC, anyone who is not “nice”, etc). In a sense it is the inverse of having a militia. Softness. Feminism. Etc. And the naivete manifests in their politics too. The lefties say “Everything would be great if it wasn’t for these Trump voters being so mean to people of color and gays”. The civnats have trouble wrapping their heads around the fact that the color invasion means America is f***ed. They can’t imagine that things could have gone so wrong so fast. They are living in a fantasy, wishful thinking, almost out of habit for having experienced so many years of prosperity without any real life or death conflict in this nation. They can’t grock that death is at the door. (Until the wise stop it.)

    September 21st, 2018 6:53 PM

—The International Criminal Court (ICC) is “already dead to us” National Security Adviser John Bolton told the Federalist Society recently. The U.S. will, he said, resist the court “by any means necessary.” Why would the Trump Administration take such a hard line against “the world’s court of last resort”? Founded in 2002, in the wake of the Rwandan and Yugoslavian genocides and mass rapes, the international body was supposed to try evildoers who would otherwise escape justice due to broken legal systems in failed states. Opposing the court is not a new position for the U.S. or Ambassador Bolton. The Bush Administration refused to sign the court’s implementing treaty in 2003, contending that it would lead to trials of U.S. soldiers and spies by a politically turbo-charged body located in Europe. At the time, many European leaders opposed President Bush’s war in Iraq and questioned its actions in the war on terror, including rendition and holding prisoners indefinitely at Guantanamo Bay. Ambassador Bolton was even more prescient. He warned, in 1998, when the formation of body was first being debated in Rome, that it would be ineffective, unaccountable and overly political.”—-

September 21st, 2018 10:38 AM GREAT QUESTION OF THE DAY

—“Which is more valuable credit or debt”— Justin Fortune

[T]his is an interesting question. The to the creditor it represents income in exchange for risk. To the debtor it represents consumption in exchange for risk. To the debtor and creditor both, it represents dependence upon a neutral enforcer (insurer). To the polity it represents economic velocity and the general increase in purchasing power. It is far harder to find opportunities to lend (to knowledge) than it is to find opportunities to borrow (to knowledge) and leverage. So for example it is very hard to find outsized opportunities for interest, but if you have credit available with which to seize and opportunity to capture a windfall discount due to timing, then credit is by far the most valuable. And the opportunity to seize outsized returns on production is far greater than on consumption (rents). Hence my advocacy of elimination of interest on consumption, retention of interest on production, and investment, such that we eliminate rents, and direct all credit to the seizure of opportunities for outsized returns.
