IT’S 3:00AM AND WE ARE WORKING.
So, I can’t tolerate the heat, so I can’t sleep, and I’m wrestling with a couple of interesting ideas, and I see a comment on one of my posts from the guys in Cyprus. So I ask them what they’re doing at 3:00AM.
They’re drinking beer and writing web socket code… Web sockets are very lightweight background connections that let your web page update to reflect changes in the data. So in Oversing if say you’re working on something and someone posts a comment like they do in FB, it will appear on your page.
So, last time they stayed up drinking beer and programming, they increased performance by about 10,000% (Oversing is now effectively instantaneous – above the threshold of user expectations.)
So now I have a new business rule. “Give Them Beer”.
They just sent me a low- light photo of themselves, shirtless, with beer, and laptops laughing like hell.
lol.
I know. You wish you had a job like this. Everyone does. π It’s like being part of a hunting party. Like being stone age mastodon hunters except we have flush toilets.

(worth repeating)
—“We have limited cognitive and perceptive abilities, and require this multitude of tools to testify that we in fact are conveying OBSERVATIONS rather than IMAGINATIONS. “—
The purpose of that method we call ‘the scientific method’ is ethical: to ensure that we are testifying to observation rather than imagination.

You know, it seems like if you make enough progress in philosophy, then you run out of people to talk to. π
It’s true in all fields, really. Philosophy isn’t special. But I don’t think I’d mind running out of people to discuss human-machine interfaces with. While I’d mind running out of people to discuss politics and philosophy with.

THE BEAUTY OF TRUTH: TRUST AND ALL THAT COMES FROM IT
Truth is such a beautiful thing. Not in the holier than thou, messianic, and judgemental sense. But in the wonder that results from our ability to rely upon it and trust our fellows. Only truth-tellers will invent science, medicine and freedom.

THREE OPTIONS FOR GOVERNMENT FREE OF CORRUPTION
The only way to avoid the principle-agent problem in politics is simply NOT to use agents. In order to avoid using agents, we have three choices:
1) Anarchic Contractual Government (no commons)
2) Direct Democracy (auctions to fund proposals for commons)
3) Demarchy / Lottocracy (randomly selected juries that judge policy proposals).
THe problem of politics is not the production of commons. It’s politicians, bureaucracy, and the inability to secede.

http://coinvox.org/the-future-of-governance/BTC DOEDNT MATTER AS MUCH AS THE BLOCKCHAIN.
Artificial intelligence, like human intelligence, requires the world divided into property such that actions are possible.
Words are not sufficient for man to think and plan or computer without property.
BTC may not revolutionize money. But it will revolutionize artificial intelligence.

Property rights defined by aggression are necessary and sufficient for limiting the state, sure. But they aren’t necessary and sufficient for limiting each other in a voluntary polity.
If you want a voluntary polity in the absence of a state then you must provide a means of resolving all conflicts with each other.
We don’t have the privilege of determining what causes conflict – evolution mandated it: we can cooperate if and only if we cannot parasite or prey on each other by doing so. Otherwise evolution will punish us for it.

The further takeaway is that electing a Republican President and Senate is the only thing that can create near term fiscal disaster. Health and the retirement of the boomers is still a concern β but both of those are, in my opinion, due to inadequate replacement levels β a birth dirth.
The debt percentage is going up, for now, but wonβt hit the record anytime soon. That is not a problem as long as Europe and China stay out of the business of selling their debt as a package or buying ours. The continued uncertainty is likely as much about policy. A strong bipartisan budget agreement will likely change that β but is unlikely to occur just yet. This also kills the prospect of long term reform being easy (but that is a fantasy anyway). The baseline itself is also fantasy β as always. Of course, the alternative scenario is just as unlikely. There may not even be a United States in 2039 β we may unite with Europe, and maybe Latin America and Africa by then (indeed, not uniting by then is probably a bad thing).”—-

Conservatives value norms, nuclear family, and liberty because they have a Durkheimian view of man: that our cultureβs economic advantage is the product of high trust created only under self sufficiency, and such self trust must be constructed normatively first and institutionally second, only as a consequence of those norms. And all evidence around the world un all cultures at all points in time confirms this belief. We cannot run private corporations or corporeal states independent of family structure and norms. This is the fendamental fallacy if universalism whether capitalist or socialist.
The conservatives speak in myth and allegory, but the empirical content if those myths is correct, while the empirical content of macro economic theory converted from Marx byKkeynes in economics and the universalism of the classicals in mathematics both fail correspondence with drminstrated human behavior. We are tribal beings and only pseudoscientific westerners divorce morality ; the necessary rules required of any cooperative species β from the science that purports to mrasure such things. American divisiveness and europesn divisiveness, and add the divisiveness in the world is caused first znd foremost by attempts of states to violate those necessary laws of cooperation: the prevention of free riding is the cause if moral intuitions.
