    I’ve set fb to tweet my posts. Some posts are just for the purpose of starting discussions (seeding debate). If I wrote everything as a structured proof in natural law it wouldn’t produce as much discussion.

    @curtdoolittle His stats would be more useful if he adjusted for differential wealth concentrations so that we are calculating (estimating) charity as a proportion of disposable income. But even then, there may be confounding variables unrelated to religion (e.g degree of outbreeding).

    Until we solve the missing fundamental forces of the universe we don’t know enough to speculate on other life forms.

    If the SOL is a limit for physical travel then it’s just irrational for a civilization to do other than grow by rate of colonization.

    If SOL is a limit to communication then communication has no value. If SOL is not a limit for communication, then we can’t likely see/hear anything.

    So age of the universe plus demands upon planetary stability over time, plus SOL open questions, means …. hard to know until we get there ourselves.

    Resources are not a reason to seek planets. Trade is very unlikely to be a reason to seek planets. Colonization is the only caloric reason that makes any sense.

    Hence mechanical probes are the only valuable contact other than conquest, extermination, and replacement.

    My intuition is that if life exists out there and can defeat the SOL or time problems, even if purely mechanical, then they’ve been here already.

And you know, while I understand, it’s a sort of temple or catacomb thing, ’cause it just seems …. a violation of the sacred to keep them around the house, and it doesn’t work with anything other than mid victorian ‘world-eccentricity’. I mean, if you’re into mid century modern, french provincial, or farmhouse, or shabby chic, it’s just really hard to work into the overall composition.

    But, that said, I suppose I have to amend “Noose, Pike, And Pyre”, with “Skull Pyramid” just for closure purposes.

    I mean, I don’t know were current mythology and propaganda developed, but Judaism is a counter-revolution against (a) hellenic reason because of the conquest of alexander (hellenic judaism), (b) roman law under the conquest of rome (rabbinical judaism), (c) and western science (socialism: boas, marx, freud, cantor, lenin/trotsky, mises, rand/rothbard)

    The entire history of judaism is merely inverting western truth, reason, law, and technology as a means of resistance, undermining, and insurrection.

    Whatever innovation in truth we bring the world, they have produced a counter-revolution by which to return people to ignorance.
