–“What is the compensation range and distribution of those ceo salaries, and why do they seem high – except say, for entertainment and sports figures?”–

Lesson for the average person: if you take a position as the CEO of a Fortune X company, it is similar to being elected as president, in that when you are done, your career is over. Though you might start another company, be re-hired, or asked to rescue a dying company. You can’t count on it.
So if you take the job, even if it only lasts for five to ten years, it means you must make enough money at the job to retire and devote your time to investing or other work. Because you’ll be all but unemployable.

This isn’t as true for small and midsized companies, where you can sell a company, or resign and shift to a larger company. But for large companies, the truth is, that you will accumulate criticism friends and enemies no matter what you do or how successful you are.

    Compensation Range
The compensation range and distribution for CEOs, particularly of large companies like those in the Fortune 1000, vary significantly based on various factors including company size, industry, and performance.

Here is a summary of the data collected:

    Average Compensation
The median total compensation for CEOs of top companies (Equilar 100) reached $22.3 million in 2022, an increase from the previous year.
For the average CEO, the tenure has been reported to be around 6.9 to 7.2 years.

    Top CEO Compensation
Some of the highest-paid CEOs receive significantly larger compensation, mostly through stock options and bonuses. For instance, Elon Musk’s average yearly bonus was reported at approximately $456.8 million, Sundar Pichai at around $98.9 million, and Andy Jassy at about $53.4 million.

    Salary Ranges
For CEOs in general, the average salary in the United States was reported to be around $830,600 as of December 2023, but this figure can vary widely based on several factors.
CEOs in different sectors can have varying average tenures, with those in financial services having the longest at about 8.4 years and those in energy and industrial sectors the shortest at around 6.5 years.

    Factors Affecting Compensation
CEO compensation is influenced by company performance, industry-specific trends, regional economic conditions, and individual negotiation skills.
Stock awards form a significant part of CEO compensation, often aligning their interests with company performance and long-term growth.

    Comparison with Other C-suite Roles
Compared to other C-suite roles, CEOs generally have longer tenures and higher compensation. For example, chief financial officers have an average tenure of 4.7 years with varying compensation based on the sector.

This data reflects the high level of responsibility and expectations placed on CEOs, as well as the current market dynamics influencing executive compensation.

DISAMBIGUATING THE SPECTRUM OF BELIEF: WE HAVE CONFIDENCE IN THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD -NOT FAITH. 😉
(or Faith != Belief != Confidence)
(The sufficiency of confidence in one’s mental predictions to warranty taking corresponding actions in the face of cost and risk. Or what in The Work (P-Law) we call the provision of decidability sufficient to satisfy demand for infallibility: Or what we define as the truth spectrum.

OR: “I love you Sabine Hossenfelder @skdh, but Faith != Belief != Confidence”, and Induction conveys no confidence but is necessary for ideation that may then lead to hypotheses. 😉 So we don’t have faith in the scientific method we have confidence in it. 😉
    RE: https://t.co/3khQyE44np

    Let’s explain:

    REGARDING HUME
In the sequence Deduction > Induction > Abduction > Guess > Idea via auto-association, each term merely provides us with fewer dimensions of consistency and correspondence for use by our minds (Hippocampal region CA1) to produce suggestions to investigate and determine if these ideas survive falsification.
In an era of cognitive science we know how the brain performs these functions. In his era, Hume was counseling against an over reliance on reason and especially justification, and in doing so he was demanding that empiricism (due diligence by demonstrated actions) was necessary, rather than induction providing any increase in the likelihood our imaginings are correct. This is effectively what Karl Popper was saying two centuries later, with even greater precision, and concordance with Darwin: Ideas survive they are not proved. Proof is a term from mathematics that refrs to demonstration of internal consistency of a sequence of deductive operations. It is an axiomatic (logical and declarative) not scientific (physical and descriptive) term. In science (the production of testimony) ideas survive or they do not.

In other words Hume wasn’t claiming that induction was an illusion – he was claiming that it didn’t contribute to predictive likelihood: truth. Yet it did contribute to the process of ideation that could later be subject to sufficient due diligence that it might survive the individual, the market for its application, and the market for competing theories.

    DEFINITION OF “BELIEF”

    1. Cognitive science. In cognitive science, a belief is understood as a mental representation of an attitude positively oriented towards the likelihood of something being true. (Prediction) Beliefs in this context are central to information processing and guide decision-making and problem-solving. They influence how we perceive and interact with the world and can be shaped by both internal cognition and external stimuli.

    2. Psychology views beliefs as mental constructs that represent an individual’s understanding and interpretation of the world. (Predictions) These constructs are not just passive information stores but active elements in shaping thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Beliefs in psychology are often linked with attitudes and values, influencing how individuals react emotionally and behaviorally to various situations.

    3. Behavioral economics defines beliefs as drivers of economic behavior, significantly influencing decision-making processes. Beliefs in this discipline often pertain to an individual’s expectations about outcomes and risks. They play a crucial role in understanding why people make seemingly irrational economic decisions, diverging from the traditional economic assumption of complete rationality.

BELIEF AS A STANDARD OF WEIGHT AND MEASURE
We will use the term Belief (Believe) as the general term for

THE SPECTRUM OF WILLINGNESS TO ACT GIVEN THE DEMAND FOR INFALLIBILITY

    CAUSALITY
Instinct refers to innate, biologically driven behaviors that are typically hardwired into an organism. In humans, these can be primal responses like fight-or-flight reactions. Cognitive science views instincts as foundational responses that precede conscious reasoning.

Intuition refers to the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. It’s a step beyond instinct, involving subconscious processing based on past experiences and learned patterns. Intuition acts as a rapid, often affect-laden, assessment of a situation or information.

AutoAssociation refers to the automatic linking of related concepts or experiences. It’s a subconscious process where exposure to one stimulus triggers the recall of an associated stimulus. This process is crucial in forming preliminary concepts and ideas.

    IDEA
Idea refers to the transition from subconscious processes to conscious thought. An idea is a cognitive construct that arises from the synthesis of various associations, intuitions, and information. It’s more structured and deliberate compared to instinct and intuition.

    HYPOTHESIS
*Belief (Self) Acceptance that something exists or is true, especially without necessary and sufficient evidence to claim it is true. Beliefs can be based on faith, cultural teachings, or personal reasoning, or personal convictions.

Faith (Intuition and others) in the Supernatural (Imaginable Justification). Involves a strong, unwavering conviction in something without requiring empirical evidence such as religious or spiritual beliefs.

Trust (others) in the Empirical (Observable Evidence). A reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something. Trust often develops from personal experience or credible information.

Assurance (market) – A sense of confidence or certainty in a belief or trust, typically based on experience, repeated evidence, or strong rational reasoning.

    THEORY
Confidence (adversarial market) in the Scientific (Testifiable Due Diligence). A firm belief in something with a strong basis in evidence or experience.

Conviction (Survival) – A more intense form of confidence, often accompanied by a personal commitment to the belief or idea.

Certainty (Exhaustion of the Market for Falsification) – A mental state where one has no doubt about the information or belief, often based on a combination of evidence, experience, and reasoning.

    LAW
Incontrovertibility – This refers to a state of mind where the belief or knowledge is considered undeniable, often due to overwhelming evidence or logical coherence.

    AXIOMATIC LAW
Axiomatic Certainty – A belief that is accepted as a fundamental truth, often considered self-evident and used as a foundational principle for further reasoning or belief systems.

COGNITIVE BIASES INFLUENCE THE TRANSITION FROM CONFIDENCE TO AXIOMATIC BELIEFS:
    Cognitive Biases
Cognitive biases are systematic patterns of deviation from norm or rationality in judgment. They influence how individuals process information and form beliefs, often leading to errors in reasoning.

    1. Confirmation Bias
Confirmation bias is the tendency to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that confirms one’s preexisting beliefs. It plays a crucial role in strengthening conviction as individuals tend to disregard information that contradicts their existing beliefs, leading to a solidification of those beliefs.

    2. Availability Heuristic
This heuristic involves overestimating the importance of information that is readily available. It can lead to a perception of incontrovertibility, as individuals might give undue weight to recent or memorable events when forming beliefs.

    3. Anchoring Bias
Anchoring occurs when individuals rely too heavily on an initial piece of information (the “anchor”) when making decisions. This bias can lead to the formation of axiomatic beliefs if the initial information is accepted without critical scrutiny and used as a basis for further reasoning.

    4. Dunning-Kruger Effect
This cognitive bias refers to a situation where individuals with limited knowledge or competence in a domain overestimate their own abilities. In the context of belief formation, this can lead to unwarranted confidence and a lack of recognition of one’s own limitations in understanding.

    5. Cognitive Dissonance
Cognitive dissonance is the mental discomfort experienced by a person who holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values. This discomfort often leads to an alteration in one of the beliefs or attitudes to reduce the discomfort and restore balance.

Understanding cognitive biases is essential in comprehending how choice evolves and solidifies. Recognizing these biases can help in critically evaluating one’s own intuitions, thoughts, ideas and in making more informed decisions.

    CONCLUSION
I could, and probably should combine my work on decidability, with my work on the spectrum of truth, with this work on the spectrum of beliefs (hypotheses) in a quaint little table which I assume would be a public service but I have to finish re-reading a hundred page paper in the two hours, compiling notes and feedback so it will have to wait for another day. 😉

NO, THE IDENTITY CATHOLIC WAS USED FROM THE BEGINNING.
“Catholic” comes from the Greek “katholikos,” meaning “universal” or “according to the whole.”

The term emerged in a period when the Christian Church was defining its beliefs and practices. The earliest known use of the term in a Christian context is found in the letters of Ignatius of Antioch, around 110 AD. He used it to describe the universal church. It implied a church that was universal and inclusive, encompassing all believers.

Over time, “Catholic” evolved from describing the universal character of the Church to denoting a particular tradition within Christianity. Early Church Fathers like Augustine contributed to its evolving meaning.

By the 4th century, with the legalization of Christianity under Emperor Constantine and subsequent councils like Nicaea (325 AD), the term began to take on a more formalized meaning. It was used in official documents to describe the orthodox Christian Church.

Distinction from Other Groups”Catholic” became a term of differentiation, especially as theological disputes led to the distinction between orthodox and heretical groups.

The Great Schism of 1054 and then the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century further defined “Catholic” in contrast to the Eastern Orthodox and Protestant churches.

FEMININE ORIGINS AND CAUSE OF LEFTIST REPRESSIVE TOLERANCE
    (*Marcuse)
Why isn’t ‘repressive tolerance’ just a form of deception by false framing, to claim it’s democracy they are advocating for rather than the suppression of meritocracy in order to create forced equality through seizure of power to impose authoritarian government?

    It is.

(Now, compare these with female (feminine) intuition whether in a male or female body:)

    1. Labeling certain speech or ideologies as ‘repressive’ under the banner of tolerance could be a form of intellectual deception. This approach could falsely frame political agendas as democratic efforts while they may have underlying authoritarian intentions.

    2. ‘Repressive tolerance’ might be used to undermine meritocratic systems. By labeling certain merit-based outcomes as products of oppressive structures, it could lead to the devaluation of merit in favor of ideological conformity.

    3. ‘Repressive tolerance’ is as a step towards enforced equality, where diversity of thought is sacrificed for uniformity. This uniformity, enforced through supposedly tolerant policies, could pave the way for authoritarian governance structures.

    4. Leftist ideologies often view all forms of authority and influence as inherently unearned, negating the possibility of legitimate authority derived from merit and competence.

    5. The importance of recognizing merit and competency in establishing authority challenges the notion that existing power structures are solely the result of privilege or oppression, presenting evidence of meritocratic processes at work.

    6. The claim that advocacy for traditionally marginalized groups often overlooks the need for demonstrated competency. It would also explore the tension between ensuring equal opportunities and the pursuit of equal outcomes.

In effect the Female > Feminine > Left Behavior consists of nothing more than using deception, false victimhood, false accusation, in order to bypass earning and exchange to obtain what they desire. The female > feminine > leftist nature like the left nature is purely criminal. (Which is… odd. Though the ancient world would have considered it obvious.)

WHY: THEY CANNOT COMPETE BY MERIT.

I agree that barret followed teh letter of the constitution. But she is not as willing to demand clarification or narrow the ruling as are the others who are more concerned about both reversing the expansion of federal discretionary power decreasing the responsibility of the legislature, and forcing return of decisions to the people and the legislatures.
So she made the correct SIMPLE call, but did not fulfill the court’s mission via Scalia to prevent evasion of legislative responsibilty, legislation from the bench, or by executive command, or executive failure to execute.
I will read position if she posted one, her but I assume that I’m correct in my understanding of her decision. THe court is adamant that given the decline in the trust in our institutions to the degree where we are close to civil war.
Given that every illegal is an theft of capital from existing populations and that the purpose of that tolerance of illegal immigration is to capture votes to undermine the constitution it isn’t difficult to make the case which is why it was a close vote. Unfortunately Barrett’s position is demanding the congress make the decision (correct) without using the court to actively force the congress to make the decision. So I expect we will see escalation to the point of civil war continue.

CONSERVATIVE VS PROGRESSIVE FIRST PRINCIPLES 😉
Of course progressives are unhappy. Progressivism (American ‘liberalism’, Leftism, socialism, communism) is a feminine intuition, in search of irresponsibilty for self and commons. As such just as women are never happy, progressives are never happy for the same reason.

The only way to make them comfortable in their continuous unhappiness is to create boundaries that contain them so that they’re in the same boat as everyone else – which is their concept of equality.

Conservatives express power as prevention of control to demand responsibility – and progressives express power as pursuit of control to evade responsibility.

    THE DIVINE SCIENCE
I work with defining and explaining the first principles – meaning the hierarchy of the laws of the universe. If the laws of the universe are testifiable, then they are true. If the laws of the universe and the laws of god are the same then the truth and the faith are in agreement. If the laws of god and the universe differ, then faith is false, and god is not god, but a fiction of man. As such I see my work as divine just as much as it is scientific.

  • THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANCIENT ARISTOCRATIC AND MEDIEVAL CHRISTIAN RESPONSIBILIT

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANCIENT ARISTOCRATIC AND MEDIEVAL CHRISTIAN RESPONSIBILITY (IMPORTANT)

(FWIW: In a previous post, I stated the abrahamic sequence in both supernatural and pseudoscientific frauds and sophistries. I was not trying to attack christianity per se.)

    RESPONSIBILITIES
TLDR; “Persists Today: Masculine National Political vs Feminine Global Social”

    1) Greco-Roman Era Responsibility (Nationalism)

Civic Engagement, Military Service, and Public VirtueCivic Engagement: In the Greco-Roman world, active participation in public life was considered essential for the well-being of the state. This included involvement in political discourse, governance, and public decision-making. The idea of ‘civic virtue’ was crucial, where citizens were expected to contribute to the common good and engage in matters of state.
Military Service: Military prowess and service were highly esteemed. Being a soldier or a military leader was not only a duty but a significant source of honor and prestige. This emphasis on military capability was rooted in the frequent wars and conflicts of the period, where strength in arms was essential for survival and expansion.
Public Virtue: Public virtue in this context meant living in a way that benefitted the polis or the republic. It included qualities like courage, discipline, and loyalty to the state. The ideal citizen was one who placed the interests of the community above personal desires.

Roles and Responsibilities of Various Social Groups

Free Male Population: The privileges and responsibilities of civic engagement and military service were largely reserved for free males. This group was considered the backbone of society, actively participating in governance, public debate, and defense.
Women: In general, women in the Greco-Roman world were excluded from public life and political activities. Their roles were primarily domestic, focusing on managing the household and raising children. While women of higher social standing could wield influence indirectly, direct participation in civic affairs was limited.
Children: The role of children was to be educated and prepared for their future roles as citizens (for boys) or as keepers of the household (for girls). The focus was on inculcating virtues that would make them effective members of society once they reached adulthood.
Slaves and Lower Classes: Slaves had no political rights or social standing and were considered property. The lower classes, although free, often lacked the means or the social status to participate fully in public life. Their contributions were more economic (through labor) than political or military.

    Measurement of Individual Worth
In this societal structure, a person’s worth was significantly measured by their ability to contribute to the state’s military and civic life. Honor and social standing were closely tied to public service and martial achievements. This value system reinforced a societal hierarchy where the upper classes, especially those capable of military leadership or political influence, were highly esteemed.

    2) Christian Era Shift in Responsibility (Globalism)

    The good:
    – Role of Free Will: While a european disposition proior t christianity, but upon introduction of the abrahamir religion it survived, so contrary to Islam, the concept of free will in Christianity underlines the importance of individual choice and moral responsibility, countering the notion of evasion of responsibility.

    The Bad:
    – Personal: Emphasis on spiritual equality and salvation for all
    – Anti-Political, Universal: Universal moral responsibility irrespective of class or status
    – Emphasis on Faith over Works: In some Christian teachings, salvation is said to be attained through faith rather than deeds. Leads to a belief that actions are less important than faith, potentially diminishing the sense of personal responsibility for one’s actions.
    – Charity and Assistance vs. Systemic Change: While Christianity strongly advocates for charity, the focus overshadows the importance of addressing systemic issues, leading to a limited engagement with broader social responsibilities.
    – Divine Forgiveness and Absolution: The concept that sins can be forgiven through confession and penance might lead some to believe that they can evade responsibility for their actions, as long as they seek forgiveness.
    – Doctrine of Original Sin: Implies that individuals are powerless to overcome their sinful nature without divine intervention, reducing the sense of personal moral agency.
    – Eschatological Beliefs: Belief in an imminent end of the world (eschatology) leads to a lack of concern for long-term solutions, under the assumption that worldly conditions are temporary and of lesser importance.
    – Delegation of Responsibility: The delegation of moral authority to church leaders leads to a dependency on clergy for moral guidance, diminishing individual responsibility in moral decision-making.
    – Undermining Political Virtues: Marginalization of traditional civic virtues in favor of spiritual virtues
    – Anti-political, Social, Feminine: Responsibility in a religious context implies adhering to divine commandments and moral teachings. In Christianity, this includes both personal conduct and responsibilities towards others and the world.

Individual Responsibility in Greco-Roman vs. Christian Contexts
    – Responsibility in the Greco-Roman world: Public life, civic duty, military valor: Masculine Eugenic. Evolutionary.
    – Christian redefinition of responsibility: Spiritual well-being, charity, humility: Feminine Dysgenic. Stasis to Devolutionary.

So, masculine national political social economic familial responsibility vs Feminine Globalist interpersonal self focus.

Had christianity not been monopolistic and not had poltical amibitions it could have integrated into the traditional civilization without creating a dark age of ignorance supersition and destroying the political and economic and aesthetic virtues of the ancient world.

    Cheers.

    IN REPLY TO:

    Unknown author

HAYEK VS MARX IN JUST ONE BOOK
–‘Fascism is the stage reached after communism has proved an illusion’– FA Hayek. “I just came across this quote from Hayek. I think I sort of know what he’s trying to say. I was hoping someone here was more familiar with the guy and could elaborate.–(Anon From Reddit)

Old post, but came up in search, so I’d offer an answer.

Hayek started with epistemology in the sense of the state of neuroscience of his age. He then understood the problem of economics as a constraint on the misbehavior of man. And then he understood and moved on to law as a constraint on the misbehavior of man. And the insight was really quite early in a simple pamphlet he wrote that would become very popular.

    Hayek’s innovation in his pamphlet “A Road To Serfdom” was accounting for informal capital and especially informal capital in the commons that is the West’s competitive advantage, that of course Marx didn’t account for, and if he did it would falsify his entire framework even more so than the falsehood of the labor theory of value;

    Or the pretense that a ‘society’ is a involuntary organization such as a family rather than superpredators who find convenience in peaceful cooperation until they don’t;

    Or the false possibility of the failure of rule of law leading to market economies and the extraordinary wealth produced indirectly that is the opposite of what rule-by-man’s communism and socialism produce directly;

Or the even more absurd pretension that competence is distributed other than in by painful empiricism of demonstrated competency by survival in adversarial markets.

Or worse, that classes are not a reflection of genetic load and therefore ability.

Or worse, that credentialist intellectuals are capable of defeating the efforts of the pricing system, the credit system, the rule of law, and the decisions of those who, because of demonstrated competency in such a system defend that system and it’s continuous massive parallel computation of the optimum allocation of everything in everyone’s service of one another by selfish incentives.

It’s somewhat difficult to imagine why any interest in Marx as other than an attempt a pseudoscientific reformation of the abrahamic religion survives despite the evolutionary failure of class marxism, cultural marxism, sex marxism, truth marxism (postmodernism), Libertarianism (middle class marxism), Neoconservatism (upper class marxism), and the present resulting race marxism.

The marxist sequence is, as was the abrahamic sequence before it, feminine magical thinking in a desperate attempt to avoid individual responsibility for self, private and common, and the feminine and beta war against european civilization’s aristocratic, heroic, militaristic, expansionist, hierarchical, paternal, technological, sky worshipping, meritocratic foundations that demand individual responsibility of all in exchange for individual sovereignty and self determination – the most correspondent with the laws of nature man has developed, and the reason for the evolutionary velocity of the west in the bronze, iron, an steel ages, despite the abrahamic occult dark ages and this second attempt at the second abrahamic pseudoscientific dark ages.

The middle east is feminine in its foundations and it has been rebelling against the indo europeans since the beginnings of the recovery from the bronze age collapse. Marx’s feminism in cognition is simply a continuation of the feminine abrahamic means of baiting into hazard – the art of seduction applied to deception and submission in a war against the laws of nature – especially darwin.

    Cheers.

I’m not anti crypto. I’m anti false claims about crypto. In fact I advocate crypto even if all it did was solve the ‘unbanked’ and check-cashing problem at the bottom, end fees for transfers, and end fees for escrow. In effect I would like to cut out the middleman and his unnecessary transaction costs. And that’s just the beginning of the virtues of digital. A digital standard can be circumvented by credit expansion using a secondary vehicle – which is precisely what would happen – just as gold was circumvented with commodity money substitutes.

Any economy limited to hard money would be incapable of not only competition but survival in a world of markets consisting of those who didn’t use hard money.

It is also no clear that holders of a money or money subsiute have any right to either purchasing power gained via appreciation of the it or claims of loss claimed by depreciation of it. In fact I’m fairly certain both are unearned – when thy should or could have put thir savings in another vehicle.
