  • The Origins of Numbers

(And the two part key) To create a record that represented “two sheep”, they selected two round clay tokens each having a + sign baked into it. Each token represented one sheep. Representing a hundred sheep with a hundred tokens would be impractical, so they invented different clay tokens to represent different numbers of each specific commodity, and by 4000 BC strung the tokens like beads on a string.[7] There was a token for one sheep, a different token for ten sheep, a different token for ten goats, etc. Thirty-two sheep would be represented by three ten-sheep tokens followed on the string by two one-sheep tokens. To ensure that nobody could alter the number and type of tokens, they invented a clay envelope shaped like a hollow ball into which the tokens on a string were placed, sealed, and baked. If anybody disputed the number, they could break open the clay envelope and do a recount. To avoid unnecessary damage to the record, they pressed archaic number signs and witness seals on the outside of the envelope before it was baked, each sign similar in shape to the tokens they represented. Since there was seldom any need to break open the envelope, the signs on the outside became the first written language for writing numbers in clay. An alternative method was to seal the knot in each string of tokens with a solid oblong bulla of clay having impressed symbols, while the string of tokens dangled outside of the bulla.[8] Beginning about 3500 BC the tokens and envelopes were replaced by numerals impressed with a round stylus at different angles in flat clay tablets which were then baked.[9] A sharp stylus was used to carve pictographs representing various tokens. Each sign represented both the commodity being counted and the quantity or volume of that commodity.

  • The Answer to Christianity: Choosing Godhood as Our Own

. There is good Christianity and bad. There are good christians and bad. This [set of statements] is very good christianity, and I’m not going to criticize good Christians – at least unless good Christians (a) violate natural law (unlikely), or (b) seek to use faith in argument rather than faith in self confirmation (too commonly). Faith is for the faithful, literature for those without faith. Aristotle for those who have no need for, and science and law for those of us who rule and cannot afford it. Render under each, that which is needed by each, and natural law of men, and physical law of science to decide the conflicts between them. My objective is to institutionalize the insights (habits) of christianity in scientific prose, and provide means of ritual mindfulness for those that cannot or will not tolerate ‘magic’. And a set of festivals that all of us chan participate in. Those insights are (a) the daily discipline of personal humility, (b) the elimination of hatred from the human heart, (c) the extension of kinship love to non kin, (d) the exhaustion of personal forgiveness as a means of training the most misguided, and (e) the empiricism of direct, personal charity as a means of achieving, and testing both, and (f) the political intolerance of those who do otherwise, (g) the limiting of government to the natural law of reciprocity leaving only market harmony and charity for the achievement of goods, and (h) surrender of defense and rule to the aristocracy who master in violence what we master in love and charity. And I know that this is the ultimate strategy for optimum human cooperation because science and logic tell me so. There is an ever declining percentage of educated people that find value in the parables of underclass semitic pastoralists, depending on magic and an after life to escape lack of agency in this one, and an ever increasing percentage of people that find value in scientific exposition of the same virtues, and historical and mythical ideas of OUR PEOPLE, for whom their ‘book’ was that of homer (the trials of achilles), the great greek and roman heroes, the carolingian, germanic, arthurian, scandinavian pagan myths, and the REAL accomplishments of OUR people, which begins with the cult of non-submission of those with agency. Just as the cult of submission is the retreat of those lacking it in islam and christianity. There is nothing in the world of faith that is not available to those who practice natural science, natural law, the histories, rituals of self authoring, and the festivals of the heroes and seasons – except a greater need to negotiate between different wants, and greater demand for mindfulness against the saddening, and a greater demand for agency and reason in taking actions in the world. Among the poor, feeble, and lacking agency in the world, christianity is the compromise position between barbarism and science that Augustine intended to make it. And among those who are increasingly joining the prosperous, the able, and those with agency, it is increasingly unnecessary. Among the prosperous, the able, and those with agency, that compromise is harmful. And this is what we have seen. Morality is fully contained in individual sovereignty, physical and law natural law and the markets for cooperation, and exhaustive forgiveness in bringing the immoral into both. The only people that need comforting lies are those that cannot look the only ultimate truth in the face without fear: the universe is a hostile place, we are an nothing but a deterministic accident, and it is we who shall be the gods who transform it into the edent we desire. We must only choose godhood as our own.

The empirical revolution, and its counter-revolution “the enlightenment”: the international attempt to restate local custom in local categories, relations, operations and values, other than deflationary empirical prose – because otherwise the extant order would not withstand such scrutiny.

But that counter-revolution came from the most backwardly governed country in europe by a man of profoundly low (libertine) character who presumed an idyllic fictional (feminine actually) nature of mankind. A wish not a truth.

Man is neither moral nor immoral, but amoral. It is just nearly always more rewarding to act morally – at least over any period of time.

One cannot be philosophically literate without knowledge of economics (incentives) precisely for this reason: man’s amoralism.

—“Basic combat load is 7, 30 round magazines. It has been for a very long time. “— But when you state it as “200 rounds” people get a better idea of how few rounds that is. And Americans still too frequently run down on ammunition in a defensive firefight. —“Ignoring the basic correct answer is 210 rounds for the M4, here is a real combat load after 18 months before, during and after the surge in Iraq. I was a combat medic in an infantry unit deployed to a high tempo battlezone. We rolled outside the wire at least 5 days a week and often multiple times a day. About 1/4 of those would see some degree of combat. I carried a 30lb lite aid bag in addition to 10 magazines on my rack and drop pouches. Additionally my hot mag was a double and my main aid bag stayed on our vehicle with another 4 mags along with 65 lbs of medical gear. Long range patrols and extended ops were a bitch for me but after running out of ammo in one fight everything changed. I started dropping other gear from my load and replacing everything I could with composite material. I carried more than anyone but the squad gunner but it came in handy for others as well.I can function for 2 days without water. I can survive almost a week without food. My life expectancy in a firefight while out of ammo isn’t shit. In combat every bullet is a chance to save a life.”— Anon. In other words, he carried, 60 round hot mag, 10 30 round mags and 4 spare 30 round mags. 60 + 300 + 120 = 480. (My estimate of defensive ammo reserve from everything I’ve read is 600 rounds per man), and also from what I’ve read, no less than double that for a light machine gunner. Patrol is very dangerous. It’s searching for the enemy by presenting yourself as a target (bullet magnet). I prefer the Russian method: saturate the ground with artillery, roll in with equipment, destroy anything standing, kill everything that moves, and mop up the remainder on foot. The best way to hold territory is when everything other than you is pebbles, soot, splinters, or dead. –“Seven (7) mags was your “naked walking around load” and at no time was I more than a short distance away from an additional 10 mags. Point being, historically, I’m sure there was a prescribed basic load for the Italian military of the time but nobody ever says they had too much ammo in a firefight.”– Will Harm

    THE COMING “UNPLEASANTNESS” (REVOLTS)

—“Given the current accelerating rate of ideological and racial polarization, how likely is it in America that the country will enter an era of large-scale sectarian violence at some point in this century?”— A Friend

by Curt Doolittle, The Propertarian Institute, Kiev, Ukraine

I’ve stated since 2006 that we would have a violent revolution between 2020 and 2025. I stated that the economy would fail by 2008 (it did) would not recover until at least ‘14 (I was right), that would peak its recovery in ‘17/18 (I was right) and that the next correction would coincide with demographic, political, and economic collapse, at the very same moment that american military and political power would be impossible to sustain the remains of the british empire we inherited at the war’s end. (I will be correct.) I know this because of economics, demographics, the conflict of civilizations, and the great power struggles that result.

The entire suite of socialist experiments worldwide across the 20th century have failed, and so the right (classical liberal rule of law) would have won if not for immigration overwhelming the country via the six massive-immigration-cities. However, since the left was successful in achieving through third world immigration and the destruction of the nuclear family what they could not achieve through their ideas, the only solution to intolerable conflict is separation.

Both Communist-Antifa/BLM/Soros and the Nationalist-Right Coalitions were very close to starting a war after the Trump victory overturned the left’s belief in victory, and had Charlottesville been slightly more violent such that the Right wingers defended themselves with the rather vast arsenal they had with them, it would have started there. But all that occurred in the aftermath has been the elimination of the nazi symbolism from the hard right, and the down-funding of BLM/Antifa by Soros, who has instead switched to funding the anti-gun movement to achieve the same ends.

What’s occurring right now is that the Trump administration is serving as a sufficient proxy for violence. The right’s current plan is to wait until the left attempts to prosecute Trump for (correctly) attempting to shut down. The left is waiting for their long awaited win.

Meanwhile the very few adults left in positions of power understand that any misstep by either side will result in the bloodiest civil war in human history. And I say that having a very clear understanding of how fragile our prosperity is, and how easy it is to fall into all against all fighting for food and water.

We are going to have some sort of civil war, the outcome of which I suspect will be devolution of central powers to the states or regions, since this is the only means of preserving the military, retirement, and medical services, while cities, states, and regions determine their cultures, norms, and values. The principle change is that laws on permissible behavior and therefore citizenship will fragment into the old european model. After which the european experiment will follow suit.

I know, this ‘reformation’ will occur, because I’m going to make certain of it. And I’m going to make certain of it for the simple reason that the civil war will happen and a random outcome after millions are dead and the world descends into war, is far worse than an agreeable settlement.

HOW RUSSIANS GOT YANUKOVYCH OUT OF UKRAINE

(I thought he was on the presidential plane I was tracking to Dubai. But apparently the plane was loaded with money, gold, and valuables – as a distraction. He had a private helicopter pad in the city center. )

“Yanukovych used Russia’s aircraft to flee from Ukraine”

    (today)

The man tells court Yanukovych and his guards landed at a military airfield in Crimea on the morning of February 23.

Ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, who is being accused of committing treason, used Russian aircraft to move across Ukraine and then flee from country.

The judicial panel of Kyiv’s Obolon district court, which is considering the Yanukovych case, has completed the interrogation of Dmytro Ivantsov, a witness of defense, who is a former guard of the former president and who accompanied Yanukovych and fled with the latter to Russia, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

It should be noted that the testimony of the witness generally coincided with that given by his colleagues who had already testified in the Yanukovych case.

In particular, Ivantsov said that late on February 22, 2014, when Yanukovych and his guards were riding from Donetsk to Melitopol, they transferred to three military helicopters in the vicinity of Melitopol. After flying about 20 minutes, they landed at a military airfield, where they got aboard an AN-26 plane and flew to Crimea. Presiding judge Vladyslav Devyatko asked Ivantsov to specify the helicopters and the airfield. The latter confirmed that the helicopters were Russian. However, he did not specify the airfield.

In addition, Ivantsov said that on the morning of February 23, Yanukovych and his guards landed at a military airfield in Crimea and went to a resort facility near Yalta.

According to the witness, when they found out that Valentyn Nalyvaichenko (Chief of the SBU Security Service of Ukraine from February 24, 2014 to June 18, 2015), Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, and, allegedly, some armed men were looking for Yanukovych in Crimea, they moved to another facility under the guard of the Marine Corps of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.

The witness also said that after the ex-president along with his guards had moved to the Kosacha (Cossack) bay in Sevastopol, Yanukovych proposed to the Department officers that they continue guarding him. Some of them agreed and fled to Russia with Yanukovych.

    ——TIMELINE—-

On 21 February, President Yanukovych signed a compromise deal with opposition leaders. It promised constitutional changes to restore certain powers to Parliament and called for early elections to be held by December.

Despite the agreement, thousands continued to protest in central Kiev, and the demonstrators took full control of the city’s government district: the parliament building, the president’s administration quarters, the cabinet, and the Interior Ministry. On 21 February, an impeachment bill was introduced in Parliament. On the same day, Yanukovych left for Kharkiv to attend a summit of southeastern regions, according to media reports.

On 22 February, the protesters were reported to be in control of Kiev, and Yanukovych was said to have fled the capital for eastern Ukraine. The parliament, or Verkhovna Rada, voted 328–0 in favour of impeaching Yanukovych and scheduled new presidential elections for 25 May.

Parliament named its speaker, Oleksandr Turchynov, as interim president on 23 February. A warrant for the arrest of Yanukovych was issued by the new government on 24 February. Over the next few days, Russian nationalist politicians and activists organised rallies in Crimea and urged Russia to help defend the region from advancing “fascists” from the rest of Ukraine.

On 28 February, Yanukovych attended a press conference in southern Russia and answered questions from mostly Russian reporters. He said that the early presidential elections scheduled for late May were illegal and that he “would not be participating in them”. He also said that while the 21 February agreement could have calmed the situation, the opposition had not agreed to it.

On 1 March, Russia’s parliament approved a request from President Vladimir Putin to deploy Russian troops to Ukraine.

IT IS VERY HARD NOT TO SPECIALIZE – FOR NOW

At our stage of development when we are at an in-between stage, and very nearly at the limit of our ability to construct tools (experiments) by which to conduct observations (measurements), yet unable to discover the pattern of relations that describe the next levels of complexity (the structure of the universe on one end and sentience on the other, and where we have all but exhausted research into subjects at human scale, we have passed the point at which one can spend enough time on enough subjects to master their application. It is however possible to master the fundamental patterns that cross all disciplines. The reason being that there are a very small number of fundamental laws. And to some degree the grammar and semantics we are searching for, consists of that set of categories, relations, values and operations (transforms).
