  • Language Causes Overestimation of Similarities

    We all have a will to power, but we also have physical, mental, and emotional resources to obtain it with; and that will is countered by fear and insecurity. Language is as natural as walking. But it causes us to overestimate our similarities. Empathy causes us to overestimate our similarities. Submission causes us to overestimate our similarities. Need causes us to overestimate our similarities. And a host of our cognitive biases evolved to convince us we are normal, or average, or like everyone else. But despite all those cognitive biases, we are demonstrably not all that similar in MARGINAL difference in the performance of emotional, cognitive, and physical tasks. We can often judge someone’s ability by their vocabulary and their reasoning – language is how we measure (diagnose) the mind. But the fact that we can speak to people across the human spectrum tells us nothing about our marginal (effective) differences. In fact, those cognitive biases for similarity(indifference) may be nothing other than an adaptation to the use of language, by providing us with greater imitation(of actions), sympathy(for wants), and empathy(for feelings), so that we more readily comprehend one another’s use of language so that in turn we may more readily reap the rewards of opportunities for the high returns on cooperation. The more Empathic, Sympathetic, Needful, and Vulnerable we are, the more incentive we have to find similarities (female) and the Dispassionate, Analytic, Independent, and Dominant we are the more incentive we have to identify and preserve our dissimilarities. Now think about that a little bit.

  • Fulfilling Your Needs

    The reason you want a narrative and an ideology is so that you can feel in a group and in control in a world where you have none. But the only control you have is over your understanding of that world and your interpretation of that world. So narratives are inhibitors not enablers. Propertarianism (Natural Law) will absolutely positively provide you with a consistent, correspondent, and coherent science, grammar, and logic with which to understand describe and interact with the world. Stoicism (Self authoring in goals and virtues) will absolutely positively provide you with the mindfulness to control your interpretation of that world. Restoration of our historical civilization to sovereignty, reciprocity, duty, truth, and markets in all aspects of life will allow us to achieve our individual interests within the limits of available knowledge and resources, as well as defend ourselves from primitive competitors, and if necessary conquer and govern them, and if left no other choice, to eliminate them.

If you can manage emotional and intellectual honesty with any god (collectively shared pattern of values), then you can obtain the benefit of the character’s frame of reference. The reason being that it is extremely hard for us to be intellectually honest with ourselves, and the act of speaking whether external or internal, forces continuous recursive disambiguation, which forces our brains to test our thoughts, just as we test our thoughts while we are speaking to others and anticipating their responses. By and large this system works extraordinarily well. If you combine that with self authoring and the virtues and select characters from history to represent those virtues and goals, and if you read enough about those people, you will in fact, obtain their wisdom through role playing discourse (prayer) – assuming you can practice intellectual honesty. Now, some of us lack the agency for this and this is why we have doctrine. But admission that you require doctrine is admission that you lack the agency to call yourself fully human. This is acceptable as long as you do not claim to possess the agency necessary to influence the decisions of others. And as such those of us who have agency must police those that do not, such that those who do not possess agency do not attempt to spread their lack of it.

God is a fictional (mythical) character (archetype) within a group’s mythology, that in turn expresses the group’s evolutionary strategy (geographic, demographic, economic, political norm, tradition, and religion), that when used through imaginary role play, functions as a an instrument of measurement (decidability), for those (many) circumstances, and for those (many uneducated) people, who must decide in the face of complexity, undecidability, or uncertainty, when the consequences of our actions (externalities, particularly intertemporal and long term externalities) are beyond our ability to judge. Sympathy with an authority figure is the simplest form of measurement available to man other than his own physical abilities to act. Sympathy, particularly with a paternal or maternal figure, is the first cooperative form of measurement man evolved, and the one that requires no specific education other than ordinary social participation, in order to function.

    THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF NATURAL LAW THOUGHT

    1. Natural law is an eternal moral law revealed to all people through human nature.

    Correction:
    The Natural Law of reciprocity is necessary for the preservation of cooperation, for any cooperative species – particularly a sentient one. Without the natural law of reciprocity, and the moral intuitions that accompany it, including altruistic punishment, then cooperation would not survive, and the population would not survive. Conversely, the more cooperation, the more contract, the more truth, the more trust, the lower the cost and the greater velocity of that cooperation. And as such, the greater prosperity.

    2. Natural law influences (but cannot save) even fallen and sinful humanity.

    Correction:
    Man evolved as a rational actor, and must have evolved as a rational actor, in order to survive. Man acts rationally at all times given his incentives. He developed defense of his investments (possessions, and opportunities) before he developed cooperation. He developed moral instinct in parallel with his ability to cooperate, and language to improve his ability to cooperate. But while predation, parasitism, theft, fraud, and free riding and conspiracy are all natural to man – and universally demonstrated, it is simply almost always more advantageous to cooperate than not, or to engage in parasitism, or predation. And even so, we have developed systems of providing incentives against man’s rational choice of non-cooperation, parasitism, and predation, both informal (manners, ethics, morals, traditions) and formal (laws, enforcers, and governments). Man is not fallen angel but risen beast. That is simply the fact of it. He is rational – not good or bad, that is simply the fact of it. We all simply work to keep one another ethical, moral, and powerless so that it is always more rational to cooperate.

    3. Natural law is the proper basis of political authority.

    Correction:
    The Natural Law of Reciprocity provides perfect decidability in matters of conflict. Reciprocity provides perfect decidability in matters of cooperation and exchange. Reciprocity provides perfect decidability in matters of the production of commons. Reciprocity provides perfect decidability in international agreement and conflict. Ergo, the Natural Law of Reciprocity provides the ONLY perfectly decidable means of dispute resolution, cooperation and exchange, production of commons, and international agreement and conflict.

    4. Natural law authorizes society to establish a government.

    Correction:
    Natural Law of Reciprocity informs us that we require a judiciary to adjudicate differences, and markets to cooperate. Forming a political order (government) to do so on behalf of the population is a choice. But since all governments have been corrupt (especially the church), the price of government (management team for the commons), must be weighed against the benefit of one.

    5. Governments are themselves subject to the natural law.

    Governments do not exist any more than god exists. Only people exist. A government consists only of people. And all people either observe the Natural Law of Reciprocity, and are held accountable by the rest of the population, for adhering to the Natural Law of Reciprocity, or they don’t. If they don’t, then they should expect retaliation for their crimes against the natural law of reciprocity, and therefore the polity.

    6. Each society’s laws should apply the natural law to that society’s particular circumstances.

    If you took all the falsehood out of christianity then what would remain?

    – The mass (A lesson, an oath, a feast), festivals.
    – The extirpation of hatred from the human heart.
    – The exhaustion of interpersonal forgiveness as the optimum group cooperative strategy.
    – The demand for personal acts of charity.

    If you replace life after death with living a good life, persistence through actions, genetic persistence, and human transcendence of our descendents into the gods we imagine.

    If you replace lessons against the aristocracy in favor of diasporic pastoralists, and instead restored our original mythology os the trials of homer.

    If you restored the festivals with those of heroes, ancestors and the seasons (nature).

    If you add ethnocentrism (the optimum group strategy), government by rule of law and markets in everything (the optimum competitive strategy), and stoicism (the optimum mindfulness strategy).

    Then you have a religion free of lies.

    Church is a good thing.
    What one does there produces mindfulness.
    What one learns there can be truth or lie.
