It’s hysterical that Boeing just uses trucks to haul these giant sections of aircraft up I5 through Seattle traffic like its today’s produce headed to market. Incongruous.

WHACKY FACTOR BY DISCIPLINE
My social universe consists of engineers, scientists, economists, philosophers, artists, marketers and lawyers. But I have to say that the ‘Crazy Factor’ is almost absent from engineers and negligible among economists, increases rapidly with lawyers, becomes commonplace among marketers, endemic among artists, and nearly universal among philosophers.
I mean. That’s a completely unscientific observation. But it’s still an observation.

HOW TO ADD 20% MORE HORSEPOWER TO YOUR SPORTS CAR?
(Make sure the tires are at the right pressure)
I noticed that the driver’s side front tire was low. Went to the station to add air. And then read the fine print on the fancy tires. And found out that they were 20 pounds under pressure. I didn’t notice. Dealer didn’t notice. But I sure noticed the difference driving.
(Sigh. Just sometimes…things like this make me feel like an idiot.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fbahS7VSFsHUMOR: PARENTS TORTURE LIONESS BY DRESSING CHILD AS ZEBRA
Saw this on the news this morning Proof that a kid in a striped shirt is catnip for lions. Now. what’s interesting is that this isn’t the only video on Youtube where a kid in a striped shirt attracts the passionate interest of a lioness.
“Hey. Lion. Hey. Not only do we have opposable thumbs. But we can make stuff like glass, and dress our kids in costumes that put you in a feeding frenzy”
Now, why does this video remind me of internet debates about politics?

CLASS HUMOR
Romney criticized for being out of touch – rather than being the member of another social class. the implication is that the only ‘good’ ruler is one from the lower classes.
Humor in the upper classes consists of self-ridicule and hyperbolic absurdity — usually amplifying the mundane as if the trivial is important in order to add levity to the conversation. To ask the cookie question of a person in the upper and upper middle classes is a demonstration of that humor.
Conservatism universally conceives of the world as a necessary hierarchy. A hierarchy of responsibility. To conservatives and the upper classes such humor is a compliment that is meant to demonstrate that the speaker has abandoned his hierarchical position with relation to the listener. It is a statement of care-taking.
To the lower classes, and particularly to the left, this can be an insult. To liberals the hierarchical construct is a ‘bad’ on it’s face, so both the humor and the compliment are lost.
In effect, self-ridicule, and hyperbolic ridicule, are means of levity that demonstrate equality. And liberals will never, ever, understand it.

A humorous anti-immigration cartoon.

My significant other, who is Meti (mixed native-american and white) has a pretty strong anti-white streak for this reason. And listening to her, I don’t suppose that white people will feel any differently about the minorities that outnumber them in the future.
CAN WE HAVE THE QUEEN PLEASE?
Seems awfully selfish of the Brits not to share.

In a rare break from party infighting, Monday’s Republican primary debate saw the candidates unite in their derision of “ObamaContent,” the president’s newly unveiled theory of linguistic meaning. The theory, which relies upon the practice of a speaker’s linguistic community to fix the semantic content of many words, was attacked as “socialized meaning” by the debate participants.

This is just the right making use of the left’s strategy (from Chomsky etc.). Just as they have adopted every other strategy after some frustrating internal hand wringing about their feelings about the ethics of it. And so we continue the cycle of degenerative discourse. The underlying issue remains the same. We either use the caretaker strategy, which is a synonym for subsidizing the birth rates of the lower classes, or we use the aristocratic strategy which is a synonym for constraining the birth rates of the lower classes. The ‘framing’ in political discourse consists of using every possible distraction to avoid the underlying issue: that norms are dependent upon the behavioral ability of the majority and therefore the right’s concept of freedom requires individual accountability and the suppression of the birth rates of the lower classes in order to achieve improvements in the body politic. The left’s concept of freedom requires redistribution, tolerance for impulsivity over discipline, and an authoritarian government to perform administration of it. It is possible to create a compromise between these two worlds, but not while the ‘framing’ is conducted by either the right or the left as a means of avoiding the underlying problem.
