I do not understand the management. I would create a desktop computer that has a dozen USB-C 3.1 Thunderbolt ports. Make everything USB-C. Make the computer run silent using new fan technology and dust filters, or water cooling. Include a 32 inch 4K monitor with 144 hz refresh rate and perfect color accuracy. Include a mouse that’s *ergonomic* rather than artistic. Also it really intrudes on your privacy, and is starting to go in the direction of sw as a paid service. Finally (what happened to me) is that if your mb dies frying the cpu with it, and you go buy a new mb and cpu, it will conclude you’ve installed it on a new pc and spam you with that authentication warning. Also, in regards to the desktop market – it’s dying a slow death. But Apple’s strategy seems to be nibbling at the market from below, by improving the performance of their tablet processors. And tablet sales are growing. Compound that with the “what is a computer” commercial and the direction becomes obvious.Oct 13, 2018 3:26pmJay SchmittI don’t think desktops will ever go away, because of the advantages of the form factor and interface devices (nothing can beat a keyboard and mouse…yet). Plus you can’t cool a CPU with a big heat sink and fan in a tablet.Oct 13, 2018 3:43pmCurt Doolittle^ yep. principle problem is heat dissipation vs performance, and it’s the bugaboo of the tech stack.Oct 13, 2018 4:15pmJay SchmittOne solution is to have the computer off-site, and have the screen receiving signal wirelessly. But you run into the problem of lag. Maybe there could be a way to create the illusion of zero lag?Oct 13, 2018 4:21pmCurt DoolittleOther than for games, the issue we face with current technology is actually throughput still.

I can ALMOST drop the OS with the browser and replace the microsoft stack. When that happens microsoft is dead. Not there yet but getting closer every year.Oct 13, 2018 4:22pmJames Smithwell thats because they ruined it after 7 with their focus on touch, the bland reality is windows works with everything you need. apple doesn’t bother with osx, its a dead platform.

its also clear that google has won the OS war for mobile, i cant see $2000 iphone trend continuing,

i buy $300 andriods, motorola g6 does everything a mobile phone needs to do, and it isnt slow at it. and i dont care if i drop it.Oct 13, 2018 4:57pmJoe FossWhile there will always be PC purchases, the market has been steadily slowing down for almost 10 years. Regarding heat dissipation, you have no idea how aggressively power optimization is being pursued.

And unless you’re dependent on a particular piece of software, Curt, you can already drop MS and make the move to Linux. I used all three major operating systems at work, and I can say I like Linux the best.

I don’t like the idea of served services for obvious reasons. Maybe a next revolution will be the personal server.Oct 13, 2018 11:43pmCurt DoolittleI understand all these things. yes.Oct 14, 2018 12:33amJoe FossDid I spill some spaghetti?

  • Patterns of Shared Identity Are Implied by Terminology

October 12th, 2018 9:18 AM EUROPEAN KINSHIP AND FAMILY SYSTEMS A “Cognition and Practice” Approach to an Aspect of European Kinship Patrick Heady First Published May 6, 2017 https://doi.org/10.1177/1069397117707184

Abstract Despite the long history of kinship studies, we still lack agreed theories capable of explaining the connection between terminological systems and kinship practice. This article argues for a cognitive approach centering on two distinct but complementary aspects of identity. It is argued that patterns of shared identity are implied by terminology and combine with other factors to motivate practice in a feedback loop which transmits influences between terminological systems and political and economic institutions. The argument is illustrated by statistical and historical analyses of an aspect of European kinship.

    PRESCRIPTIVE CONFLICT

    by William L. Benge

Prescriptive Conflict: By describing conflagrations between groups in specific language and explicitly as “prescriptive conflict” we limit the possibility of r’s mis-framing the conflict (lying/ betrayal) midway, to escape reciprocity, and accounts preemptively for their typical “turn” toward the enemy; their switching loyalties for selfish gain; their opening the city gates at midnight for the right price.

Simultaneously, this term connotes the polity has exercised positiva to establish sound positions on all relevant matters internally and externally, present, past and future. And balanced this with negativa.

Positiva will manifest for outgroup interactions and ingroup legislation of policy. Policy shall form prescriptions, enforced in negativa.

Outgroups defiant of these prescriptions enact warfare.

Law, therefore, touches nearly all human action, except the required liberty for refinement, ASCENSION of the polity.

  • Education Is Just Leftist Malware

October 11th, 2018 11:45 AM EDUCATION IS JUST LEFTIST MALWARE by James Santagata What you received was worse than being deprived of an education. If you were simply deprived of an education, it would be a fairly simple matter to apply yourself, and remedy those gaps or that deprivation. What you were given was Mental Malware which includes desensitization scripts in the form of Mental Root Kits. Extremely hard to identify, surface, and remedy. So rather than someone not teaching you how to read a map, they gave you a fucked up map to begin with ,and then instructed you how to read it improperly (the Sun rises in the West and sets in the South, and that you should never question the map — if you come across a Ranger, an authority figure or even Smoky the Bear, listen closely for instructions. Then they sent you in the wrong direction for those 12 years. So even if you figure it out, you have to backtrack, lost time, energy and earnings to back to where you would be if you never went to school! Except now you are exhausted, pissed, distrustful, and have to fight cognitive dissonance. If they simply gave you no “education” you wouldn’t have to unlearn, and unlink the malware.

  • Female Reproductive Traits and Six Psychiatric Disorders.

October 10th, 2018 1:07 PM The genetic relationship between female reproductive traits and six psychiatric disorders.

Abstract Female reproductive behaviors have an important implication in evolutionary fitness and health of offspring. Previous studies have shown that age at first birth of women (AFB) is genetically associated with schizophrenia (SCZ). However, for most other psychiatric disorders and reproductive traits, the latent shared genetic architecture is largely unknown. Here we used the second wave of UK Biobank data (N=220,685) to evaluate the association between five female reproductive traits and polygenetic risk scores (PRS) projected from genome-wide association study summary statistics of six psychiatric disorders (N=429,178). We found that the PRS of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) were strongly associated with AFB (genetic correlation of -0.68 +/- 0.03 with p-value = 1.86E-89), age at first sexual intercourse (AFS) (-0.56 +/- 0.03 with p-value = 3.42E-60), number of live births (NLB) (0.36 +/- 0.04 with p-value = 4.01E-17) and age at menopause (-0.27 +/- 0.04 with p-value = 5.71E-13). There were also robustly significant associations between the PRS of eating disorder (ED) and AFB (genetic correlation of 0.35 +/- 0.06), ED and AFS (0.19 +/- 0.06), Major depressive disorder (MDD) and AFB (-0.27 +/- 0.07), MDD and AFS (-0.27 +/- 0.03) and SCZ and AFS (-0.10 +/- 0.03). Our findings reveal the shared genetic architecture between the five reproductive traits in women and six psychiatric disorders, which have a potential implication that helps to improve reproductive health in women, hence better child outcomes. Our findings may also explain, at least in part, an evolutionary hypothesis that causal mutations underlying psychiatric disorders have positive effects on reproductive success.
