  • Ability, talent, skill, general knowledge, sex, personality, wants = demonstrate

Ability, talent, skill, general knowledge, sex, personality, wants = demonstrated intelligence. I wouldn’t desire to be a chess master, logician, or mathematician (immaterial, boring), or a doctor (unclean), or politician (popularity). Others would. So: tech, biz, law, acad, war.

  • The Standard Of Functional Literacy

Reading and ‘Rithmetic aren’t enough. If you don’t know algorithmic reasoning (basic programming), basic cognitive science (simple model of the brain), microeconomics (incentives), and macro-political economy(equilibria), then you are functionally illiterate today.

  • —“Curt: What Does State of Nature Mean?”—

WHAT DOES STATE OF NATURE MEAN?

—“Curt, is “the state of nature” purely allegorical?”–Ryan Michael McDonald @ryanmcdonaldusa

It’s a reference to a presumption human instinctual incentives, and long-standing debate over human nature as moral, amoral, or immoral. The debate is over. Man is amoral (practical). Cooperation is just far more useful (and less stressful)- until conflict, violence, warfare is more useful.

That said, what natural conditions? Given stone, bronze, iron, or steel? On an island, a forest, a plain, or mountains? In the arctic, the temperate, the steppe, or desert? Alone, in a band, a tribe, a nation, or an empire? In the presence of kin, kith, competitors, or enemies?

By asking these questions we expose the bias, presumption, assumption (lie), of others. In my understanding, state of nature means what is necessary to survive at the least risk, lowest cost, greatest return, shortest time, greatest certainty.
ie: it’s all just physics. That is ‘nature’. Reciprocity is the only test of whether when humans act (interact) that we are not engaging in parasitism – a violation of physical laws.

Man is amoral. Even when moral, only as immoral as he can get away wit. Because that’s the cheapest (optimum) strategy. It’s called “efficiency”.
Western man simply suppressed as many parasitisms and falsehoods as possible.

  • Performative (Existential) Truth

    Performative (Existential) Truth https://t.co/n2FsVQ9Zzk

  • Performative (Existential) Truth

Performative Truth rather than the pretense of it, requires consistency of properties (identity) of reference, internal consistency (logical consistency), consistency of operational possibility (sequences in time), consistency of observed consequences (empiricism), rational choice by rational incentives, reciprocity (bi-directional rational choice), coherence (consistency with realism, naturalism, and operationalism), completeness by stated limits, and full accounting within them, are the minimum criteria for due diligence against falsehood by ignorance, error, bias, and deceit, under liability for having performed that due diligence.

This is the analytic and complete inventory of the criteria we use in the judgment of the truth today – and have for centuries. It’s just that the scientific community is less demanding than the court, the philosophical community less so than the scientific, and the informal community lacking constraint at all. And the academic, public intellectual, commercial, economic, financial, and political communities abuse with reckless abandon. And with religions – whether supernatural or pseudoscientific (marxism – feminism et al) or sophistry (postmodernism et all) – specializing in lying.
