    Research taxes.

Prior to the American Civil War, the Southern states contributed a significant portion (most) of federal tax revenue, despite that the North had a free population of about 22 million and the South a free population of about 5.5 million, primarily due to the nature of the economy and the tax structure at the time. So a tax of 4 or 5 to 1.

The key reasons for this include:

Tariffs: The primary source of federal revenue before the Civil War was tariffs, which are taxes on imported goods. The Southern states, with their agrarian economies, relied heavily on importing goods from Europe. In contrast, the Northern states were more industrialized and produced many goods domestically. Therefore, the South ended up paying a larger share of tariffs.

Export Economy: The Southern economy was heavily based on agriculture, particularly the export of cash crops like cotton, tobacco, and rice. These exports were crucial not only to the U.S. economy but also to the global market, especially in Europe. While the export itself was not directly taxed, the goods and services needed to support this export economy were often imported and thus subject to tariffs.

Lack of Industrialization: The North’s industrial economy meant it was less reliant on imports than the agrarian South. Northern industries also benefited from protective tariffs that made imported goods more expensive, thus protecting domestic manufacturers from foreign competition. This situation was a source of tension, as the South felt that the tariff policy unfairly favored Northern interests.

Limited Federal Taxation Methods: Before the 16th Amendment (1913), which allowed the federal government to levy an income tax, the U.S. government’s ability to raise revenue was limited mostly to tariffs and excise taxes. There was no federal income tax that could diversify the tax burden across different sectors and regions of the economy.

Political Disputes Over Tariffs: The issue of tariffs was a major point of contention between the North and the South. Southern states argued that the tariff system was inequitable and favored Northern industrial interests.

This dispute over tariffs and the perception of an unfair economic advantage contributed to the growing sectional tensions leading up to the Civil War.

(Ergo I am correct (as usual))

–“If Palestine wasn’t a muslim country then everyone would be supporting it.”–
(Putting aside there is no Palestinian state or country to support only palestinian muslims.)

What does that say about Muslims in general and Palestinians in particular (or Jews for that matter)?

The evidence is that no one in the MENA region will take in the 6 or 7 million Palestinians (a large city’s worth), despite their small number, a shared Muslim religion, and their territorial capacity to do so.

Evidence is that no civilization desires Muslims among them, with even the least racist most tolerant people (Europeans) running out of patience. The Indians have restored their religious emphasis on Hinduism because of the Muslim Problem. The Chinese actively force convert those who are muslim using re0education camps. The Russians tolerate but the state enforces Christian Orthodoxy as the state religion. Africa is at war with the barbarism of the Muslim north africans.

So what is it that makes Muslims undesirable by every other people on this earth, and no other people on this earth less desirable?

And to be blunt, why do westerners support israel other than they wish their jews would move there – and to prevent those jews who are already in israel from migrating to western countries?

What is wrong with the culture of the Semitic peoples, and their religions?

The rest of the world knows the answer. Do the Muslims and Jews?

Your morality isn’t moral or good or beneficial. In contrast to every other civilization’s moral demands, it’s immorality. Which is inconcievable to the carriers of any faith.

Change yourselves before you expect others to change to tolerate you. Then they will support you like they support all moral peoples.

Regarding “The Congresss shall make no law …”.

This phrase applies only as long as (a) the states maintain a republican form of government (b) observe the implications of the declaration, and stated constitutional (bill of rights) rights, obligations and alienations and their (c) derivations from the findings of the supreme court (d) do not expose other states to threat – particular of foreign influence or alliance.

Option (b) and the 14th amendment sort of provide an avenue for the federal govt to deprive the states of self determination within those limits (a,b,c).

Science = Testimony and Testimony = Testifiablity.
    @Plinz,
And behind that is that testimony, expanded from ancient ‘courts’ was generalized to intellectual sphere, because discretionary rule was prohibited, so arguments between the military aristocracy had to be made decidable. And that decidability was necessary because each member, requiring wealth of a n extended family or clan for heavy arms, could remains soverign, and military epoistemology is unforgiving.

There is or at least under the common adversarial law before the jury, there was, little difference between on teh battlefield, words in court, words in trade, words in ‘proper society’, and eventually words in church.

As a thought experiment, what would happen if all sanctioned papers where the research was the recipient of public funding directly or indirectly, were held to testifiability – and perjury otehrwise? 😉

The court is forcing the people legislatures and courts to ‘take the hits’ and solve this themselves rather than ‘taking an activist and political decision that circumvents the people and the legislatures’.

If you grasp anything about Scalia’s and the Fedsoc’s affect on restoring rule of law to the court, and the federal and state governments, this is the fundamental priciple driving their behavior.

American Constitutionalism, its Concurrent Democracy, and Common Natural Law are ‘messy’ because they’re effectively the use of the scientific method of obaining agreement while protecting minority rights – effectively banning arbitrary discretion (authoritarianism) and majority rule.

The Europeans will never understand it. And the rest of the world can’t even comprehend it. 😉

What in aggregate behavior can you provide objective proof of yourself (nothing). What can we EXPLAIN using the empirical evidence of behavior, and the behavioral science that causes it?

Asking for proof is evidence of incompetence. Asking for explanation requires you have requisite knowledge to understand it.

So if you (a) ask for proof and in doing so (b) demonstrate you lack the requisite knowledge to hold an opinion, the why do you assume your opinion is worth anything whatsoever to yourself or anyone else?

I don’t recall hearing from. you before, but some of my work (the work most populists care about) explains the female->Jewish->Abrahamic-Sequence->Marxist-Sequence as the same small set of first causes (behaviors) expressed at different scales as the availability of opportunity for indirect criminality by seduction and undermining increases along with the development of civilization by man.

In other words, it’s not just culture. It appears jews in particular but south eurasians in general are biased toward cognitive female bias – or perhaps conversely, that europeans are biased to th cognitively masculine which explains our outsized contribution to innovation across the bronze, iron, steel, and silicon ages.
