    ASCENTIUM TIME MACHINE:

A LITTLE HELP FROM OUT I.T. FRIENDS

With the help of IT and Steven, I’ve been able to find the Ascentium: The Early Years videos, and at least locate where the vast body of the photos are supposed to be. I’m converting them from windows dependent format to something more universally playable (’cause I’m a mac guy after all.) And will post them when I can. I’ll eventually get them all up here. It’s pretty fun going through this stuff actually. (Now that there is a little distance from it. 🙂

HOTELS COMPLETELY BOOKED IN SEATTLE AREA SO….

Drove out to Leavenworth on a lark. A gorgeous drive, especially this time of year on a clear day. Leavenworth is a gorgeous fairy tale town. And nowhere near as kitchy as people say. It’s actually quite pretty with all sorts of little shops and hotels. The hotel I found on Hotels.com is a little below standard, but the charm of being here compensates.

Tomorrow I hit the shops, then drive back, and return to the grindstone (er, keyboard). Lots of work to do.

    OMG AT 210LBS

I found some photos from 2004, when I was up (and over) 210. OMG how did I go from fit and trim in 2001, to a whale in 2004? Um. a) child, b) illness, c) stress.

    WHACKY FACTOR BY DISCIPLINE

My social universe consists of engineers, scientists, economists, philosophers, artists, marketers and lawyers. But I have to say that the ‘Crazy Factor’ is almost absent from engineers and negligible among economists, increases rapidly with lawyers, becomes commonplace among marketers, endemic among artists, and nearly universal among philosophers.

I mean. That’s a completely unscientific observation. But it’s still an observation.

HOW TO ADD 20% MORE HORSEPOWER TO YOUR SPORTS CAR?

(Make sure the tires are at the right pressure)

I noticed that the driver’s side front tire was low. Went to the station to add air. And then read the fine print on the fancy tires. And found out that they were 20 pounds under pressure. I didn’t notice. Dealer didn’t notice. But I sure noticed the difference driving.

(Sigh. Just sometimes…things like this make me feel like an idiot.)

    WEIGHT UPDATE

Waist 32″, neck 15.5″. Lost six inches around the waist. Two in the neck. I’m now the same size I was in college. A 16/32 trim fit shirt is perfect even with a tie. Regular cut shirts are too blousey. Getting close to a 40″ jacket. 41 is quite good. 40 in Abboud is about right. Hickley fits ok at 41. 42’s look like tents. I would love to drop five more from my tire but now muscle tone in my shoulders and abs is more important than weight loss.

Wish I was a gym rat but home workouts and yard work were always better.

My friends Andy and Todd are looking great too. I’m glad the recession applies to waistlines. 🙂

    Cheers.

BEING SICK IS NOT GOOD FOR ONE’S WRITING

I haven’t produced anything substantial in the past two weeks. Thank god I’m getting closer to getting it under control. I can understand a novelist or a poet still trudging onward, but philosophy is just too steep a hill to climb when your head doesn’t want to cooperate.
