(Just want to thank my friend Kevin Dillon for some passionately communicated advice the other day. Advice I’ve taken. Thanks Kevin.)

MOSCOW
Watching a movie right now. Captures the lights of downtown. I want to go back.
Russians still remember what it nobility is. Art and elegance , sophistication and grace are terms that still retain their meaning, at least to some.

I did NOT need to know more about this car. I was perfectly happy knowing that E Types and Cobras were antiquated technology. So I didn’t have to long for one. And, well, Morgans are one thing. But this is purely modern car. And it’s gorgeous. 🙂
A used one is 75K euros. 100K US.

HOW A NERD THINKS ABOUT A WARDROBE
I’ve lost something like 40 lbs, although I feel like I’ve gained a bit back staying here in Bellevue, typing all day. So I’ve had to slowly rebuild my wardrobe over the summer so that I’m not swimming in sacks like Alice after she imbibes the Drink Me potion.
I didn’t change the style at all. Still stayed with the jeans/jacket theme that I’ve always had, and the pretty stock Ralph Lauren for casual.

TIPS:
– Wash your expensive jeans inside out. That’s where most of the wear comes from.
– Wash your clothes in cold water using Woolite or some other mild detergent unless you work with dirt and sweat for a living. Hang dry your shirts on plastic hangers. They’ll last longer. (The water at the cabin ruined my clothes. Its one of the reasons I didn’t want to live there any longer.)
– The cleaners damage your clothes. Especially the seams. You are better off doing them at home. I see all these guys with freshly pressed clothes that are falling apart.
– Learn how to iron. Iron in front of the TV in the morning with your coffee. I do it before the shower, and lay my clothes out for the day on the bed. I love ironing. Because it’s become part of my ritual. And because my grandmother taught me how. And it reminds me of her.

TESTOSTERONE
Never had my levels checked before. Turns out my ex was right. Absurdly high lol. I mean. Close to having the opposite problem. Near the upper limit. Wonder what it was when I was 19… No wonder.
Vitamin D is a serious problem though. Is that the cause of my energy problem? I mean I basically don’t have any. Wtf?
Is it the synthroid?

WIERD?
For the past few weeks, healing from surgery, I’ve been haunting coffee shops in Bellevue, often until late at night, because I like the to work in the white noise of happy upper middle class banter near restaurants that serve decent food. And after writing at home in isolation for six months, it’s like coming out of hibernation.
Besides having wireless access, I’ve run in to a whole buch of people, and awkwardly caught up a bit. And I like that.
But I feel like a vagrant crashing a party and I’m perpetually overdressed for the occasion. 🙂
Unfortunately I’m not a prole who can idle about with coffee, cigarettes and absinthe as if it’s Paris in the twenties, feeling like I’m upwardly mobile. It’s too uncomfortable to be ungrounded. So I’m going to have to solve this problem somehow and actually get a space to work in. Either that or take up Peter Kowalczyk’s idea of bumming around Australia. 🙂
Despite my fantasy about retiring to write, it’s a fantasy. I’m too socially inclined to pour over a desk all day. And the hunt of the sales process is just too enjoyable to do without.
Anyway, I’ve got to go get a latte, and figure out why the debugger wont link through the firewall, while I background process how I’m going to solve this particularly difficult problem of how to talk about human calculation (in the wider heuristic sense) because I’m having difficulty getting it across, and I need to kick off the seminar on political philosophy this fall. 🙂
