    Personal.

Other immune system sufferers are the only ones who can probably appreciate this feeling.

One or two days a year my immune system gives me a rest and I can reach deep sleep and feel relaxed physically and mentally.

Today is one of those days.

I wonder if this is what normal people feel like.

    Thank you god.

    HUMOR

    “Where are you?”

    “At a club.”

“Will you go home soon? Its late. You should go to bed.”

“I will stay in this darkness until the sun rises, and I walk home, naked, arms outstretched, in the dawn light, leaving a trail of clothes down Sagaidochnogo Vul like the flower petals of so many forgiven sins, sacrificed to the sun god in thanks for the gift of a new day in which I can sin indulgently again, grinning all the while with the knowledge that he will, with certitude, cleanse my soul anew each morn. “

“Doolittle. How much have you been drinking?”

“Nothing. Water and coffee. You don’t think I can rattle that kind of nonsense off the top of my head when I’m drunk do you?”

    “Kisses and sweet dreams.:)”

No one ever takes me seriously.

    😉

Vivid memory. On the farm. Late afternoon. July. In a field. Behind a tractor. Quiet. Crackling and ping of cooling engine parts. Standing on the soil. Wearing converse sneakers. Worn at the tip. Looking down into the irrigation ditch. It’s deep. I couldn’t get out if I fell in. At the bottom. Water. Clay. In mixes of grey, blue, purple, red, pink, brown. Look like they’re floating plastic bags. The smell of fresh earth, the rubber of the tires and some older man’s aftershave. The sun behind a man in overalls. The man to my left speaking. He speaks with empathy and understanding. But just sounds out of place. He makes me feel awkward. I bend and squeeze a lump of clay. It squeezes like plastic. Lines of blue-grey within red-brown. I throw it in the water to distract myself.

Smells create the most amazing moments of recall.

A MAN’S WORK IS NEVER DONE

God likes to torture me. That’s what it is.

I’ve had a few weeks, while we move from one technology framework to another, to work on the book a bit (and spam my friends on FB with my progress).

And of course, just as I get very close to being able to write one of the most difficult chapters, I get a crisis in business that steals my attention.

Next week we’ll estimate the last scope of work before we’re feature complete – about four months worth we think. And after that’s done, I’ll be drafted into involuntary programming (they only give me the back-end stuff you know – accounting and that kind of thing.) And so my time will be constrained again for a while.

I want to be done by September.

And it looks tough at this point.

And that frustrates the heck out of me.

A man’s work is never done (either).

    🙂

    ENOUGH LIBERTARIANISM FOR ONE DAY

Enough libertarianism for one day. I will have to solve this damned problem over the next few weeks. Didn’t think I could do it but I’m almost there. Almost. Every logical argument that I can find rests upon the representation of ratios not measures. I still have the 20th century to get thru but I am pretty sure it will hold up.

Now, we have to pick a restaurant. I want… fish! and Pasta! lol

Actually I want chocolate. But I have willpower enough to resist it. 🙂

    RE: Facebook’s “Top Commentator”

I didn’t even know there was such a thing. It just appears next to my name. Hmmm….. Odd. Nice but … I mean, why didn’t I know it?

I have this same problem with Quora, but that Amazon addresses so well: “Gamify” posting so that it’s worth your while as a status perk. It also tends to reduce the idiot factor that you have to deal with when anyone can reply to your posts.

So it’s a real incentive and incentives matter. I might write to for the sole purpose of improving my writing, so that I gain skill at communicating complex ideas in increasingly simplistic terms. (I don’t have the luxury of a classes to teach where I can test my ideas.) But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t more rewarding to contribute to one network than another. It does.

    PILLOW HEDONISM

There was a time when Doolittle family Puritanism made me feel helplessly guilty if I slept past nine AM.

Today we gloriously slept until one. And my body is thanking me for it.

Glad that particular environmental bias has finally worn off. 🙂
