You know, it seems like if you make enough progress in philosophy, then you run out of people to talk to. 🙂

It’s true in all fields, really. Philosophy isn’t special. But I don’t think I’d mind running out of people to discuss human-machine interfaces with. While I’d mind running out of people to discuss politics and philosophy with.

( Does anyone know anything about shaking or trembling from heat? I can’t stop. Three minutes of activity or sun and I’m cooked. Pretty sure it’s the level of thyroid they’re giving me to suppress any chance of repeat illness. Started getting bad yesterday, but it’s become unbearable. Going to try to dramatically increase hydration today and see if that helps. Otherwise I’m a prisoner of air conditioning. )

Second strange male problem of the day.

I know this is Ukraine. But FFS, this is a family hotel. And the damned waitresses here look like strippers. I mean, they have these enormous platform heels, bikinis with sequins, and this pretend-skirt-thing. And they also have ‘that look’: they’re thin but the skin hangs because they haven’t any muscle under it. Like they spent their 20 year lives sitting on bar stools smoking and getting nourishment from coffee.

It’s freaking CREEPY. I am sitting in the bar where I get waited on by the men. Eek.

Do you know that in London every restaurant and shop plays music so loud that you want to leave? And here in the ukraine they play this ukrainian pop that’s really all polka-beat dance music.

Creepy. OK? It’s a 5 star hotel. But I don’t care how nice the hotel is. The music, the stripper-look-alikes and it’s just …. creepy. FFS.

(Ok. I’m not gonna get more work done today apparently.)

    In every chapter I use:

    A Number (of the chapter)

An Image (a symbol – this is hard)

A Title (usually just a term)

A propertarian axis – almost poetic. (Aphoristic poetry perphaps?)

A quote (or poetic excerpt that conveys the simple meaning)

A Statement (an assertion in analytic language)

    An Argument. (the rational argument.)

And after that will follow historical examples (if I ever can get to that part, since it’s not really necessary. I might also just use mythological stories. That might be more meaningful.).

    Strange male problems.

I am sitting here by the pool trying to work, and this woman keeps standing next to me using both hands to squeeze her breasts together to get the water out of her swimsuit top – and getting me wet.

I dont mind the water. But every time she does it nine billion neurons in my brain fire a very primitive language and I forget what the heck I was thinking about.

    Sigh.

    (self assessment)

The rule of thumb of divorce, is that it will take you about a year to get over every four years of marriage. This fall is five years. Seems like it’s worked about right for me. We sort of rebuild our minds sufficiently to forget almost anything every three years, so I bet there is some sort of algorithm in there we could develop and explain in terms of sensory overload. In other words, the more different your circumstance the more quickly you will develop alternate memories to replace the old. On the other hand of you carry it with you you’re associating the past with the present. So there is some sort of polluting going on while you’re forgetting. The mind is fascinating.

    MYTHOLOGY

Heard a great story from my ex-wife today. Made me laugh.

There is a not-small group of people in Seattle that seems to think I am Darth Vader or something. Which, while I do understand a bit, just isn’t the case. (I am a hamster – at least since my last illness.) Yes, some of those stories are PARTLY true. But most are a lot of made up nonsense: mythology.

And, just to put rumors to rest, NO I didn’t start the revolution here in Ukraine. 🙂 No, I was not sent here on the government payroll (this time at least.) No I am not currently working for the government (although I bet I’m back on a watch list somewhere – again.)

But if the truth be known, being Darth Vader isn’t all that hard. And you really don’t need the Force, or magic powers. You just need to outsmart them enough so that they THINK you have the force or magic powers. Then they start making up nonsense about you that takes on a life of its own – and sooner than you think: BAM – instant mythology. (Ack).

Unfortunately, it is really not very hard to outsmart a lot of people. The technique is called ‘the prestige’. Act like you’re doing ONE thing that seems obviously self interested, while really doing another that is not, or which is significantly less so. People always assume, presume, and once they commit to a plan of action, you are in control of their actions. Me, I follow the numbers, and I’m loyal to a fault. If you wanna know what I’m thinking, in the end, it’s the numbers and loyalty – you just have to understand WHICH numbers, and who I’m loyal to.

But that said, I don’t wanna be that guy any more. OK? That’s why I moved away from the dysfunctional land of the MSFT morality-distortion-field, to the land of nice people uncorrupted by such things.

It’s kind of surprising now to look back and see that world.

But, now, instead of back I’m moving forward.

I just want to create a revolution.

    Not here. THERE.

    – Curt
