    Its not uncommon in politically incorrect circles to argue that China’s IQ advantage, and the evidence of Asian ‘pliability’ demonstrated from the moment of birth onward, is the result of the systematic and intentional extermination of troublemakers for thousands of years. We know that in northern Europe the use of manorialism allowed the middle class gene pool to almost entirely replace the proletarian gene pool, and that the plague exacerbated it a bit. So that almost all northern europeans by the early 1600’s were decedents of the middle class. And we’re pretty sure that Northern European, Ashkenazi and Chinese IQ’s were at relative parity in 1850. But that we’re getting ‘dumber’ genetically even if ratio-scientific eduction and the Flynn effect of universal exposure to universal rules has somewhat compensated for it. The net being that aside from their side track into Marxism, they’ve done a lot of good for themselves. But some truths are painful.

    DOMINATION, CHARITY, OR CHEAP STATUS SIGNALS?

    There is a great difference between these levels of interest: domination, management, insurance, and charity.

    The world is a pretty charitable place really.

    If a people ASK for charity we should be as charitable as their behavior warrants. But the Japanese for example, pretty much refused our assistance (wrongly). And our assistance in most places (Haiti included) has been more damaging than good. Our attempts to help Africa have almost all been damaging to Africa – and the scholarly review of our failures is not even a matter of dispute any longer.

    Involving ourselves both at the state level and via multitudes of NGO’s that the EVIDENCE shows CLEARLY cause more harm than good; or involving ourselves as the world’s police force – which the evidence suggests causes more harm than good (we have been wrong more than right); or acting as the evangelists of the religion of Universal Secular Christianity that we call “Social Democracy” which the evidence again CLEARLY demonstrates that we cause more harm than good – is just an elaborate way of using our wealth to generate status signals for ourselves at other people’s expense.

    We are not smarter than the rest of the world. We are wealthier. We are wealthier because we have had longer to convert our society to ratio-scientific thought. And we are wealthier because we have the common law (in anglo countries), we used our technological leadership to conquer the two most remote continents (Australia and north america); and because we have influenced Continental law by two major wars of conquest in which we dictated terms. And because we inherited the british empire’s control of the seas built up over 500 years, when it committed suicide in the wars. And because we forced the world onto the petro-dollar standard in order to finance our global war on communism.

    Those are the reasons we are wealthier. And while we have done a lot of good by converting the rest of the world unwillingly to CONSUMER CAPITALISM – which is our greatest contribution – we have also done a lot of harm with our wealth – motivated by good intentions, in practice, out of ignorance.

    While I can’t empathize with it, I do understand why so many women believe in magic. It’s obvious really. If it’s precognitive, it’s magic. Stuff just ‘happens’ for a lot of women. They call it ‘energy’ or whatever. And, if men can obsess about ‘truth’ for a few thousand years, why can’t women obsess about magic? Or astrology. The mind is not open to much introspection. The incomprehensible is indistinguishable from magic. You see conspiracy theories from men the way you see belief in magic from women. Same difference: just different interpretations of ‘magical causes’.

    Ordinary people actually scare me. I love them. But they scare me. They’re like children running with scissors.

    And we let them vote for goodness sake?!

    Why is it that we just love pseudoscience?

    Platonism is forgivable. And its curable. But gullibility? Why are white people so gullible?

    If I figure it out (and I will) there is something very valuable in there somewhere.

    I know its partly genetic. I know its partly institutional.

    Trust.

    Trust is actually in our genes.

    For a homogenous population that’s a good thing.

    In a diverse population, it’s genetically maladaptive.

    White people are willing to fall head over heels for every pseudoscientific nonsense that any one throws at them. Peter and Paul, Augustine, Rousseau, Kant, Marx, Freud, Cantor, and the whole lot of academic postmodernists.

    We have the high trust society because we are both less impulsive and more willing to trust than any other genetic group on earth. We even used to be smarter than the rest of them. But no longer.

    Stupid white people. Unfortunately, I love my people. Even if they are stupid. Gullible, trusting, victims of every empty verbalistic pseudoscience anyone comes up with.

    The ongoing struggle to extend in-group trust to out-group members. Or, the ongoing struggle to extend the cooperation demonstrated between consanguineous relations, to beyond those relations, such that it is possible for us to evolve a division of knowledge and labor, in which there is as little risk of misappropriation of our efforts in the market, as there is within the consanguineous family. While inside the family free riding is a form of mutual insurance, manageable by threat of deprivation and ostracization, the fact remains that one’s genetic kin prosper even at the cost of unequal distribution of gains and losses. But outside the kin, the same free riding, and unequal distribution of gains and losses, is neither of benefit to kin, nor controllable by ostracization and deprivation. There is always another group to prey upon if one is mobile enough. And it takes but a minority of predators engaging in immoral activity to render all external trust intolerable, and thereby undermine the people’s economy, polity, and competitive survival. Simple property If it was hard to create the institution of simple-private-property such that we could prosecute and suppress the crimes of violence and theft. Low trust private property If it was hard to create the institution of low-trust private property such that we could prosecute and suppress the crimes of fraud and blackmail. High trust warrantied private property It was hard to create the institution of high-trust, warrantied, private property such that we could prosecute and suppress the crimes of fraud by omission, negligence, and externalization. High Trust Political Institutions It was hard to create the formal institutions of high political trust american classical liberalism in an attempt to suppress corruption in government, all forms of free riding. “Perfect-Trust” Informal and Formal Institutions So, the why would it not be even more difficult to create formal and informal institutions such that we could prosecute and suppress the crimes of deception by obscurantism, mysticism and loading? Because cooperation across reproductive strategies is impossible without trust that operates independently of our differences in property rights.
