When the Chinese philosopher (Confucius) failed to solve the problem of politics (truthful debate and property and jury) he directed all men into a vast hierarchical family administered by a hierarchical bureaucracy with decidability provided by his version of morality “order/non-conflict”. While this retained the extended Chinese clan/tribe ( family), it caused the eventual stagnation of the polity, economy, bureaucracy and civilization. However, while we in the west solved the problem of politics, we failed to solve the problem of family/clan/polity. Whether in Rome, in the roman church, and in England we failed. Only in Germany – surrounded on three sides – did they grasp the importance of family/clan/tribe/nation as a limit on corporatism.
And we conquered them for it.

CULTURAL OBSERVATIONS
There is a very ‘strange’ optimism and honesty in Indian thought that is the near inverse of Russian Nihilism and half-truth, and the total inverse of Chinese nihilism + outright deceit.
I have been troubled by it for a decade now and am only beginning to understand it.
There are no answers other than the technical.
And the technical is not sentimental.
And there are too few indians in the population who have combined indian optimism and honesty with empirical evidence rather than hopefulness.
That said, I prefer working with Russians. Their nihilism in social matters translates to skepticism in occupational, commercial, and scientific matters. They balance American Optimism(utopianism).
But that said, there is nothing to be learned from the west other than empiricism and natural law and rule of law.
The rest has been suicidal folly.

THE WEST VS THE EAST
The West’s problem is that we lie about the nature of man, but act in accordance with our lies.
The Chinese lie about their actions, but act in accordance with the nature of man.
It does us no good to speak the truth about our actions if we lie about the nature of man. It does the Chinese well to lie about their actions but act in accordance with the nature of man.
The only remaining uncivilized, and undomesticated people are in islam.
The Chinese lie with their words, but they act in accordance with reality. They are not oppressing muslims but domesticating them from animals into potential humans.

It is a poor, backward country slowly attempting to reform the corruption of steppe civilization, but lacking the cultural means of doing so: TELL THE TRUTH, HOLD OTHERS ACCOUNTABLE FOR TELLING THE TRUTH, TAKE NOTHING NOT PAID FOR, PROTECT WOMEN AND THE WEAK. THE STEPPE MADE MAN, MEN LEAVING THE STEPPE MADE CIVILIZATIONS

The steppe is a great forge for warriors. It is not a great forge for much else. the great civilizations are around its periphery.
I think if we wish to make a revision in our thoughts of human evolution – it might be that one.
That the small version in east africa formed the first crucible of evolutoin, and the step then evolved into the second crucible of evolution.
And the periphery benefitted from the exit of the steppe by more advanced humans. but those more advanced humans needed distance from the steppe’s hostility to form european, persian-middle-eastern, indian-hindu, and sinic civilizations.
I am pretty sure this is the correct model of the history of evolution.
Everyone wants to talk about cities that were produced.
But no one about the steppe that produced the men that produced the cities.
