    SALESMANSHIP

People want a salesman that they think can understand them. The way you make people think you understand them is through listening, and paraphrasing, and preferably adding a touch of insight to the paraphrasing. So the principle issue with sales is getting the other person to talk, because when you’re talking, you’re not listening, and if you’re not listening, you aren’t paraphrasing. It’s only after we have negotiated this ‘protocol’ of shared understanding that we can begin to ‘inform’ and only once we have informed, we can persuade. The best classes I have taken and taught have been in personality traits and sales. I taught sales for quite a few years and built some very good sales teams, and it’s a very simple process. The only difficulty is in finding leads. Sales is easy. It’s just not efficient. And it’s the people who understand it’s inefficient and have high tolerance or interest in listening to and understanding potential customers that develop into good salesman. Extroversion (getting a charge from interactions) is extremely valuable.

Ive been saying this for the past three years, but we need a ‘college’, so that we can bring dozens of people together, take in fees for teaching natural law, and provide room, board, and fitness using government money (that we will never really have to repay).

We have all the pieces. The primary problem has been my health. And my current environment isn’t helping me any. I’m healthier, but I need to get in better shape so that my energy lasts longer. And I need longer periods of quiet to get into the ‘flow’ that are just impossible right now.

I’ve been reluctant to start teaching classes online because I don’t have a place for a studio and by the time I get a studio set up, I’ve used too much of my energy, and thought about too many different to teach the subject with passion.

Too much on my plate as always.

THE SOLUTION: Sometimes the only way to win, is not to play the game. FB and Google made a mistake, by trying to maximize ad revenue as ad platforms, rather than running their business as modern infrastructure, just like the ISP’s, and letting govt’s police it. #boycottfacebook

I have spent the past few months on the product because I burned out so hard in the fall. But I’m getting back on the horse pretty soon. And I think the optimum will continue to mean toggling back and forth.

Didn’t occur to me that Pornhub could serve mainstream content, and compete with google/youtube. I assumed that Drudge, which does not maximize in any way it’s potential to compete with FB, was the only available axis of competition. (Yes I have explored this in depth)

There are those of us who plan, and organize incentives, so that the opposition wants to buy the deal, and there are those who want to take home the whole pie – because they’re not imaginative. Everyone can win. It’s just a bit of work getting it across.

I have built multiple tech companies, and have aggressively hired women for middle management, sales, and law (building consensus) and tried in exec. I always end with men in creative, tech, finance, executive. There is no difference in intelligence. The difference is in decisions.
