I don’t think Diamonds hypothesis survived the first few years after publication. And I am certain we know the reasons for developmental variation. And while a number of those reasons are politically unpleasant, they are the most important of all. And they are the reasons Diamond wrote his book to find an alternative explanation. POST SINGULARITY ECONOMIES
The difference will be the vast migration of people from the production of goods, services, and information for the purpose of consumption to the production of COMMONS. Hopefully we can make that transformation with the least painful disruption by planning for, and facilitating it ahead of time.
Would you rather live in a vast open air museum and park of a world, or in a blade runner dystopia? It’s not complicated. And economically it’s trivial.
(There isn’t any alternative by the way)
