I would have to look at the literature in depth, but as a general survey, we would probably say that we feel morally superior (which is demonstrably true vs the Chinese), but that we feel equal to the Japanese and South Koreans. And in many ways we see Japanese and Koreans as socially superior. I think conservatives at least would say that they would prefer to create a culture similar to the Japanese, but with our natural ‘open confrontational honesty’. I think our ‘less desirable classes’ would disagree.
