“What’s the difference between training Stoicism and providing education in Folk Religions?”

Stoicism can be practiced as a ritual of self-transformation toward specific goals. It is just organized cognitive behavioral therapy and there is no substitute for it. It provides mindfulness. Folk religions are social. pagan martial, and Christianity is a political religion

The stoic method is simply a rational discipline of cognitive-behavioral therapy (and an action-driven alternative to the passive woo woo of Buddhism), and is the most effective and scientific method of self-authoring.

The Epicurean philosophy is the least divergent from the physical nature and evolutionary laws, and it advocates a lifestyle that is optimum for the vast majority.

The primary difference in application is that stoicism seeks to insulate you from status signal, status pressure, and conflict, and epicureanism seeks to provide you means of avoiding it and tolerating what little you do experience.

So we see stoicism for the analytic personality that tolerates con?ict and epicureanism for the empathic personality that seeks to avoid it.

Realistically these are the optimum personal philosophies, just as hero, ancestor, and nature thanks (worship) is the optimum religion.

So if you study the sciences, history, learn to practice the stoic methodology, live an epicurean life, you are pretty much living the optimum human existence because you are least divergent from the constraints of the universe.
