If we ask them to give up the supernatural belief aspect (to not believe the Bible is literally true), all they feel is that we are trying to take away from them their identity and a massive security blanket.

So my current thinking is, in the short term the angle “Real Christianity is reciprocal, and ir-reciprocal/baiting-into-hazard Christianity is not real Christianity” will succeed, while the angle “You should convert to a non-supernatural version of Christianity” will fail.
